If they put all the effort they made into making all the new songs in all these finished movies into one new movie, that would be wonderful

I agree, if they put this much effort into a new film, they might have a classic on their hands.

I want it just as it appeared in the theatres in 1989.

Period.
And I KNOW I'm not alone.[/quote]
Nope you're not alone. I totally agree. Disney HAS to stop adding new scenes for little kids, atleast for beauty and the beats you could choose to play either version. But I think disney should stop putting in new songs and stuff. If it works dont fix it!

I totally agree, and why do people screw with the classics, as if stating that what made hundreds of millions of dollars and created a huge fanbase, is somehow inferior to these "enahnced new scenes and songs"?

Just give us what we loved in the theatre!!

This "add new scenes" epidemic should be referred to as George Lucas Syndrome, a deadly and highly infuriating disease whose scope is growing by the day.

Whaddya think, Luke?

This hardly surprises me. How many films have been destroyed by adding a new song? Well BatB, TLK, and the upcoming Aladdin DVD. By now let's hope that they dont do any touch ups whatsoever. Sure, they're not gonna run anymore IMAX versions but please please have the original this time. I'm still in a big fuss on how BatB and TLK got destroyed now we can expect the same for Aladdin and Little Mermaid. Original Theatrical Release my butt!!!!!

Man, why can't they just leave the movie the way it is and maybe put any deleted songs or scenes as part of the special feature on the DVD?! Why mess up a good thing? Although I did like the new song in Beauty and the Beast. It was funny seeing the dresser dive into the fountain.

I would love to see this new scene on the DVD as long as they also include the original 1989 version. I actually adore the "Human Again" scene added to "Beauty and the Beast" :)

As long as they include the original, I don't really care. They need to make it just as clear that they are including the original in their marketing though! I didn't buy the Beauty and the Beast Platinum Edition because I thought they only included the version with the new song :x Luckily I found one this week at Roger's Video, so I did eventually get it.

I love calling George Lucas syndrom hahahahahaha! I'm actually skipping the new Star Wars DVD's out of spite, I can just watch my VHS copies of the originals until he comes to his senses.

What's everyone crying about? Is there anything more exciting than more animation for our favorite movies? Personally, I think a new song would be fun. I loved Human Again and it fits in perfectly with the movie and doesn't ruin it. If it was there from the start, no one would be complaining. The Morning Report was rather lame, but it still fit in the movie and didn't ruin it. The animations fit in and if I didn't know it was added, then I wouldn't think it was animated 10 years later.

Like others have said, as long as they include the original in the DVD, which they have been doing for all of them with new songs, we have nothing to worry about. Also, I always thought they were now doing the new songs as extras like they did with I'm Odd. If you don't like the new song and believe it will ruin the movie, then don't watch it. If it was integrated in the only version of the movie one can watch, then hit Skip, and move on to the next chapter as if the song had never existed.

I don't agree with you that 'The Morning Report' fit in the movie. I hadn't seen TLK since it was originally shown in cinemas. I didn't know that Morning Report had been added to the movie and when it came, I sat up straight and exclaimed - What the!? When I later checked the net I got an explanation to the new scene. I admit that I didn't notice the other additions but that doesn't make them ok.

I agree that Human Again fit nicely in B&B, but just because Disney didn't mess up that time, it's still not ok to add scenes. I LOVED the original movies, why do they think they need improving?

I wish that Disney stopped adding these scenes, the serve no purpose at all. I'd much rather have a behind-the-scenes or making-of. Or why not a new 2-D feature! :)

Just my two cents...

I agree 100%, and I am hoping very much that they do go and add the new song! I'm sure they'd make beautiful animation. and you can't go wrong with Jodi Benson singing the song! :)

Kelly Clarkson should sing the new "The Little Mermaid" song on the Platinum Edition DVD.
"A Moment Like This" will be perfect for the addition song to "The Little Mermaid"
Or maybe some one like Jessica Simpson or Mandy Moore could top the spot to sing for the new "The Little Mermaid" song.
Who do you think should sing the new song? :)

So you’re saying that the stars of the Disney Channel sing better then Kelly, Justin, Clay, Ruben, Diana and Fantasia?
Well I like American Idol too much anyway the other Platinum Edition DVD have others singers singing the new added songs.

Is there anyone else besides me and Mermaid Kelly and marcosfts the only ones looking forward to this new song? I agree that Jodi Benson would be the best candidate to sing. Afterall, she is the true Ariel. Kelly Clarkson would probably be good for the credits or something. You know, the pop artist who sings the radio version of the songs.

NO! I DEFINATELY AM!!!!!!!

Infact I was really bummed that one didn't get put in Aladdin, and I'm really tired of people bitching about the new songs. They're not added to make the movies "better" as if anything was wrong with them before, but rather to add something new, something that wasn't there before, to excite the fans, that crave any extra footage of their favorite movies. And disney and George weren't the first to add footage to their movies that wasn't innitially there before... there is something called a director's ut, and ever since the video format has come out, SE's with added footage, have been released. For goodness sake, both the version with the song as well as the version w/o will be included, and whether there is a new song or not, if Disney sees fit, that some animation needs to be touched up, that is what they are going to do, so that shouldn't be anyone's excuse for not liking the new songs...

You've never watched a single episode of American Idol, yet you claim to hate it? Sounds kind of vain to me...
Sometimes it seems to me that people hate the popular stuff purely for that reason, because it's popular and they want to be different(I'm not accusing you of that, Mermaid Kelly, I just felt the need to say)

I agree with almost every word you say, Prince Phillip.
Not that I would encourage Disney to add in anything new(if they are not considering adding anything, I wouldn't pray for a new song or anything), but I'm enchanted if something new is added(unless, of course, whatever is added is horrendous, or does not add to the story).

Hey, if people are buying the PEs for the new songs, who are we to complain? The more money Disney gets from these, the more time they're likely to spend on them, and the more they're likely to make. Besides, the new songs are kind of cool. I like "Human Again" and I liked Morning Report when I saw it on Broadway, even if it doesn't fit with the movie as well as I would have liked. I do agree with pretty much everyone else on one point though - I want the original theatrical version too! I have it on VHS, but it's not the same. Plus those new crocodiles on TLK look really screwed up . . . I'd hate to see what they might do to Flotsam and Jetsam.
As for the American Idol debate . . . pop songs during the credits are annoying, and Jodi Benson should sing.

I know I know I really like the new songs but they don't fit in the movie correctly. Knowing Disney they won't pick Jodi Benson to sing the new song but might be on the DVD like Celine Dion was for Beauty and the Beast. I say Kelly Clarkson is great for the part.
