"When You Wish Upon a Star" - for overall Disney-ness
Here's a random Top 5... sans the obvious BatB, part o' your world, etc.
"Down in New Orleans" (prologue, Dr. John, & Anika)
"One Jump Ahead" (& reprise)
"God Help the Outcasts"
"Go the Distance"
and TLK's Hula Song.
Well...

I'm one of those steriotypical Disney fans who worship films Disney made in the 80s and 90s so-
Part of your World-Little Mermaid
Circle of Life-Lion King
[Go the] Distance-Hurcules
Make a Man [Out of You]-Mulan
Whole New World-Aladdin
And if I was forced to pick one from this decade either-
Dig a Little Deeper- Princess and the Frog
I see the Light-Tangled (on the internet, but I saw a screening

If I had to pick just one song, it would have to be Part of Your World (and if Fantasia is counted, then it would be Mussorgsky's Night On Bald Mountain). Part of Your World is a song that has always stuck with me because I feel like I'm always longing for another place, which is exactly what Ariel/Jodi is singing about. I couldn't thinking of another song (with lyrics) that takes me up to that level. And with Glen Keane's wonderful animation and the orchestration by Menken, the song is practically perfect. I would add the Reprise in, too, but it's technically another song (even though it's just an addition to the original).

If I had to settle for just one song, then it would be
Reflection... It's probably the only Disney song that speaks to me on a personal level - pretty much like the movie it comes from – about defying expectations and accepting your true self.
And just for the heck of it (and since everybody else is doing it), here are my favorite Disney songs, Wondy-style

:
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – With A Smile And A Song
- Dumbo – Baby Mine
- Cinderella – A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes
- Lady and the Tramp – Bella Notte
- The Aristocats – Scales and Arpeggios
- Oliver & Company – Once Upon A Time In New York City
- The Little Mermaid – Kiss The Girl
- Beauty and the Beast – Beauty And The Beast
- Aladdin – A Whole New World
- The Lion King – Circle Of Life
- Pocahontas – Just Around The Riverbend
- Hercules – (I Won't Say) I'm In Love
- Tarzan – Strangers Like Me
- Lilo & Stitch – Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride
- Brother Bear – On My Way
- The Princess and the Frog – Friends On The Other Side

i feel like the best executed disney song is "be our guest". lyrically and musically, this number is super ambitious and fun, a true broadway performance. and the voice actors and animators just nail everything about it. it is perfect.
as far as other disney songs go, i am not a fan of their sappier songs. the most memorable and best, to me, are the villain songs. (particularly "friends on the other side", "hellfire", "be prepared", "gaston", "trust in me", the siamese cat song", "the world's greatest criminal song", "the mob song" even the recurring "cruella de ville" tune )
and no, i did not mention the embarrassingly bad home on the range yodeling villain song.

For the longest time, my favorite Disney song of all time has been "The Second Star to the Right" from Peter Pan.

Partly because I'm lazy, but mostly because it's a good idea, I'm going to copy Wonderlicious's list as well. And I'm not even going to try to say my favourite song because there are just too many.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: With A Smile And A Song
Pinocchio: When You Wish Upon a Star
Dumbo: Baby Mine
Bambi: Love is a Song
Cinderella: Sing Sweet Nightingale
Alice in Wonderland: Very Good Advice
Peter Pan: You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!
Lady and the Tramp: Bella Notte
Sleeping Beauty: Once Upon a Dream
101 Dalmatians: Cruella De Vil
The Sword in the Stone: The Legend of the Sword in the Stone
Mary Poppins: Feed The Birds
The Jungle Book: My Own Home
The Aristocats: Thomas O'Malley
Robin Hood: Oo-de-lally
Oliver and Company: Why Should I Worry?
The Little Mermaid: Part of Your World (Reprise)
Beauty and the Beast: Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin: Friend Like Me
The Lion King: Circle of Life
Pocahontas: If I Never Knew You (Does this count? If not, Colours of the Wind)
Toy Story: You've Got a Friend in Me
The Hunchback of Notre Dame: Heavens Light/Hellfire
Hercules: I Won't Say (I'm In Love)
Mulan: I'll Make A Man Out Of You
Tarzan: Two Worlds
The Princess and the Frog: Almost There
Lovely Lyrics

This is hard! I love "Part of Your World" because it makes me feel Ariel's emotions, but I also love the Tiki Tiki Tiki Room song because it is so joyful.
If I was thinking smart I would have used "You'll be in my Heart" for the mother son dance at our wedding. My MIL asked us to pick something and I couldn't think of anything I liked so we used something generic.
I also really love Snow White's songs. "With a Smile and a Song" is one of my favorites to sing, and her Wishing Well song is so sweet too. I know so many people think she has a shrill voice, but I think it is lovely.

Wow, "Ratigan"...really? Interesting choice.
I totally forgot about "When You Wish Upon a Star" when I posted earlier (I put "Part of Your World). But "When You Wish Upon a Star" has such awesome orchestration. I love the music box opening. I think it beats "Part of Your World." Some of my other favourites are "The Bare Necessities," which also has a great instrumental section; "The Best of Friends," for sentiment's sake; "Whistle While You Work;" and "Hi Fiddle-dee-dee," because "you stop and buy out a candy store" when you're an actor. I love that line.
Also, I love
The Firebird from
Fantasia 2000. I don't really think it counts, though.

Part of your world!!!!!!!! No matter what situation, it always fits in my life! =)
Also, there are:
Colors of the Wind (Pocahontas)
Go the distance (Hercules) - I prefer the spanish version by Ricky Martin, but I love the english version too =)
One song (Snow White) - I don't know why, it always gives me goosebumps!! I think it's because seeing that gorgeous old film, I feel like I'm nobody (Its the oldest, and have all my respect and admiration!!)
That 4 songs are the top of my list (of course it's much longer!)

Part Of Your World : No question , this beats all other animated songs out of the ball park for me. As mentioned by
TheSequelOfDisney, I pretty much agree on all of your points that you mentioned. Again, if I could have the reprise in there as well, I would !
Quite often I listen to the 'Disney On Ice' recording of Part of Your World as it merges the two songs into one, so its just perfect for me

I've got two questions for you,
atlanticunderthesea. First, is it a rendition by Jodi, and second, if so, are the two songs the same renditions from the movie, just edited together?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, it is indeed Jodi
And second, the first part (POYW) is from the movie, and the second (POYW-Reprise) is an entirely new recording

Oooh! Thanks that's wonderful! I'll have to seek this recording out, now.
