I think it's due for Spring/Summer, I asked in the UK Announcement Thread

Play have put up a holding page for Robin Hood Special Edition:
http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/3275130/ ... oduct.html
They also have a holding page for a Robin Hood/Dumbo Boxset (No sequels for a traditional Disney UK boxset) so I assmue this is almost all ready to go.

Thank you.
I got Silly Symphonies with the tin from Play not too long ago. Wouldn't like to say if they still have any left, especially when I'm replying two months after you posted
I have seen a couple of sites around where they give you the option to buy the tin version or the regular version. Can't think of any off the top of my head but they exist, although the tin version costs about £20 compared to the regular version being about £6.
You'll be very lucky to get a tinned version of Donald because I think it's the most popular of the Treasures out here. eBay is probably your best bet.

I have a question. I'm from the U.S., but I'm curious as to your opinions. I was reading about how headbutts and other "violence" is removed from U-rated movies. In America, though, our G-rated movies (which I'm assuming is the same as U?) don't have the same guidelines. Would there be a way (obviously the BBFC would have to decide, not us normal people) to have to similar ratings, one being the existing U, and one being something similar, so that the uncut movies can be released? So, if a person sees 2 copies of "Mulan" on the shelf of the video store, for example, they'll notice that one is the edited U, and one is the new rating (they'll know that the U was edited, since there also would be copies with the new rating, meaning it's unedited).
It's not fair to only be able to have the edited versions...not only kids buy the movies. And I wouldn't care if my kids (when I have them) saw a headbutt. Even in America, where I believe there are stricter TV guidelines than in Europe, there is so much worse stuff on TV.

There is a law (or maybe a policy) that two versions of a title cannot be released concurrently (even if the rating is the same). This is because (apparently) to do so would cause confusion. This is why the UK generally only gets "directors cuts" of movies if two are available. For example, only the extended "Ballard of Ricky Bobby" was released this monday. Although it is allowed for a package to contain more than one edit, as long as it is sold as one unit. So our Blade III, like the US one, was allowed to contain both versions of the film. The package would show the highest rating in the event of different ratings being assigned to different versions.

Well, it is a bit silly, because our TV is not regulated by the BBFC, and does allow head-butts on Children's TV (although this is rare). Generally, Europe, including the UK, tends to be more liberal when it comes to sexuality than the US, but more restrictive than the US when it comes to violence.

Thanks, 2099net! Question:
Are your package films edited over in the UK? Like, does Pecos Bill get to smoke, and are there hillbillies fighting?

Melody Time is uncut in the UK, and we are still awaiting Make Mine Music on DVD, although an unedited version of Make Mine Music was available on VHS a long way back.
Your theory is interesting 2099net and certainly makes a lot of sense. One thing which I would say could throw a spanner into that theory is that currently there are two versions on Spirited Away floating around with idential cover and contents yet one has a PG label and others a 12. Whether this was a goof or not I don't know, but the BBFC is strict and usually in the case of misprinted ratings a sticker with the correct rating needs to be placed over the top.
The other issue with the BBFC is that they are in essence pointless. They provide ratings so that theatre owners know who to let in or not. But now theatre is legally obliged to follow any rating the BBFC impose.

No, its definetely a fact about duel-releases. They used to insist as well that if a film was, say, PG in the cinema, a different 15 edit couldn't be released on home video. But they've changed that now, but as far as I know duel releases still aren't allowed. (I can't think of any films released with a normal cut and a director's cut in the UK).
As for Spirited Away is the content the same? I don't think that there's been two releases as such has there? I would think that this is a mistake rather than by design.

The Spirited Away 12 rating is a typo. My brother has that DVD, and on the inside, the disc clearly has the PG symbol on it.

Ok, question:
Does the UK dvd of Old Yeller have the audio commentary?
The reason I ask is because I recently purchased the US 2-movie collections of Old Yeller and The Parent Trap.
I would really like to have the commentaries that were on their initial Vault Disney releases.
I know the UK Parent Trap has the commentary but about Old Yeller I'm not sure.
I suppose it hasn't, because the Dutch dvd of this film doesn't have it. But I thought I'd ask first, before I might try to get my hands on a (more expensive) copy of the Vault Disney release.
Then another question:
Is the European release of the animated "Robin Hood Most Wanted Edition" (Special edition) in all aspects the same as the US version (apart from PAL vs NTSC), or are their differences? (transfer / bonus features)

I just saw a 101 Dalmations ad on TV, the one where they advertise the free soft toy you can get with the DVD, but the footage of the film was shockingly bad quality. I hope the actual DVD has far better picture quality than that.

So, is the UK 101 Dalmatians DVD widescreen or not...?
This review reveals that the French release is fullscreen like the R1 DVD.

Although I don't actually know - one check of the BBFC says Widescreen, it was rated on December 17th 2007.
BBFC
That's the last version put through since 1997 so I presume it will be Widescreen as no Fullscreen version has been rated since around 1997

Hello again.
Does anyone know the answer to my question?
Is the UK Old Yeller dvd with or without the audio commentary?

I have tried searching for this answer but to no avail:
Is there a list of DVD released in R2 that have not been released in the states?
I tried UD's list but it seems out of date (not including The Incredible Journey for example) - I know about:
So Dear To My Heart
The Incredible Journey
Big Red
One Of Our Dinosaurs Is Missing
Condorman
Meet The Deedles
I-Man
As well as Jungle Book Live Action), 101 Dalmatians & 102 Dalmatians that are OOP in R1
Are there others?
Thanks Much
