A voice says "sound the alarms" the camera then zooms in on the horses rear end and it farts making the camera shake. It was not only false advertising, because it doesnt happen in the film but what would Disney think of them using his film to a level of Shrek. I tried to find it on youtube but couldnt, look out for it.
OMG I saw it, too! They actually altered the animation to make it look like the horse farted. Can you believe it? So since they obviously did it so kids would want to see the movie...won't kids be dissapointed when it doesn't happen? Is Disney hoping kids will want to see the gross humour but be so taken by the magic of the film they will forget about it or not mind?!

A month or two ago, Luke posted that people could apply to be DVD reviewers, interviewers, and/or special event reporters (in California).

Ugh. That makes me mad! I haven't seen that commercial, but how dare Disney stoop to DreamWorks'-like marketing strategies. Especially since no horse farts in the film (I mean, hey, a horse could've, but it just didn't make it into the film...). Disney should not have problems marketing the film to children!!! The parents will be the ones buying it for small children...I guess what I'm meaning to say is that everyone knows about Disney Animated Classics, so they shouldn't have to have gimmicks, besides persuading people to double dip!

Is it me or does Pongo look way off? A Dalmatian should be white, not gray.

I haven't seen that, but it doesn't surprise me. Its amazing that most kids will only watch a show now if it has fart jokes, etc... in it. They are mainly used to get "cheap laughs". You mentioned Shrek... I like Shrek, but what that commercial did has no place in advertising for 101 Dalmations. They are two different types of films.

Yeah I couldn't believe seeing it either. Growing up all of the disney video ads just showed the characters, clips of the songs, and a few of the funny parts of the film, never changing them or adding bathroom humor. I wonder if its more a commentary on todays society where the kids only understand bathroom humor, or Disney bringing the public down to that level? For those who have the new dvd, how would you rate the picture quality from 1-10.

My CVS drugstore does not get new movies, as far as I know (if they do they're budget/DTV movies that aren't even Disney), but I work next to Wal-Mart. I dunno if I wanna get it then (I'll look at prices there), or when I go to get Enchanted at FYE on the 18th. FYE matches prices, so...

I can confirm that despite the Press Release to the contrary and the fact the BBFC apparently passed the film in matted widescreen, the UK 101 Dalmations is full frame.
