I collect everything animated (Classics and sequels) except for anything Winnie The Pooh related.

oh no!! another chernabog to keep up with!!!

i only collect the animated classics. i have them all on vhs (up to mulan), am slowly upgrading them all to dvd (buying them when they come out, and picking up the others that are already released here and there when money matters permit). there are some that i don't like that much, but i want to own them so i have the whole collection. also, it is really neat to see how the movies have changed over the years, animation styles, music, effects, story lines.. it's my timeline of animation from disney

as far as live action goes, i don't own any as of yet. i hope to pick up a few of the ones i have seen and liked, which are mainly the older live actions (the vault disney collection, etc.. that time period).

oh well.... welcome to the forum chern3.... even if you are another chernabog we always welcome new ppl on the forum.... and anyway.. lets look at the bright side- at least you added the 'ce' at the end and mad things a little less complicated!

Anyways, back to me (because it is all about me...).
I certainly collect all the animated classics, and I have to say that I DO enjoy them all. Not simply because they are "classics", but because I enjoy animation, and have found something in all of the films I can like.
Mind you, I am a bit of a completist.

I also tend to get a fair few of the sequels (anything animated), and all the Winnie the Pooh releases (and there have been quite a few more in Oz!).
I buy the live action stuff if I think it is going to be a good DVD (like the Vaults/SEs).

Yeah, I'm going to collect all the Platinum Titles even if I hate The Jungle Book. The ones I'm really looking forward are Bambi, Cinderella and Lady and the Tramp.

There is something in each of the features that I can watch and admire. I wouldn't say that I don't like any of them.
Black Cauldron would be my least favorite, but I can still watch it and find some parts of it interesting.

I also like the 'historical' aspect of the Treasures and the Vault Disney titles and will probably continue to pick up those series. (Even if it doesn't 'say' Vault Disney, you usually have a pretty good idea what was intended to be a Vault - even if it's a single disc release.)
I haven't been disappointed with ANY Treasures or Vault's at all and some of them were gambles for me!

The sequels I would get on an 'If I Like It Basis', and I DO like King Of Thieves.
The bulk of the live action on an 'If I Like It Basis'
I would buy a boxed set of all of the Sing-A-Long songs on DVD! Love, love, love! YEA!
I get all of the Pixar movies, but I have enjoyed all of the Pixar movies.
I plan to always send away for the Walt Disney World Travel Planning DVD's.
I'm really looking forward to Gargoyles and hope, hope, hope that they are released in a complete series boxed set. PLEEEEEEEEASE!
I will buy EVERY Hayley Mills DVD, and every Dexter Riley movie!

Chernabog_ca registered over two months ago. Let's cut him/her some slack. Welcome to the forum, well as a poster anyway.

I have to agree with in that it makes sense to buy what you like. There are a few of the Disney classics that I'm not crazy about and there's other stuff I'd rather buy on DVD first. One day maybe I'll have all the animated classics; of course, I still have to SEE two of them. I own more than I don't.

well I'm not old enough...or rich enought for that matter...to have had the chance to collect the disney classics...
so I said to myself after Snow White Platnium came out I would get all the platniums...(not too sure now though)...
and then I saw Sleeping Beauty...and although not a Platnium (why?!? they stuck the ugly collection banner on the R4 version) I just had to get it...so I decided to get all the 2-discers...lol...
well can't have everything...

I find this so funny. I really enjoy both Saludos Amigos and Three Caballeros. I watch them quite often. Actually much more often than BatB or other more modern classics.

BTW, Cinderella 2 beats out NOTHING! It is by far the worst thing disney has EVER produced. It was because of it I stopped buying sequels blind. It is so bad, it is even worse than the Return of Jafar.

I own Aristocats and Fox and the Hound but don't really like them that much.

Basically I buy what I think I or my family will like. I don't have any overwhelming desire to collect all of the Gold Collection (I haven't) or whatever. Occasionally having the majority of a set may convince me to buy the other (I would never have bought Pollyanna apart from the fact I had ordered the other three in the Vault Disney collection)

Sometimes I do just buy something for the cover (my international collections). Sometimes I buy something I regret. Sometimes I skip something.

I collect all Disney classic and some sequels

I collect all the Disney's classic animations because they teach everyone values and lessons in life.

Only collect good sequels like for example: Peter Pan 2, Jungle Book 2, Lady and the Tramp 2 and 101 Dalmations 2.

I dislike Little Mermaid 2 and Lion King 2( they just copy the first story all over again.)

I also collect Pixar films.

If it's made by Disney, I try to buy it. Cause I know sooner or later it will go out of print.

I only buy the ones that I really really like. If it's a sequal, I usually just rent it to see it, since most have the reputation of not being very good

In Norway, the 42 animated classics have numbers on the back of the cover, and then it's nearly impossible to collect them all. The instincts says that if you have number 23 and 25, you just got to have number 24 as well.

i only buy 2-disc special editions of Disney movies like Monster's Inc and Lion King. i will never buy any more Disney sequels since they are poisonous to my mind.

There were 3 threads that I could've asked this in, but why not in this one...I need advice!

So, a month or so ago, I went through my CDs and sold the ones that I just don't listen to enough. That got me thinking about my DVDs.

I went through my DVDs to participate in the "You can own only 17 DVDs" thread, or whatever it's called.

Not lately, but in the past few years (especially last year when I got some graduation money), I had been buying a lot of Disney DVDs, including a lot of live-action. I got all of them at a decent price. But, truth be told, I haven't watched many of them; some I've never seen, and some I haven't watched since I was a little girl and saw them on TV or on VHS.

So, that said, should I sell the movies I never watch? Or should I find time to sit down and watch them? I blind-bought Return to Oz, and now it's one of my favorite movies. I don't necessarily see any of these other movies as being as magical as that one, though (at least the live-action films, anyway).

The Absent-Minded Professor (It is a good movie, even though it never gets watched.)
Babes in Toyland (I didn't like it until they got into Toyland, but it is a musical with some fun special effects.)
Summer Magic (Since it's a musical, and I did like it.)
The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band (Since it's a musical.)
Rascal (Maybe...I did like it very much, but how often will I watch it? It's not as magical as other Disney films, but it's sweet.)
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (A childhood favorite.)
The Mighty Ducks, D2, & D3 (I do enjoy them, even if I don't watch them often.)
The Santa Clause (Since it's a Christmas film.)
Jungle 2 Jungle (Such a good movie.)
I'll Be Home for Christmas (Since it's a Christmas film, sort of, anyway.)
The Wild & Valiant (I like The Wild more than Valiant, but technically they're Disney animated theatrical films.)

As far as other animated films, I'm on the fence:

I do enjoy Lady and the Tramp II and The Little Mermaid II, so maybe I'd keep those. I haven't yet seen Ariel's Beginning, so maybe I should watch that before I decide; ditto with Tinker Bell. I only watched Cinderella III once, but it was quite good. Atlantis: Milo's Return I'm on the fence about because a) it's fun to watch after Atlantis, and b) it's from an unreleased series. I'm torn about The Jungle Book 2 because it was theatrically released; sort of ditto about Return to Never Land, but I'd be more likely to keep that one than TJB2, since I like it more. An Extremely Goofy Movie is a maybe...I only watched it once, on Disney Channel, and I think I liked it, but how often would I watch it? I can't say that it's really a favorite. I'm probably better off without Pocahontas II, since it taints my thoughts about John Smith. Maybe I'd keep Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas because a) it's a Christmas film, and b) I like some of the songs.

As you can obviously see, I'm torn. I would keep the animated classics and other theatrical animated films (The Tigger Movie, A Goofy Movie, Dinosaur, etc.). And I'll keep my favorite live-action films. And Muppet films. But I don't know about Muppets From Space, since I haven't watched it yet.

Money has been tight, due to my joblessness; if I sold some DVDs, the money would go into my spending fund, though; I mean, bills are getting paid.

So, wow, I bet this is a super-long post. I need advice. Should I keep movies that I either have never watched or that I have only watched once? I have an interest in some of the movies, sort of, in terms of them being Disney movies and all, but, like, I don't really care enough about Superdad to watch it, I guess. If I really wanted to watch these movies, I would have, right? Luckily, I got some for free or for about the price of a rental, so I wouldn't be losing much money by selling them. I also went through my non-Disney DVDs and picked out some to maybe sell.

What I've been doing is just trying to get rid of things that I just don't use, whether it's clothes or CDs or whatever. Get rid of some clutter. I had bought slim jewel cases because my DVDs and CDs were taking up so much space, so I'd have more space to use if I sold off DVDs I don't really care about.

I could just sell off the live-action titles that I don't care much about (but then there are iffy ones, that I'm on the fence about, such as Jungle 2 Jungle, or the Mighty Ducks films, for example), and some of the animated sequels that I just never watch.

Now, part of me is thinking, what kind of Disney fan am I if I won't even at least give these movies a try?!? But that's silly talk. Part of me also is thinking of my non-existant children. About if I have kids, they'll be without certain Disney movies. But that's silly talk, too. I'm just silly.

Thoughts, comments, advice, wish lists to trade...anything would be welcome!

Wow! What a post! Anyways, I recently did an overhaul on my DVD collection and got rid of any that I haven't watched within the past 2 years and that I don't think I'll watch within the next 2 years. My logic is that if I don't watch them more than once every 2 years, its not worth the shelf space as I could just rent it or catch it on TV later.

I hung on to any theatrically released Disney film, since I hope to own them all someday, but a lot of the TV/DTV films went to eBay and Amazon's trade in store.

Out of your list of films that you are contemplating getting rid of, I'm going to make some recommendations of the films I think are definitely worth owning (and in some cases, watching):
