I don't remember this quick scene so it's most likely not on the region 1 DVD either or could it be a misconception? There is a scene with a nervous elephant's face being distorted by the foot of another and sweat pours down their face.

I guess the region one DVD doesn't have that either if that info is correct... if there really is a four second scene.
I know someone who has the VHS copy but darn it, they aren't on MSN.

The UK version doesn't contain this scene either, alhtough the BBFC don't list this cut so it is possible this is just a mistake on the UK version.

The BBFC only list something as "edited" if they themselves do the editing, or another version is submitted to them after they refuse a classification or demand cuts.
More and more, studios are aware of what the BBFC considers appropriate for the target audience, and pre-edit before submission. Which is not noted by the BBFC themselves.
That said, the editing here doesn't sound like censorship, a word that is too often thrown about. It's just edited. And we don't know the reason why, it could be a mistake, a film element issue or somehow one of the general trims for TV showing has found its way onto the DVD. But censorship seems the last reason for the edit to me.

That's exactly what I meant, but you said it so much better!
Memo to me: Explain things with more than one sentence!

IMDB gets information from Internet users and nothing is ever truly confirmed there... IMDB is far from an official source on anything.

That's what I thought as well... Do you people know if these scenes really do exist?! Maybe our friend Leonard Maltin could be able to answer this question?

That's what I thought too! From what I have been lead to believe. Those scenes were completed and were edited out back in 194 before the film's release because even then they were considered too stereotypical. Although if they do exist they probably would not classed as censored scenes becuase they never made the original cut?

From what I've read, these scenes were in the original theatrical version but were cut in subsequent years. Since nobody seems to remember seeing these scenes, I have doubts if they really exist!

I reckon you've hit the nail on the head.
Because clearly I have nothing better to do, I've just run an off-air VHS from May '87 (and the print itself is clearly much older) against the DVD copy, and they stay in synch to the frame during this sequence; so if something has gone missing, it was cut long before the DVD era.
But I noticed that you don't actually see the final collapse of the elephant tower - it's shown from an outside shot of the circus tent collapsing and the audience running out. There's no obvious jump in the audio either.
Speaking of the (in)accuracies of IMDb, where is this shot that's supposed to contain 6 black crows rather than 5, as listed in the Trivia section. I'll be darned if I can spot it.

Dumbo was the first Disney movie I saw (I just saw it today again)
I saw it with my mom who rented it and we both loved it (I even bought her a small plush toy of Dumbo).
When the DVD came out I ran to buy it... and then

. I found the movie was not what it meant for me back then.
So now it is a movie I watch once a year. Not that I find it a bad movie but it isn't something to watch frequently.
I'm glad I have it tough.
PS
As a kid I always hated the bastard that molested Dumbo.... and still I do

I could beat that boy as to leave him in bed for a month.
... One of the most cleverest moments I've seen in a Disney movie or any movie for that matter is the scene with that bastard. I love the moment when he makes fun of Dumbo for his big ears and in that same moment there is a zoom to his. It's not just that the scene works perefectly well but the timing of his words and the animation is just perfect.

Whatch the language
Dumbo had everything going against it:
-little money
-1 hour runtime
-mute protagonist
but it still managed to become a classic that is in my top 5 Disney. The fact that he doesn't speak only enhances the film, leaving more room for the animators to work with facial expressions, like with Pluto. Because of this the miraculous animation really stands out. The dancing crows are IMO one the best sequences, Ward Kimball was a God. Pink Elephants was also stunning, the most invenive, original, WTF animated sequence ever. The themes are also timeless, making this movie last through the ages.

Back in the 80s when I was a kid, I had this book and tape set that I used to read and listen to the story of Dumbo. I believe this was before Dumbo was even released on vhs. I used to love the songs Did you ever see an elephant fly and Casey Junior. I loved Dumbo. I still do now. I have Dumbo on vhs. I am waiting, (just the same as for Pocahontas), for the Special Edition.

Some facts about Dumbo:
-Dumbo was released in theaters only about 2 month's before the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor
-Dumbo was cheaply made, only about $812,000, which is small compared to Pinocchio, Fantasia or Bambi, which cost from $2-3 million
-Walt Disney hardly worked on Dumbo, he was too busy making Bambi
-Dumbo is only 64 minutes long, one of the shortest Disney features of all time

That is way too bad! Of course,
Bambi is a wonderful movie, but so is
Dumbo!

This is complete randomness but Merman, I love your avatar. Where'd you get it? Or did you make it yourself?
Um... ahem, yeh, Dumbo was a cute (if a bit sad) movie. I saw this movie from beginning to end several times when I was in middle school but I hardly remember anything about it aside from the circus sequence.

I got the chance to see Dumbo tonight, I must say I did like it. It proves my point even more of how Walt could make empathy be felt for any character. The "Baby Mine" sequence was very touching and was a wonderful scene, but Timothy and Dumbos intoxication induced "Pink Elephants" may be giving me nightmares for a while. All and all, a good flick, but still doesn't hold a candle to what he did 2 years later
P.S. - BTW What were they smoking whenever they came up with the Pink Elephants sequence, WOW..Such and odd sequence that just felt out of place to me, but hey thats just my opinion.
