You're right! :) there is hope...looking at this screencap for the lady and the tramp PE, the logo is taken from the masterpiece/classic artwork, but the actual cover art has a slightly different title...below

I'm jumping for you! :) I'm really glad I didn't get the Limited Issue title and I am extremely happy that I will finally own the first film I ever watched in theaters on DVD! On the contrary, I think the logo is new and fresh and works well with the theme of "under the sea."

I was so excited when I saw those screencaps! It made my entire day. The Logo is nice, but there is something about it that bothers me, however it will probally change. The logo also gives me an idea of what the cover will look like. The cover probally will not have dark colors, or be an evil, action scene. It will probally be the scene with Ariel popping out the ocean on the rock singing, with Ursula at the bottom (Ursula will be no where near the logo, due to color issues. She may not be on the cover at all).

you can say that again...

I must say that knowing the latley vicious of Disney for leeching the money of the consumers I really feel surprised for not having a Bambi tv series as they will do with TENG

I don't like that title either. I hope they charge that logo to the original one OR do brand new logo. This one is just lame.
I already have my own copy of The Little Mermaid -DVD, but can't wait to get this new restored version of it. My all time favourite movie!!!!! 8)

Wasn't there something mentioned where the illustrator that did the art for the storybooks, posters, and other TLM merchandise would do the cover for the Platinum Edition DVD? Or was that just a rumor?

I wonder what would be the extras on the DVD...
New and deleted scenes maybe
Songs that never made it too
early concepts(I wonder how they first thought on Ursula, as we have seen some were quite different on the early concept)

Disney is going to do so much promotion for this release. It's clear they're building their hopes on this as their next big DVD release (as much as I love Cinderella, I don't see it selling a gazillion copies on DVD as its contemporary counterparts). And I think Disney learnt their lesson with the disappointment that was the DVD release of Aladdin. I think they're really gonna push Mermaid and especially into the holiday season. With all the anticipation regarding this release, I can easily see it selling the 6-7 million copies Snow White & Beauty did. It's just an incredibly popular film that remains a favorite of many.

They showed some early design of Ursula on one of the other platinum editions during a featurette. I forgot which one though. Think it's Aladdin. It was pretty freaky.

They actually have a few in the animation tour (that's actually a very loose term ) in the Walt Disney Studios park of Disneyland Paris and they look pretty awesome. There's one where she looks like a Malifecant of the sea which was pretty awesome.

Nope. It was Beauty and the Beast in the featurette with the Even Stevens kids

Yup, artist Phil Barnhart posted on his website (link is on the forums here somewhere on a TLM:PE topic) that Disney is getting him to do the platinum edition cover art!

The song "Silence is Golden" was not used in the movie but the demo tape was on teh Music Behind the Magic set (picture in my avatar). I doubt that they ould re-animate it and put it in as a special edition on the dvd like they did for human again (BATB) and the song they put back into the lion king. They probably would have, but it's from the scene where Ariel visits Ursula and its almsot the same as "poor Unfortunate Souls" so two songs of the same idea just wouldnt work...
well there's my attempt at killing 3 birds with one stone. :)

aaaarrrgghh!! that gift set will be so mine!!

now Flounder and Sebastian deserve to have their interactive games, and a virtual party "under the sea", and speaking of that song, the new version of circle of stars is a must!!

I am beeing sarcastic allright?

I actually like the new interactive games because they usually give new animation(CGI backgrounds with new 2D animation of the characters). After all, Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride Adventure was nice on the Aladdin DVD. Wouldn't you love to see Disney do a little more 2D animation even for a silly game? And seing the undersea world of Ariel in CGI should look nice! Although I'm sure(or I hope) that we'll have CGI version's of the movie's backgrounds in the menus!

I also like the new title logo shown in the screen captures. The only thing I might change is the coloring of it, since it's a very pale white.

I have a feeling that since the Aladdin Platinum Edition had a booklet with some preliminary artwork for Bambi and Cinderella, the Cinderella Platinum Edition will have a booklet showing us the preliminary artwork for Lady and the Tramp and The Little Mermaid! After all, the trailer is on the Cinderella DVD.
