Oh, I forgot about these. There's a DVD available of the former in France, though I believe some of the cartoons are edited.
EDIT: Oh, and more
French and Saunders and
Malcolm in the Middle, especially in Region 2.

Now that my long outstanding wish for Inspector Gadget the original series has been filled (as of tomorrow!)....now I'm wanting:
Judging Amy
Song of the South (of course)

I was talking with someone about this show and they said that it would never be released because of all the music guests.

Many usually call them "Dramedy", but I like the sound of Serio-Comedy...
creid wrote:4) Double Idemnity - Even if Universal craps this one out, it still worth owning as the single best example of classic film noir.
Universal's releasing it as a TWO-DISC set on
August 29, as part of their
Legacy Series. Here's hoping it gets the treatment like To Kill A Mockingbird or The Sting (two-disc set with commentary, making of-docs, related featurettes, trailers, etc.) as opposed to The Deer Hunter (two-disc set with just commentary, deleted scenes, and trailer)
Anyways, thought of a few movies that I have yet to see on DVD:
Rhapsody in Blue - a 1945 Gershwin biopic, they play it on TCM probably only once a year and I keep forgetting to tape it. I'm pretty sure WB has the release rights since it's an MGM title.
Sunday in New York - a Jane Fonda/Rod Taylor romcom, got a good copy from TCM, but I'd like it if MGM released it on DVD...
1492: Conquest of Paradise - have never seen it, but I heard it's an oft-requested title, directed by Ridley Scott. According to imdb, Paramount has the distribution rights...that explains a lot...

1. Max Headroom series with the original English pilot.
2. Night of the Creeps with both endings. (cool 80's horror movie)
3. Hardware unrated director cut. (depressing 90's sci fi)
4. ZPG (depressing 70's sci fi)
5. Dungeons & Dragons animated series. ( We need a Region 1 release!)
6. Song of the South. (Of course!)

I've got to agree with Maerj about Max Headroom. What would be cool is if a set could contain the UK and the US series.
I've thought of one more:
Spice Girls: A DVD of all the Spice Girls videos, plus a few live performances too. It really is money in the bank for them all, I can't think why one hasn't been released yet.

I just hope the rest of Disney's "classic theatrical animated shorts" will be covered in the Walt Disney Treasures.
There are other things I'd be happy to have, but I think this is the only thing I'm "anxious" about.

I only have two:
1. Song of the South - I have it on VHS but I would love to own an officially released North American version on DVD.
2. Talespin (The Series) - I know Season One has been announced, but until it's actually released I'm going to keep hoping for it.

All of you get a "virtual slap" from me for not even mentioning
The Timon and Pumbaa show. Shame!

Sunday in New York is very good. I hope it is released soon. I too have a vhs copy but would like the dvd. Have you ever seen Any Wednesday? It has Jason Robards Jr. and Jane Fonda. It is good too. It has yet to be released on dvd either, but hopefully it will soon.
There's alot of old movies on TCM that I'd like to see released, especially Red Skelton's movies!
What Movies or TV shows do you want to get a DVD release?

Sorry if this has been done before. I thought we could all post some movies and TV shows that we wish would finally come out on DVD. Maybe some of us could find out from others that some of this stuff is already out or coming out soon. Here are a few of mine (I'm going to avoid posting things that are just out of print but have been released before... for now):
Movies:
Song of the South (duh)
So Dear to My Heart
The Monster Squad
Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure
The Magic Christmas Tree (don't remember much about this, but I remember seeing it as a kid and am curious)
A corrected release of Love at First Bite
Uncut releases of Melody Time, Make Mine Music, and Saludos Amigos
Captain Eo
TV Shows:
Mama's Family
The Charmings
The multi-named Disney anthology series from the beginning till now, not including episodes that just showed feature films in parts
All versions of the Mickey Mouse Club in sets
The Love Bug TV show
The ABC Weekend Specials
Monster Squad
Drac Pack (animated series)
Teen Wolf (animated series)
Big Wolf on Campus
Wuzzles
The other Disney Afternoon Shows
Sabrina the animated series (all of it) and Sabrina's Secret Life
Sabrina the Teenage Witch (corny show, but I dig Melissa Joan Hart)
The rest of Lizzie and Gargoyles (though I still need part 2 of Gargoyles)
The final season of Sailor Moon
Real Ghostbusters (all of it)
Kim Possible and most other Disney animated shows, really, especially the ones based on feature films
Muppets Tonight
TV Holiday Specials or Other:
The Halloween that Almost Wasn't (AKA The Night Dracula Saved the World)
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (because I've never seen it. Was that the title even?)
The Disney Candlelight Ceremony (Christmas program)
The Chuck Jones Raggedy Ann and Andy Christmas and Halloween Specials

TV
Tremors: The Series
If it's good enough for them to keep making DTV movies, it's good enough for them to release the series. I really can't understand why it's not out already. Still, who can fathom the thinking of Universal Home Video?
House Of Mouse
'Nuff Said.
Those 60's Marvel Animated Series in a Boxset
Which I still have on pre-order at Amazon, about 2 years after I placed the order.
Laff-A-Lympics
I think (!) this should be next on the chronological Scooby releases from Warners
Captain Caveman
Wasn't this originally paired with the above mentioned Laff-A-Lympics? I wouldn't know, because the UK only got the Hanna-Barbera shows individually. Anyhow, Cavey rocks (and a bonus, I would like one of two of the Flintstone cartoons where Cavey works at a newspaper office, with Wilma and Betty as female reporters)
A Very Peculiar Practice S2
This is perhaps the ulimate holy grail of TV on DVD for me. Its a BBC show written by Andrew Davies (best known for his BBC adaptations of works, such as Pride and Prejudice and Bleak House - but this is original). Its a wonderful black-comedy-drama. S1 was released about a year or so ago, and the same company keeps promising S2 (it was licenced out by the BBC). I would love to have S2, because it's twice as good as S1! (and S1 is close to perfection!)

Ooo, I don't know about that last one, but I want all the other stuff you mentioned! The Flintstones show you mentioned was also one I used to love when I was VERY little. It was shown SUPER EARLY on Saturday mornings when I was a kid. I think it's the one called "The Flintstones Comedy Show." It also had teen Pebbles and Bamm Bamm solving crimes with Shmoo, a la Scooby and the gang, if memory serves me. Plus, I think that might also be when Dino had his own short cartoons chasing the cave-mouse, but that may have been on a different Flintstones Spin-off, not sure.

Lady in the Water - Like I said before this movie is one of the best horror films I've seen in a long time. It doesn't have any gore it's just flat out suspenseful and that's why I like it.
Thank You For Smoking - This has been out for a long time yet I still haven't heard a DVD release of it yet. So hopefully it'll come soon cuz this movie really rocked.

I loved Lady in the Water.
I should also mention Freakazoid, the WB animated superhero comedy. Tiny Toons as well.

Here's the IMDB listing for A Very Peculiar Practice. And look at that user rating!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090541/
As the comment on the front page says:
Update: the first series is now available on DVD, which is great news. It's truly a programme to treasure. How many others do we buy that we never return to? This is such a literate and witty show that it's worth keeping. The only thing is, Series 2 was probably the best and it's not yet available.
I so want S2!

I thought there was a thread for this, well here's my list:
Movies
- The Phantom Tollbooth (Its been out on VHS for a long time, but it hasn't been released on DVD yet. My mother's friend taped it on HBO Family and give it to me about 5 years ago. That film is the best thing Chuck Jones ever did in a long time.)
- Hey There, Its Yogi Bear (I remember watching it on Cartoon Network about three years ago and recorded it. Unfortunately, I over-recorded it while sleeping. Damn you, foot! Its one of my favorite animated films!)
- Song of the South (Duh!

)
TV movies
- Hanna/Barbera's Jack in the Beanstalk
- Hanna/Barbera's Heidi's Song (I haven't watched this one for a long time. I remember renting it at a local video store but it doesn't play on my VCR.

)
slave2moonlight wrote:The Chuck Jones Raggedy Ann and Andy Christmas and Halloween Specials
OMG! I love both Raggedy Ann and Andy specials. I wish they released it on DVD soon.... Too be honest,
I haven't seen both of them in a LONG TIME! Same thing for
Raggedy Ann and Andy: The Musical Adventure.

Man, I definitely want Heidi's Song!
And I don't think I mentioned it when I talked about the Flintstones Comedy Show, but that's one I've wanted for a LOOONG time!
Let me see...
TV Shows:
60's Batman
Filmation Batman animated series
Richie Rich
A line of DVDs containing odd TV pilots that didn't become shows... Maybe ones with folks that later became successful or something.
The (original) Addams Family
Ewoks
Droids
Cartoons based on old video games, like Pac Man, Frogger, etc... used to love those
The Care Bears TV series in complete sets
Movies:
Phantom of the Open Hearth, The Star-Crossed Romance of Josephine Cosnovsky, and The Great American 4th of July and Other Disasters - television movies (for PBS, American Playhouse I think) about Ralphie from A Chrsitmas Story, but made before A Christmas Story (these used to run on the Disney Channel!!!!)
Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss - another Ralphie sequel (either made for PBS or Disney), but this one got a VHS release AND I think it was made AFTER A Christmas Story. Hopefully, this one will come to DVD since "My Summer Story" recently did. As for me, all I have right now is the first release of A Christmas Story (BAD release) and the others on VHS. The PBS stuff is on home recordings I bought online. They say it will never be released because of issues over the music rights...
Holiday Specials:
The Santa Bear Specials
The Ziggy Christmas Special
I think there was a Cabbage Patch one
Clarence (I don't recall if this was any good, but it was an 80s TV movie starring Robert Carrodine as the angel from It's A Wonderful Life. I'm just curious to see that again)
Muppet Family Christmas (uncut!)
Mr. Willowby's(sp?) Christmas Tree

Movies:
Re-release of Ever After
Lilo & Stitch 2-Disc Edition
Re-release of The Black Cauldron
TV Shows:
Aladdin
Little Mermaid
Jungle Cubs
8 Simple Rules
Peter Pan and the Pirates!!!!
Box Sets of Seasons 1 and 2 of X-Men Evolution

Most of the DVDs that I want to see released are all TV shows. The only movie that I can think of that I want that hasn't been released is SubUrbia from 1996.
The TV shows that I want to see released:
Dexter
the rest of Boy Meets World
Smurfs
Tiny Toons
the rest of Malcolm in the Middle
the rest of Party of Five
Beetlejuice
Breaker High
Pinky, Elmyra, and the Brain
The Wild Thornberrys
and, of course, as my signature states:
Aladdin
The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
