HA! These blu-rays are being printed as we speak. A few ridiculously anal hardcore fans is hardly enough for Disney to take notice.

^ While I do agree with you that nothing is going to change THIS release of The Fox and Hound, calling and complaining about unsatisfactory products might help in some of their decisions with future film releases.
OAR aside, I know I'm calling and writing an actual letter to say that I am not buying the film because I don't want the 2 movie collection. Hopefully if enough of us "ridiculously anal hardcore fans" do the same in addition to our complaining on a message board, future titles they are considering to do the same with can be avoided or get them to do what they should be doing in the first place...offer the customer a freaking choice. I'll be bitchin' to them till the cows come home, if it even possibly means saving myself the only shot at getting movies like Hunchback in HD, being stuck with their stupid DTV tie ins as equal films on the same disc.

No offense, but wanting the original aspect ratio is considered "being anal" now? Since when did that happen?

Since 99.X% of the population could absolutely care less about the miniscule difference between 1:66 and 1:75.
When you're in that big of a minority, you're anal. I'm not necessarily calling anal a bad thing, but it IS anal.

What, there was a study about that? Hyperbolic much? I can't believe after so many years of DVD and even Laserdisc we're still having the discussion about the original aspect ratio. OAR is OAR. It's nothing to do with opinion. The film was made to be released in one aspect ratio, and that's the one I would like to see the movie in on Blu-ray. Is that considered anal these days? I absolutely cannot comprehend that.
Oh yeah, and since the majority "could care less" about it, that would mean they're as invested in it as me. I think you mean the opposite, just saying.

You pointing out that I meant the opposite is the exact kind of anal we're talking about here. Yes, everyone knows the correct term is "couldn't care less", but do most people actually speak that way? No. Don't be a grammar cop.
It's not quite the same with OAR, because the majority of people don't even have any idea what "OAR" is. And if you were to try and explain it to them, they would get confused. It has EVERYTHING to do with opinion. Yes, the Original Aspect Ratio is a
fact. But whether or not you care if it is presented in that exact ratio is an
opinion.
Most people won't know the minute difference in the OAR of Fox and the Hound and what is being presented on the new release, let alone care enough to not buy the release. Only the most hardcore fans will do that. And that is where the term anal comes from. You seem to be taking a huge amount of offense to this for some reason, but none was ever meant - I'm anal about a number of things. Slipcovers, for instance. Like I said, anal does not equal bad. But is IS anal. I don't know why you're upset.
And sarcastically pointing out that "oh my gosh there was a study about that?" is fairly childish, as there was obviously no study, nor did I ever claim that there was. I said 99.X% of people, which clearly shows that I simply mean a
vast majority of people.
Don't get your panties in a bunch because you're anal and you won't get to see those two blades of grass on the side of the The Fox and the Hound.

It's not a pre-order. DMC members have the option to get it earlier, much like they did with The Black Cauldron's 25th Anniversary DVD.

The only way I would have ever considered this title would be if it contained the vintage making of special "Disney Animation: The Illusion of Life" (from "Wonderful World of Disney") as an extra -- and NO creepy TV sequel two-fer.

Looks fantastic. Too bad their skimping on the supplemental material in favor of including the sequel most would rather forget happened.

I highly doubt they would have included more special features even if they didn't include the sequel.
