Sign me up for the 2 disc release! At first I was extremely disappointed with the movie, and actually found it [dare I say it] boring. But as it was with the first, it grew on me after a second viewing, and I have no doubt it'll get better and better with each viewing. Though I still find some of the jokes out of place (Elizabeth screaming like a loon on the beach comes to mind) and the ending still has me angered, this one is still definitely worth the double disc purchase.

I want the two disc release and I will buy it the day it comes out!

Why can't they just release one copy of the DVD (the 2 DISC) and that is that?

I hope there won't be a "lost disc" edition later on, either. I'd like to see a mail in offer for that for those who never got it.

OK, dumb question but why did Disney release 2 different versions at the same time for Narnia (a 1 and a 2 disc version) and will do the same for POTC, but for Cars, we have JUST a single-disc release with most UDers here suspecting that down the road we will be treated to a 2nd version of Cars coming out as a 2-disc? What is the difference between these 2 marketing streams?

From the way I see it, when they give us a choice of buying the standard Narnia OR the 2-disc special edition, I went ahead and bought the special edition at the time. (of course now they came out with a 3rd version which I don't intend to get). So in essence they are double-dipping with this formula as much as they are with the Cars. The only difference with Cars is that they only offer the 1-disc version at first and then later bring out a 2-disc. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

My guess for what is happening with the Cars DVD is that because it is more a family film than Pirates of the Caribbean and The Chronicles of Narnia (okay, it is true that these films are family films, but they're less family friendly in my opinion than any of the Pixar films). Disney probably thinks that because family audiences who don't care about extras are the main audience for the DVD, we only get a 1 disc set, whereas they may think that Narnia and Pirates are actually going to appeal more to adults or older kids than families with young kids quite a bit and subsequently, they'll release a 2 disc as well as a 1 disc.

Well either way the "2" is still there and still looks out of place...

But I really don't care. It's the movie I'm after!

I really do not like the artwork. But I don't think that's the final artwork. It looks too choppy...and that obnoxious "2" and the ugly border on the 2-Disc looks really out of place.
I really hope they change it to mirror the first movie's DVD cover art...that way the collection looks pretty .

they will be mirorred..... in a 6 disc box set with all 3 movies.

I fully expect At World's End's dvd to be different again. That will probaply have a III on the spine or nothing at all... the Disneydvd logo probaply movies someplace else or you name it. Disney never makes something match.

So expect it to match once all 3 movies are together in one set.

I love this film. I think it's interesting. It's Walt's birthday and WE get the presents.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Scoring a ninth consecutive weekend as the most popular movie at the foreign box office, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" is poised to become only the third movie to gross more than $1 billion in global ticket sales.

The worldwide box office for the Disney sequel stands at $993.7 million, of which $579.5 million was generated internationally. The $1 billion mark should be exceeded by Friday, the company says.

The global record is held by 1997's "Titanic" (global boxoffice of $1.8 billion), while 2003's "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" ended up with $1.1 billion.

The foreign box office total for "Pirates" was enriched over the weekend by an estimated $11.6 million from 49 territories. Topping the list were France, an estimated $2.4 million in the sixth weekend for a total of $46.5 million, and Japan, $1.6 million for a market total of $78.4 million.

"Miami Vice" grossed an estimated $7.7 million, raising its international gross to $64.5 million. A solid contributor was Japan, where the Michael Mann actioner opened on Saturday, winding the weekend with an estimated $1.7 million.

The No. 3 slot last weekend went to "Cars," which cruised to an estimated $7.1 million from 34 territories, raising its international total to $172 million. The biggest of "Cars"' weekend numbers were posted in Italy: an estimated $2.1 million for a market total of $10.1 million.

"Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties" finished No. 4 with an estimated $6.8 million from 35 markets. No. 5 was "Monster House," the animation title backed by Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg, which remained largely static, pulling an estimated $6 million from 36 markets. It had a solid No. 3 opening in Spain with an estimated $1.3 million.

"The Sentinel" picked up some international push with six openings, registering an overall weekend estimate of $4.6 million and taking its overseas tally to $23.5 million.

"Superman Returns" pulled an estimated $5.1 million, raising its international total to $181 million. It opened at No. 1 in Italy with $3.4 million.

While it might be nice, I cannot see Pirates catching Titanic at this point. it would need almost double what it has already taken in.

Yea it's pretty much done. For all time worldwide gross it'll be behind not only Titanic but The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King also.

I actually liked this movie. Im pretty sure Ill be getting it when it is released.

I will deffinatley be getting the 2-disc. I got the lost disc for the first film by buying the set and keeping the third disc. I gave the actual movie to my brother who didn't have it yet as part of his birthday present. I know this won't be the first time I'm buying this film, either. And even if Pirates 2 doesn't top Titanic, there's another film coming. The first two LOTR's didn't make it past a billion, but the third did. It stands to reason that if the second does, then the third should well over top it.

Well it did finally go over a billion, and it is at #3 in the worldwide box office receipts of all time! Whoo-hoo! But it would need another $800 million to catch Titanic.
