If The Incredibles will be Shrek II then Shrek III will beat that and Cars will beat the former and Cars will be beaten by Shrek IV.

Ugh - don't remind me about
Shrek III and
IV, Ludwig. It's just too depressing. -_- We gotta learn how to starve the beast, people. Too much of a good thing, and all...
But of course, I forgot - now DreamWorks is seriously considering a
Puss-in-Boots movie.

I just dont see why Shrek is as popular as it is. What is appealing about a ugly green....thing with ear wax, boogers, immature childish things ,an annoying donkey that never shuts up and a movie which mocks almost all the fairy tales ever made? I just dont understand whyd anyone would want to see that ugly face or have it on a backpack, or a toy of him, or candy with his face on it? I just dont understand!!

I'm sorry but I will forever think of The Lion King as the Highest Grossing Animated Film because CGI should be its own category. The Lion King should be labeled the Highest Grossing Traditionally Animated Film, and Shrek 2 should be labeled the Highest Grossing CGI Animated Film
BTW, I think that sequels should not be using numbers like Princess Diaries 2 to tell you if its a sequel. It should be like this: The Princess Diaries: Royal Engagement, not, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. Its Tacky!!!

Wait a sec... I just checked out the worldwide top-grossing film list, and Shrek 2 is way low... 77! Finding Nemo is no.9 and Lion King is no.13! This is great news! It seems Shrek 2's overseas gross is only about 5 million!
So... it may be great in the US, but for worldwide... hahaha...

Well, it hasn't opened everywhere yet. The IMDB Release Date list indicates it's only opened in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. It won't open in Italy until December! (Not that anyone in Italy will even think of importing the US R1 disc before it opens. Oh, no.)

People I will tell you why Shrek is so popular: It's about inner beauty and looking on the inside, not the outside. It gives kids a good message, not like Nemo or Monsters ever did.

But even that message is botched, as the makers of the original Shrek didn't have the courage to have Shrek marry a beautiful Princess - she had to turn into an Ogre too.

A friend's aunt just brought her home a copy of Shrek 2 on DVD from China. Guess I can watch it soon. Kewl. Picture quality is really good, its not just taped from a theatre.

The advertising campaign of Shrek 2 really makes me SICK. It will be released in theaters here in Belgium shortly too, and I already got sick of all the advertising about it. The city I have to walk trough every day to get to school is LOADED with Shrek 2 posters. You can't turn around and there's a Shrek 2 poster again! Every bus stop has a poster on the side, every stair in the train station has a poster above it, every bus that rides around has something on it. ARGH! Please, this is really blown up. I didn't even like Shrek 1 THAT much. I only thought it was a good laugh, that's all...

When it comes to teaching kids about inner beauty, I think Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin beat the Shrek films anyday.

Aaargh - my friends DVD was one of those disposable ones good for one play only. It self destructed after they watched it. Noooooo. I guess I will have to wait a few months now.

Is it really that big of deal that Shrek 2 beat Finding Nemo? Personally I find both movies to be wonderful.

I've heard of these, but I still dont get how something just self-destructs. AS for Shrek and Nemo, I dont really care how much a movie makes, as long as its good, which these two are. Fantasia was good even though it's intial release was less than satisfactory, but that takes into account limited release, Europe, WWII. Anywho, as long as the Box Office doesn't incorporate inflation into it's calculations, price of tickets, and today's world/human beings habits, etc. I dont think we can fairly judge a movie by it's money grossing rank. Star Wars Ep. 1 sucked, but it's still at the top of the domestic BO (not #1, but up there) I personally would find TLK to be a better film than Nemo or Shrek could ever be, but Hollywood doesn't really care what I think. From what I read on BoxOfficeMojo, for worldwide inflation based releases, Snow White is #10, with 101 Dalmatians #11, Fantasia #20, Mary Poppins #23, TLK #24, Jungle Book #27, Sleeping Beauty #28, Bambi #31, Pinocchio #37, and Nemo at #59! FYI, mide you those Disney films include grosses from multiple releases, as Snow White made almost 118 million of it 180 million from rereleases by 1981.

I am not really happy that DreamWorks took the reigns from Disney. I really wish The Incredibles lots of success and hope it becomes bigger than Shrek 2.

Have to agree. I am looking forward to the Incredibles but do not think it will do the business of Nemo or Shrek 2.

Personally I've never seen Shrek 2. Also, they made too big a deal out of it. Considering everytime ya turn the TV on, there the rotter is. It's anoyying as hell (please pardon my language) and I think the only reason they made that much is because of that much advertising.
My friend saw it and said it was great. If I saw it, I would porbably like it too. Shrek was a good movie and alot of ppl said the sequel was one of the BEST SEQUELS. And considering these days sequels are cheaply made or horribly brought an old movie to life again *cough*Cinderella*cough*, it had to be better than Nemo.
But lets pray The Incredibles kick Shrek's butt this year.

I actually like Shrek.......a lot!
I mean yea, overall Disney is a MUCH better company, but still, Shrek is great!!!!! Shrek has great characters, great story, great animation, great message, everything about it is great!

I'm already looking foward to the Shrek 2 dvd, AND in a few years seeing Shrek 3!
but maybe that's just me.....
