There are people who are doing that in the world, don't get me wrong, there are just not enough....it's sad but it's the logical truth....
In fact, all over the world the exact kind of activities that cause the augmentation of carbon-dioxide is rapidly increasing. In countries like China, India and Brazil tens of millions of people are moving up to the middle classes and many more are about to, with all the consequences that goes with it, like much bigger usuage of energy --and the sky-rocketing increase of meat consumption by these people who are now finally able to afford it. And the production of meat is the no. 1 cause of carbon dioxide production.
But what can we do? Ask those poor people to please stay in their slums and not move into real houses provided with showers, gas ovens and electric light? If policies like those now in place in almost all of Latin-America continue to go on (like I hope and 'pray' they will), millions more will move up the social and economic ladder and contribute to this problem. But I'm rooting for these people to finally be saved from poverty.

Maybe Obama will do it if he gets re-elected?
Because Democratic presidents, like Republican presidents, are being bought and paid for by the energy companies. The only difference is Democratic presidents will at least give some lip-servive to the green cause, whereas Republican presidents flat-out deny climate change is happening. I mean, when it comes to this issue, Republican politicians are either corrupt or just plain stupid, like the Tea Party candidates, who tell you 'global warming' isn't true, because it snowed last winter...
The last president who tried to tackle this issue, Jimmy Carter, was being thrown out of office because he gave a speech the American people didn't want to hear. They labeled it "the malaise speech". The US was facing oil shortages due to a boycot of OPEC countries, and Carter took that opportunity to urge the American people to use less gas and energy. Under his presidency, the usage of oil indeed lowered for the first and only time in history. Carter installed solar panels on the roof of the White House to give Americans the good example.
But 'sacrifice' is not what the people wanted to hear. So after his campaign team sabotaged the president's negotiations to free the American hostages in the embassy in Teheran, Ronald Reagan was elected on a platform of "everything is magically going to get better and there's nothing you have to do for it". His first act was to remove the solar panels from the White House roof. Oil usage skyrocketed (partly due to the skyrocketing increases in military spending) and environmentalism was his enemy.
Ever since Reagan, Democrats have increasingly been to the right of him (even though the corrupt media still call them 'liberal' or 'left', which they aren't), so why should they do anything about this problem?
By the way, if Obama keeps embracing the plan of the 'Gang of Six' to cut Social Security to fight the deficit (though SS doesn't add to the debt), while handing out even more tax breaks for multi-millionaires and big corporations (the plan that's on the table now), he might not even get re-elected. The liberals are not happy at all with this, and even though they've been scolded and pushed aside for years by the DLC, Obama needs them to get re-elected. Lots of them are saying they'll stay home come election day if Obama agrees on this suidicide-for-the-working-class pact.

You shouldn't compliment him, but Rush Limbaugh. That's where he gets his fact-less talking points from. I know for sure, cause he parrotted those childish insults word for word.
Bill Maher lays waste on global warming deniers, pointing out that when it comes to issues of science, the non-scientists should not have a vote; and that the media should stop giving attention to people who don't know shit, but have an opinion nonetheless.
