Wow... One should really think: too little, too late. What, with that Big Top Edition coming out less than 2 years ago...

But, it's nice to hear that this movie is finally be placed in the Platinum line. Though I really have to say - why didn't they think ahead? Had they done that, they would know that it's best to put all the major movies in the line and then just drop them later if it conflicts with some schedule or something.

What I don't want to hear is that they're going to add Fox & the Hound or The Aristocats next year or the year after.

I completely agree. Dump Dumbo and make Fantasia/2000 the best they can be. We've already seen Dumbo multiple times and Disney just doesn't get it (which is fine with me, I'm not too fond of the movie to begin with; especially since there is no comparison between it and Fantasia/2000). There hasn't been a Fantasia/2000 release for almost ten years now. I don't understand why Disney sets it's priorities and then goes back and changes them. Why make a schedule and then change it? Oh wait, they're only doing it for money. It's always about money. Stupid, stupid Disney.

I agree. It would be nice if WDSHE had a long term plan for releasing these films, but they don't stick to the rules they set, such as the 7-year rotation schedule. Some films, like Peter Pan and Dumbo, are given the Platinum/Diamond treatment 2-4 years after being rereleased on DVD, while others, like Pinocchio and Fantasia, have been held past the 7-year limit.

I agree! I think Disney should stick to the schedule! It really annoys me when they start changing things about! It seems really unfair to films that have past the 7 year limit. Dumbo hasn't long been released and now they're simply re-releasing it! Fantasia hasn't been released in almost a decade!

If they are releasing it in blu-ray, then they are most definitely giving it a restoration that could even make sleeping beauty proud.

blu-ray + new bonus features? definitely welcome to my shelf.

I'm actually happy about this, I somehow lost *both* my editions of Dumbo when I moved and haven't felt like replacing them unless there was an upgrade of some kind.

The Three Calleberos is pretty much the ultimate stoner film. Def want in high def.

If that ad is real and not a photoshop job, it's certainly classy, and more Disney ads should look like that.

If this Blu-ray is the ultimate edition for Dumbo [lots of bonus features] (ha, when has there ever been an ultimate anything with Disney?), than I may consider a purchase.

Or the Fantasia they had wasn't good enough, and it needed more time to get it up to spec? And yes, I am thinking of the Blu-ray transfer. If in the end we get a better product, its hard to complain. But we'll no doubt never know.

Because by definition, Ultimate means last. How on earth could Disney get out of that when they wanted to do their 7-yearly re-issue?

I know you were being facetious but most people use 'ultimate' to mean 'all-inclusive' or 'packed with features'.

According to the Spanish Blu-Ray news site, planetahd.com, Beauty and the Beast has been confirmed as the Fall 2010 Diamond Edition. Here is an English translation I did. Note that the article only refers to Blu-Ray releases and not DVDs.

According to a press release from Disney, the fourth Diamond Edition to be released on Blu-ray will be Dumbo. This news surprised friends and foes alike, because it was announced that in March 2010, Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 would be launched in a combo package, as Diamond Editions (formerly known as Platinum).

To date, the titles released have been Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio, with Snow White being released in October. After Dumbo, we get Beauty and the Beast, in a magnificent 20th Anniversary Edition, after the re-release in theaters this February.

So you can pretty much put the assumptions that Alice in Wonderland would be added to the line as the Fall 2010 release to rest.

I'm also starting to think that Disney might not be planning Fantasia for Spring 2011 release either. My theory is that since Disney now has an official cannon Winnie the Pooh sequel set for release in 2011, they might want to give the original Many Adventures the Diamond treatment that Spring in anticipation of the new film. Just a thought though. I don't want to see any outcries against Disney just because I think it's a possibility.

We may still get some sort of "Alice" re-release to coincide with Tim Burton's new movie, though.

I always thought Alice would get a 60th Anniversary Edition in 2011.

Also BatB's 20th in 2010? Please Disney, at least try to get the year right.

Disney's broken tradition of being a year late or a year early on their anniversary editions of releases....why break tradition now ?

Or just do what I suggested and release Fantasia as a Disney Treasure

At least then the appreciative half of the public would buy it

More like infamous. Most of the members at Blu-Ray.com don't like UltimateDisney.com because of Luke's preference for DVD.
