My first Disney DVD was The Lion King: PE in October 2005. My mom (after giving my VHS copy to my little cousin ) came home with it from the store. I dont know what store she found it in cause by that time, TLK: PE was OOP and hard to find. Especially brand new in a store! Im always greatful my mom got it for me cause 1. It saved me the trouble of having to hunt it down. and 2. I got a free DVD out of it! :D

Then in November of 2005, I started working at the Disney Store and started buying a DVD here, another one there... then I became obsessed and had to have all the Disney DVD's. (My favorites, anyway)

Also, you can click here for a similar thread on non-Disney DVD's.

You should ask her where she found it! Also, I got my copy of TLK in Oct. 2005, too! But mine was $12.99 used at GameStop, all inserts, but no slipcover :(

I'm not entirely sure, actually. I believe it was The Lion King Platinum Edition
I've loved Disney ever since I was little.. I grew up to it.

I really wasn't into collecting the DVDs, yet I was.
Everytime one came out that I needed, I got it.

It wasn't until recently that I've been really into it ($280 later on Disney DVDs for my birthday).

Well, about 6 1/2 years and 1200 DVDs ago, I picked up the Limited Issue Pinnochio (DVD #4) and Lady and the Tramp (DVD #5,) sometime around May of 2000.

The Jungle Book quickly followed (DVD #8,) then came Snow White (DVD #12,) Toy Story: Ultimate Toy Box (DVD #18 ) and 101 Dalmations (DVD #19,) followed by a dry spell until The Little Mermaid (DVD #59) and Dumbo (DVD #60.)

That is probably the first year or more of my DVD collecting... My next Disney DVDs were the WD Treasures that came out in Dec. of 2001 (DVDs #68-71.)

Of course, I was collecting Disney Laserdiscs long before DVD came out... I got my Laserdisc player in 1990, and I had the following titles, although I don't know which came first:

Beauty & the Beast: A Work in Progress
Fantasia (Box set)
Honey I Blew Up the Kid (in widescreen)
The Santa Clause (uncut)
Snow White (Box set)
Toy Story (Box set)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit

I gotta say, those Laserdisc box sets were NIIICCEE!!

I think my first Disney dvd was The Sword in the Stone. I bought it from Toys 'R' Us in October/November 2004. That Christmas I received Peter Pan (Limited Issue :( ), The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Sleeping Beauty, and the Lion King as gifts. After that I started to collect the classics on dvd. Right now I have 31 of them.

My Disney DVD collection (in fact, my entire DVD collection) got started in October 2001, when Snow White was released. So Snow White was my first Disney DVD. Followed by...
  • 1. Alice In Wonderland (GC), which I later replaced with the ME version
    2. Pinocchio GC
    3. Fantasia 60th Anniversary
    4. WDT: Disneyland
    5. WDT: Silly Symphonies

I started collecting Disney DVDs when I bought a used copy of Snow White PE, but I had been given BaTB PE before as a gift, but Snow White really just spoke to me, the way the DVD was presented and I was like, wouldn’t it be cool if I had all my favorite Disney movies on DVD? and look where I am now! :D

My first Disney DVD was The Beauty and the Beast - Deluxe Edition (in Germany there were two versions of this DVD, on with one disc and the Deluxe Edition with two discs).
I got it for 18 Euros at a fleemarket (new - it was still sealed) and I don't regret the buy.

Considering that I wasn't really collecting DVDs at that time, I'm happy that I bought it. I guess if I hadn't seen it at that fleemarket, I wouldn't have been looking for it at all and I wouldn't have it now.

My first Disney DVD was my first DVD.

It was the Fantasia Anthology set back in April of 2001. I bought it before I even owned a DVD Player!

That was my first DVD, but far from where my collection of Disney animation/material started.

Well, the VERY first Disney DVD I ever got was The Black Hole from Anchor Bay (back in the red case). I probably picked up Tron shortly thereafter. But those two releases didnt really open the flood gates. It wasnt until I got my hands on the Disneyland USA WDTreasures that I got hooked.

I remember so well because of the strange circumstances involved. I was about 2 days away from going on a vacation to Disneyland for a week. I was at Costco looking for some luggage when I swung by the DVD section. Now, I had not kept up on the release, so I had no idea anything about them, or that they'd be rare or anything. But the back, talking about the opening of the park and snapshots of the parks history was a perfect setup for my trip.

So I got it, total blind buy - and loved it. I'd never been much into Disney animation (still not really), but I really liked the live action show. So from then I've been picking up the discs with Disneyland anthology on it. (Finally getting the Davey Crocket set - which I had in my hand at the time when I got D:USA, but put it back out of ignorance).

And I'm really looking fowards to "Your Host. . . ." That one sounds smooth (even if they are doubleing up Disneyland episodes)

The first Disney DVD was Brother Bear in 2004 shortly after changing to DVD format. Then I bought BatB off ebay in November. And then about 15 followed. My collection is not really big.

Well, well, BB, long time no see (or in this case, chat)! Where ya been?
 Ha, well, I've just been busy with school stuff...as usual. And lately, I haven't had much time to reply to as many topics as I would like...(grr...evil teachers giving me an overload on homework!!) BUT, none-the-less, I'm still here. I just won't be replying that often until Christmas Break starts...or on December 21st. :( And after exams...

Well, for about 15 years or so I have had the notion of collecting Disney films (particularly and animated ones). I never acted upon that notion until about exactly 3 years ago. My parents bought me Gods and Generals for Christmas but I already owned it so I took it back to Wal-Mart to get a different title. I saw Sleeping Beauty there on the shelf and I knew that titles only had a limited time on the shelf before being put in the vault (I used to think every title was like that) so I snatched up Sleeping Beauty because it was such a beautiful (no pun intended) film. Shortly after I snagged Fantasia and I continued buying the various titles that were available. I have continued to buy the films (usually within days of release) until now I have about 90 Disney DVDs (or something like that).
