well, i like sleeping beauty and i needed to find one small (i hate small it's not as clear) and i went to this icon page and it caught my eye so i took it. it's quite good and this post makes 50! jk wanted to say this

My avatar is a scene from the movie "This is Cinerama" along with the Cinerama logo.
I'm a huge fan of Cinerama - the king of all the widescreen systems!
When I was a kid, the first film I ever saw was "101 Dalmatians" in 1961. But after that, my second film was "Seven Wonders of the World" in Cinerama. Unfortunately, shortly after, the Cinerama system was scrapped, and I had no more chances to see Cinerama films until four years ago (on the day, today October 7), when I went to the museum

Here's another scene from "This is Cinerama", not exactly the same as my avatar, but from the same part of the film:
Cinerama was shot with a special camera that was basically three cameras in one, and it was projected with three projectors side by side (plus the soundtrack on a separate machine). You can see two vertical lines going down the picture, where the three film strips align side by side.
To get the full effect of Cinerama, it must be projected on a deeply curved screen. You can try to print the picture above on a paper as large as possible, cut it out and curve the paper so that it forms a 146 degree curve. Position yourself close to the picture and observe the effect.

CINERAMA was truly the king of formats. And sadly, I don't remember ever seeing one!
(There was a CINERAMA theater (long since demolished) with a totally round curved screen where i got to see several movies but none was true CINERAMA. (The most efective one was Rollerball cus the surround sound mix made the ball go round the circular theater walls and you felt you were in the arena and you knew when the ball was gonna be picked up cus it was nearing the other side of the screen again!)
I think it would be easy to take the 3 CINERAMA negatives and print them on the center of an IMAX frame and have a more "general" re-release venue for those featurettes and the 2 Hollywood movies done in the format (of course not all IMAX theaters have a curved screen but at least the size and resolution (now more than a 100 times the one in that jpeg!) would be preserved on the "straight" screen ones too)
Those in LA are lucky they show stuff in the CINERAMA Dome from time to time, like in the end of this month..
btw i took your scene and spruced it up back to it's non-faded look . And sometimes i crank the color a little bit more and make it Technicolor yellow/blue surreal
Now I want a 2048 x 5370 jpeg of THAT!

@ 15 feet viewing distance, normal film format screens should be 10 feet tall (deathie rule #4)
@ 15 feet distance, a 360 degree circle is 94.25 feet long.
CINERAMA angle desired 146 degrees
So a 146 degree slice of a that circle is: 146/360 x 94.25 = 38.22 feet long
at a 2.59 aspect ratio the CINERAMA screen should therefore be much taller than a normal screen: 14.76 feet high.
So actually the jpeg should be 3072 x 8000!!!

My new avatar is from Teacher's Pet the movie, which is now my favourite movie of the moment. The films pays homage to many disney films which is why i love it so. the scene as if it's not obvious is obviously a recreation of the famous scene from Pinocchio.

This is 1997's Behind The Eyes. Amy had released well over a dozen albums and this was the first not to specifically mention God or Jesus. In fact, it had only one song to be considered spiritual. It received mixed reviews and was quickly labeled her "dark album." The lyrics reflected heartbreak, loss, and sorrow, capped off with hope. It also featured a very acoustic sound, which was somewhat new for her. Its initial success was rocky, but it has gone on to receive critical acclaim.

Anyways, time for the next one. 5 years after her last studio album, Amy put out Legacy... Hymns & Faith in 2002. It was her first hymns record and her first entirely Christian music album in about fifty or twenty years. Produced by Vince Gill (who provides back-up vocals and instrumentation on a few of the songs, too) it took on a country/bluegrass style. It was a pretty big hit in Christian music, especially considering that it wasn't contemporary Christian music, and it wasn't released under a mainstream record company's promotional department (her first to not get that treatment). It also helped smoothe over things in the parts of the Christian community that remained scorned over her divorce.
Singles released:

It Is Well With My Soul/The River's Gonna Keep On Rollin'
(both of which got country music airplay, too)
Also, Imagine, the song that made MercyMe famous, was originally written by Bart Miller for Amy to sing before their group had a record deal. She was going to release it as a single, but decided to help them with a record deal and let them release it themselves. This album lets us hear her version (with some differing lyrics). It has since been picked up by radio stations and become a top 10 (I think) Christian hit.

I changed my avatar from Pumbaa to Dory recently. I still love Pumbaa, but Dory is also a lot of fun. She also has the added benefit of being easier to spot as I scroll down a thread. I can now easily start up reading again after my last posting.

That last one was a little too girly for me, so I've moved on to Amy's most recent studio album, 2003's Simple Things. I know new albums aren't supposed to be your favorites, but this is one is definitely among mine! The title track was Amy's first pop single in 6 years. After her divorce and many songs expressing desperation, this album celebrates redemption, reconciliation, healing, forgiveness, and love. The lyrics are beautiful, as is the trendy music.
This was also my very first avatar here at UD.
