The movie would just look really blurry without the glasses, which could be a problem.

Unfortunately, no. Two different images are combined together on the screen, one slightly different for each eye, and trying to look at them without the glasses is doubled and blurry, something like this:Disney's Divinity wrote:I have no experience with 3D in theaters, but can't you just take the glasses off and watch the film like normal?![]()

Umm, didn't you just answer your question? The immersion is the entire appeal of 3D. I like how 3D acts as a way to removes that barrier between the movie and the audience, so I don't feel like Im just watching a projected image on a flat surface.dvdjunkie wrote:Why all the excitement over these films. They were never originally shot in 3-D and will probably be like "The Lion King" and just be immersive.
Yeah...I thought all the scenes including Zazu flying were the best in 3D. Other than that....well there were some scenes I liked....Be Prepared was great, or basically all the musical numbers were the best in 3D. But I mainly went to see it to be on the big screen, though I asked my fiance about seeing it in 2D in and she said that we can do that at homedisneyprincess11 wrote:I have mixed feelings about this.
I think it’s great and I’ll defiently check them out! I really like the quote and I agree with it:But, at the same time:“Great characters and great stories are timeless, and at Disney we’re fortunate to have a treasure trove of both,” Disney President Alan Bergman said in a news release. You know what else is timeless? Generating additional revenue from existing motion pictures.
1) It’s so pointless. The 3D in The Lion King, Tangled, and Toy Story 3 hardly did anything. The only highlights of 3D in Disney pretty much are Zazu in Circle of Life
my thoughts exactly. i missed all the pixar films between bugs life and ratatouille, so looking forward to finally seeing them properly, even if it is 2 years away. lol.monorail91 wrote:Wowza, Disney definitely opened the flood gates on this one! SUPER excited, as with Lion King, I am just so happy to see these fantastic movies back on the big screen, no matter how many dimensions.

Thank goodness, I wasn't sure if it was only available in 3-D or not...azul017 wrote:For those vehemently anti-3D people, Disney will likely include a 2D showing during the first two weeks of the re-releases. For The Lion King re-release, most theater chains (like Carmike and AMC) were required to have the 2D show as the first show of the day, and then the shows afterward are in 3D.
So don't fret yet.
I think Disney's Divinity meant that he prefers 2-D to 3-D, or at least the original version of a film to an altered one.Disney Duster wrote:Disney's Divinity wrote:That...sucks.

Oh well hopefully theaters near you have the 2D options with the 3D ones.Disney's Divinity wrote:I just thought I would be able not to use the 3D glasses and get the regular, 2D experience.EDIT: Yeah, what Dr. F said.
