That's all it takes for many fans, regardless of how horrible the movie is. I know I myself would like to own them, even if only to watch them once.

Wingy, is that Stand By Me animated short a WDAS production? Something tells me it isn't ... The animation quality is good, but it doesn't look as good as the stuff that usually comes out of the studio. I'll even bet that was inked and painted on cels and not digital ink and paint.

Something about the outlines ...

It's a Walt Disney Television Animation production, and was animated by Walt Disney Animation Australia. The ink and paint was indeed digital, done by Cambridge Animation Systems. It was released theatrically with Tom and Huck in 1995. As far as I can tell it's never been available on DVD but it was on a VHS release of the Best of Roger Rabbit. I also remember seeing it on TV several years ago. Hope this helps! :)

Was 2 and 1 1/2 both done by the austrain studio? because the 1 & 1/2 was looked much better than 2. I actually hate 2 with a passion but didn't mind 1 & 1/2. The animation was surprisinly close to the original, would like to know what else the studio has done. They don't exist anymore do they? I think I heard they shut down a while back.

My only gripe was the constant interruptions from Timone and Pumba.

2 though, that movie just came off like a back knock off. at least 1 & 1/2 had good animation, mostly original voices and some decent jokes every now ad then.

Yes, both are credited to being done at the Australian studio, as well as DisneyToon Studios (1 1/2 also includes Walt Disney Television Animation).

I really hate how the top of Simba's mane and his chin is cropped out on the Blu-ray as opposed to just making the entire top half smaller so he can fit in the frame.

Seriously, the Disney cover-art artists seem to be getting lazier and lazier.

 That is the funnest thing Ive seen in a while. cropping off a character's chin is a major no no. you can get away with losing the top of a character's head, so long as at least one eye is still visible, but the chin should always be completely in frame. Its almost never a good idea. unless of course the character is purposely hiding behind something, also not showing their mouth.

This isn't laziness though, its just a lousy decision in composition. Laziness would be knowing you should do better but don't feel like doing it. In cases like this they are clearly capable of doing better, they just think their way is better for whatever stupid reason.

Any chance of a coupon for these releases? Hoping DMR will put one out. I wouldn't be surprised if a store or all of them have a deal with X dollars off with a purchase of both on the same receipt. Anyone hear anything?

Nothing yet, but there was a coupon for Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas when that came out on Blu-ray in December. The coupon came out the weekend before release, so I'd say if we're getting one we'll know by Sunday.

I'm also thinking that a few stores may offer special prices for buying both at the same time. Target recently has been taking $5 off of a second title when you buy the new release. Best Buy will do the same from time to time. Those deals in combination to DMR coupon's and price matching, I've been able to get some really good deals from Best Buy.

I think The Lion King II is a pretty good film that would easily stand up amongst some of the other classics. The Lion King 1 1/2 on the other hand...may be one of the worst animated films I've ever seen.

^ Well that's crap!

I just read an email from DMR advertising these releases. Unfortunately there is no mention of a coupon.

On the bottom of the email they are advertising that if you enter any 2 codes between now and 5/31/12 you can pick a free copy between The Bridge to Terebithia on Blu-ray, A Bug's Life on Blu-ray (the re-release with the half title/half character image cover), and Tinkerbell on Blu-ray. Seems like a good thing, but if they're doing this instead of coupons... it's rediculously cheap.

Bah!
I wasn't going to buy it but an HD version could have convinced me to buy it for that alone.
