I'm not sure what to make of it yet. It's nice to see the Ninja Turtles living on and being appreciated by a whole new generation of people. But, at the same time it definately has potential to upset life long fans. The previews I have seen so far look kinda lame and I am kinda anticipating a let down -- but we'll see. LONG LIFE THE TURTLES!

Are there any thoughts about the new cgi TMNT movie becoming number one at the box office over the weekend.... I guess you just never know. Although I did see it and I think it hints at the ending of the movie a sequel...

CAUTION SPOILER BELOW

.I actually took this TMNT movie to be a sequel to the TMNT and the Secret of the Ooze... that and combo of the comic books...The Movie takes place in present day and explains on the Ninja Turtles disbanded becaue Leo went off to Central America to train for longer the Splinter wanted him to be off training. Also Karii was in the movie and was the leader of the foot clan... Also here is the line Karii said that I thought could be leading to a TMNT Sequel. She Said something about next time we meet Turtles we will not be allies as we plan to bring back someone from your past and the turtles look around and say Hey you don't think....... and with that the Foot Clan and Karii were gone [/quote]

I was kind of shocked to see TMNT at #1 and Reign Over Me at #8. I guess a LOT of kids saw this movie over the weekend.

I saw TMNT today and it was really good. It focuses on Leo and Raph mostly. Splinter took some getting use to. As did April's sudden love of fighting...though I do admit a lot has probably happened between the last movie and this one. And Casey and April are together! <3
Also I don't think they cut out TMNT 3 from their canon stories, since Splinter had items from their time warp.

Spoilers below...
I think my favorite moment was when Raph and Leo finally had enough with eachother. They had been building up to that. Who was the better fighter? Raph may have physically beat Leo, but that didn't make him a better fighter. I think he realized that when all things were said and done.

Thats true I didnt realize that about TMNT that hte items from the time warp were there... Though now that i think about it their Turtle Hidehout was the same as the third movie all fixed up and stuff and it was that new one since the Foot found their original hideout and was it during the 1st or 2nd movie that the foot found the 1st turtle hideout...Man I have not watched those movies in years... I think I know what I am going to do one of these days.. Watch the original TMNT turtles movies. I think I May understand them better since the last time I saw them was 10.. I have the dvds but I have never watched them...

I know I was there watching it opening night :D I grew up loving Ninja Turtles, so I was worried to see they made a new movie and it was going to be in CG. I have to say though, I was plesantly surprised! Unlike some of the newer series, they kept the characters personalities and looks pretty much the same as the original cartoon series.

And come on, who didn't laugh when they showed Donatello doing tech support? That was priceless..maybe because I used to do tech support myself so I can relate.

I think I was the only one in the theater who LOLed at Donnie doing tech support. I found that especially humorous.

Also, the Foot were defeated, disbanded, and pretty much destroyed (so they thought), perhaps they didn't feel a need to move into another part of the sewer.

But it was nice to see they kept a lot of the original three movies as part of the story, even as tiny cameos. And props to the writers for a fantastic job. Though I wondered how exactly Leo was training to be a leader....all alone in a jungle. It was just odd and never fully explained. But Splinter is like that anyways.

I think more than just kids saw it. In fact, based on its unusually major drops from Friday-Sunday, I bet teens made up a significant portion of the moviegoers, as did 20somethings with kids. Either way, I have to guess that the original series deserves much of the credit for this one's success, at least on opening weekend. If the movie's any good, then it will hold up to some degree rather than a fast-fading fanboy film.

I was surprised by the Box Office this weekend. With 6 new releases opening wide, I thought for sure all of them would get lost in the shuffle. I didn't think any movie would gross over $18 million. Looks like TMNT performed well, while the others got tossed aside.

I saw the TV spot and... the turtles look like CARTOONS. I didn't see any people - are they CGI-ed as well? Or are they real?

Oh okay...

I still don't like CGI very much.

TMNT!!!!!!!!

This movie was soooo friggin sweet. You should all go see it! I've seen it twice so far and honestly wouldnt mind going back for a third viewing. I met and exceeded my expectations. The only disappointment was there wasnt as much April as I would have liked, and I miss her being a reporter.

I actually heard that when they first presented this movie to the ratings board, that it was Rated R. Hehe... I really hope that when they release it on DVD they release an unrated version!!

Totally cant wait for the fifth TMNT movie.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a great film it wasn't anything better then the animated series. I have to say the current animated series was better then this cheesy movie. We can tell that Warner Brothers already is planning to take out 2 more sequels for TMNT.

If this isn't as good as the current series, then I deffinatley won't be seeing this in theaters (or at all). I'm not a fan of the new series. I like the old show and I have some of it on DVD. The original movie was pretty decent, but I remember not caring for the third one.

This feels more like a sequel to the first three movies.

I haven't seen much of the old cartoon, and none of the new stuff, but I do enjoy all three live-action movies.

I agree. I definitely saw it as the fourth in the series, it was just CGI, that's all.

There were a lot of little nods to the previous movies... One of their shelves had the "time travel" lantern thing...

Yea, I noticed that too!! It also had the ooze canister and some samurai armor.
