I was wondering that myself. I feel the Special Edition is good enough, and pretty equal to the Platinums in everything but name. I would prefer getting a Platinum of Dumbo or something else. The only thing I would want more of would be more Eyvind Earle, for some reason I just love that little old man.

I was going to reply to this here, but I think I'll start another thread so as not to veer off the topic of Fantasia.

Dumbo would be an excellent choice for a Platinum disc, I do agree...poor Dumbo is the only one of the first 5 features NOT getting the platinum treatment, which is sad, because it was the only Disney feature after Snow White... and before Cinderella to make a profit.

Well, they just discontinued the Dumbo 60th anniversary edition so you can probably guess that the platinum (or other 2 discer) is coming within the next few years.
I'm going to keep looking around for the Fantasia Anthology as I doubt that a new release of Fantasia could do better (as I've heard). I'm sure another version is coming, but there already seems to be a big list for re-releases.
Also, Pinocchio is one of the first five animated features and has not gotten the platinum treatment yet either. That one is supposedly on the way as well.
