Anyways, the original is perfect in my opinion. I loved the new scene in Pocahontas, but that was a cut scene. It was like... well, like if they had actually cut "Part of Your World" from Little Mermaid. That's what Pocahontas was like for me without "If I Never Knew You." Adding it back in really fixed the movie for me, and made it wonderful! The new scene in Lion King wasn't really necessary, and even Beauty and the Beast didn't need the new scene, though it wasn't bad. If they want to add something, add an episode of Jungle Cubs or make a new Jungle Book short cartoon. Nothing wrong with that. Look how PIXAR always releases their DVDs with new shorts about the stars.
maybe release it alongside Jungle Book 3

My guess is there will be a DisneyPedia like segment on the Jungle Book Platinum Edition, similar to what they had on The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Lady and the Tramp ect. This is the segment that shows the aminals of the film in their natural habitats and gives some information on them. The Jungle Book is filled with great animals, so I would very much expect to see this DisneyPedia-like bonus feature on the PE.

I think there was a fair amount of extras on the last laserdisc edition of The Jungle Book. There was an appearance of Frank and Ollie, and maybe the Shermans as well - I don't remember exactly and won't be able to check for a long while.

Awesome, I'm glad there is an official date now (even though that was what I assumed the date was going to be). I know it won't be anytime soon, but I am so anxious to see coverart for The Jungle Book's Platinum Edition Release. I hope it looks amazing :D

Just to let you all know, that's not necessarily the "official" release date. It would just be assumed that the set will be released the first Tuesday of October, which happens to be October 2 next year.

Yes, something got deleted... there was a cover art picture in here earlier for The Jungle Book, but it was definately not the real or official cover.

True, but if you scan the conversation, no-one actually says the word "official" :P I think we're all just getting excited, and are trying to find any piece of information we can! :D

What was the cover art on Photobucket? I didn't get to see it.
Anyway, here's me fan-art cover-art, I'm not that great at photoshop, but it's fun to design a disney dvd cover art whilst waiting for the real cover art to be released.

Here it is:

Anyway, I made the cover art that looks like my old cover art. See?

Baloo, the red nosed Disney Bear, Disney Bear
Use to sleep with Mow-ga-li, WITH MOWGLI
But all the Wolves warned him, Warned him
Shere Khan would be around instantly, Instantly!

I like that DVD fan-art, but whats with Baloo's red nose :P Plus if you don't look at King Louie, it looks like Baloo has a kidney hanging out or something.

Nobody knows what the features will be, we're just speculating. Best bet is to wait for the press release, and considering the fact that it's a year away, we won't get the press release until probably Spring or Summer 2007.
