Well, Disney likes to double dip, and especially things released outside of the Treasures Collection are fair game. So, even if "Figaro and Cleo" is on the next Pinocchio release, it still should be expected in a Disney Treasures release at some point.

Also, some of the educational shorts would fit well into a second rarities set.

Most importantly though, they don't HAVE to limit themselves to theatrical shorts. The set could be "Walt Disney Treasures: Disney Rarities: Rarely Seen Disney Animation" or something like that. In fact, an eductional shorts set could also be under the Disney Rarities title. "Disney Rarities: The Educational Shorts."

Anyways, whatever the title, here's what I would include on a second Disney Rarities edition:

I could also see them including certain episodes from the Disney anthology series (like the aforementioned Fluppy Dogs) that feature lots of new animation. Some suggestions would be "Pacifically Peeking" with Moby Duck, any of the Ludwig Von Drake episodes, and, well, there's a lot to choose from. There's even the recent stuff I've harped on and on about, like "Totally Minnie" and "The Mickey Mouse Birthday Celebration" (don't remember the actual title, but something like that).

Oh, three classics that jump to mind are: The Ranger's Guide to Nature,
Coyote's Lament, and Carnival Time.

There was also a Timon and Pumbaa short where they sang "Stand By Me" that MIGHT not have been part of the TV series. I'm not sure. If it wasn't, then it should be included here. I'd also like to see the Genie's "Great Minds" bits from Saturday mornings, since they aren't likely to include them if the Aladdin TV series ever gets released. Any Disney commercials featuring new animation could be included on a set like this too.

A few of the wartime shorts could be included too, but I doubt they'd want to double dip on controversial stuff. There's also the Loch Ness Monster program that was an extra with the Pete's Dragon DVD, and maybe some films from the theme parks too, such as: Back to Neverland, from the old Disney Animation Tour in Florida. Plus, I'm still waiting for an "in synch" release of Runaway Brain....

There's also supposed to be a 50's educational short featuring Alice from the Disney feature film, but I don't have any info on that right now. It might be "The Nature of Things," but that could be a different one. Anyways, aside from this stuff, there are a ton of Education Shorts to fill up an Education set, but it might be pretty bland if the educational stuff I've listed here isn't included too.

Oh, I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff too.

Since the company has re-acquired Oswald, I believe they absolutely have the right to exhibit those---and I'm certainly hoping they will.

Y'know, if they hadn't put so many Alice cartoons on the first Rarities disc...between the Laugh-O-Grams, the earliest educational shorts, and the Alice & Oswald cartoons, they could practically put out a WDT: The Silent Rarities release.

So many? They only used 7 of the 39 extant films...

between the Laugh-O-Grams, the earliest educational shorts, and the Alice & Oswald cartoons, they could practically put out a WDT: The Silent Rarities release.

If they rounded up all the known surviving silent films - 4 Laugh-O-grams (plus the pilot), 32 more Alices, 11 Oswalds and the 2 dentistry films - that would be enough to pack out a Treasure very neatly indeed. And a very lovely Treasure it would be, too.

I'd get a Silent Treasures set too, if they released one. Though, I also would find it highly unlikely. The Disney Treasures Collection is the only collection of boxed sets I have managed not to miss ANY of. Well, except for some TV show sets that have only released one volume so far, like the Disney Afternoon shows. I have some many shows I want to get, I rarely get beyond the first volume...

Oh, I know it's unlikely, but hey... a man can dream, can't he?

Ah, that Alice short is called "Alice In Communication Land". Just checked on it. Very interested to see that one. It's a shame it wasn't in the Masterpiece Edition of Alice in Wonderland. I really hope they do make an Educational Shorts Disney Treasures set. However, I want all that stuff I listed earlier too.

Well, a handful of silent shorts were included on the "Rarities" set. I'd expect at least one more Treasure with "various" shorts - whether there'd be room for two remains speculation for now. My point is, more silents can (will) still be included, even without an all-silent set.

I'm still really disappointed in the "Your Host Walt Disney" set this year, in terms of the double dipping of "King of the Leprechauns" and especially of the "Disneyland 10th Anniversary" show, which was released on the Disneyland Wave 1 Treasure set. I think it's relevant bringing this up on this thread because I'm afraid this will set a disturbing trend.

Up to now I haven't minded a few cartoons here and there, but if they are going to double dip full hour-long programs from previous Treasure Waves, then I can see the Walt Disney Treasures going on for quite some time. It's been said earlier in this thread, and on another thread discussing this new wave of Treasures, that there are many more Disneyland shows that have not been released.

It's been stated that the focus of this "Your Host" set was for those shows which featured Walt substantially. Walt was in "Leprechuans" quite a bit, but he was not really in "10th Anniversary" so much, at least no more than say one of the Disneyland shows about Silly Symphonies which probably required many introductions. So WHY is Disney including a show previously released on an earlier Treasure when there are other shows that have not been released?

I would LOVE to see the 4th Anniversary and the Kodak '50 special, which I never even heard of before announced for this wave, but not if it means paying good money for half a set, since I already have Disneyland from Wave I and Darby O'Gill.

Does this mean that we will see future waves of Disney Treasures that contain half material previously released, half material that has not been released? Is that fair??? Basically I guess I'm kind of wondering why more people aren't voicing (gentle but firm) opposition to this strategy on the part of Disney. I for one do not intend to support it, so I will not be purchasing "Your Host" - even if I could get it at a bargain basement price.

While I oppose double dipping an hour long progam from another Disney Treasures set, I can't miss out on the other two shows that haven't been released before! I understand trying to make a point, but I just can't miss those, even though I know that's what Disney is relying on.

As for other double dipping, I don't think the Darby O'Gill one should be a problem. It makes sense in this set, it's a great show, and I don't have the Darby DVD yet, ha. I do plan to get it though, but the show hasn't been on any other Treasures sets, so I don't think that double dip is such a crime and I don't mind having two copies of it someday because I really like it. You never know what'll happen to your DVDs... I also can understand double dipping within the Treasures collection when it comes to shorts, such as seeing some wartime Donald shorts again on a Donald set, or stuff like that. They belong on both sets. Not that anyone has mentioned this, just giving an example of excusable/understandable double dipping. Of course, I definitely wish that they would put something else on the Your Host set besides the repeat from the Disneyland set. If they were ever going to double dip from within the Treasures collection, I would want it to be one of the Disneyland set shows that was edited, if the second time we would get the unedited version.

Sure, sometimes a program may rightfully belong in two different sets, because it fits into both "themes" somehow. But I hope there won't be that much double-dipping of hour-long programs within the WDT line...

Especially all of Gallegher; I recorded them off DC but really would like nice copies (and maybe some commentary by Roger Mobley, who's now a minister).

I'd love if Disney did Treasures devoted to the animal shorts; for instance a "horse treasure" with "Run, Appaloosa, Run," "The Horse With the Flying Tail," "Stormy the Thoroughbred, " "Tattooed Police Horse," etc,. a "dog treasure" with "Little Shepherd Dog of Catalina," "Greta the Misfit Greyhound," "Pablo and the Dancing Chihuahua," etc, a "wild animals treasure" with "Wahoo Bobcat," "Flash the Teenage Otter," "Run, Light Buck, Run," etc.

"Small One" is at least on DVD finally! I bought the Region 2 DVD with it on it, then of course the Holiday Favorites disk showed up with both "Small One" and "Mickey's Christmas Carol." Figures.

Well not so much shorts, they have running times in the area of 50 minutes, a few of those titles are episodes of the Disneyland TV show.
