There's that white streak again. And this is when she's with Hans, presumably before the coronation. :eyebrow: :?:

Goodness, I know we have mentioned this before, but the two leads look so ... well, dull. There is nothing new or different about them; all the previous Princesses and some sort of trait to set them apart, but so far these two ladies just don't. They do look like they belong in the Tinkerbell world; and that is no disrespect to Tink and her friends. I think it was just by change Tink had a frost/winter theme as her last film, so Periwinkle is bound to be fresh in peoples minds.

We can only hope the vocal performances truly set these ladies apart from being repeats of the past.

Plus, Hey People? That IMMEDIATELY makes me think of: :P :P :P :P :P

The site is up:

http://movies.disney.com/frozen/

BTW: Why are they putting Olaf and Sven EVERYONE on the website? :headshake: This is starting to get worse than Tangled. At least Tangled had the leads. This has the goofy sidekicks. Does Disney want this to tank?

Why do I get the feeling that Olaf will end up being the most lovable character in the film, only to end up being killed off for real?

Remember Ray from The Princess and the Frog? When the first teaser for that movie came online, everyone thought he was going to suck. But when the movie came out, he became the most lovable character in the film and he got killed off.

The movie is not going to tank. It's a generic 3D film with stupid sidekicks, which is basically ticket bait these days for families who could care less whether animated films are good as long as they entertain their 3 year-old's. Combine that with the fact that they've strategically stolen everything possible from Tangled (and its own stolen ideas/designs from B&tB/TLM/Aladdin), it's clear that any idea that it might tank is just hopeful wishing.

Unless possibly audiences respond to the snow man, reindeer, and setting in this film's trailers the same way they responded to Santa Claus, Jack Frost, and the snowy background in Rise of the Guardians, if audiences dislike films that come across too seasonal--but I doubt it.

You mean " melted off "
But remember, Ray wished for Evangeline, and in the end he's with her.
In Frozen, Olaf wish to be able to live into the sun; So...

It seems as though a lot of people are developing low expectations for this movie...

Even though I still absolutely detest the title, I will still give it a chance. I remember people having similar feelings of apprehension shortly before Tangled's release.

Since they were so heavily inspired by Norway, why didn't they set the film there? You can still have a fictional kingdom in a real country.

Why didn't they make Kristoff a Sami outright since they were influenced by them?

Why does everything need to be so vague and generic whether it's a location, a culture or a race?

And that’s how our film actually opens—we see the ice harvesters at work and we meet, at that time, a very young Kristoff and Sven. He’s about six years old and he’s learning the trade from the adult ice harvesters. We see a baby Sven with him, too, who’s trying to tow his own block of ice with the big guys”
Really, seeing little Kristoff, Elsa and Anna, I can’t wait to see how this opens! Hopefully with a song too?

Is this really that much different from what they've been doing in the past. Films like Snow White and Cinderella also take place in fictional kingdoms in unspecified locations, it isn't mentioned that they were set in Germany/France etc nor were they realistic representations of those nations in either case.

It's not, I know. It's a Disney practice I never liked.

I know, right? I've would be honored, considering that I'm Norwegian. However, I think I would have felt a little offended as well, haha.

I've always wondered why "The Little Mermaid" wasn't set in Denmark, considering that it's a Danish story.

I think it was set somewhere hot to simply show how Ariel was so seduced by the warm, bright land above, compared to the comparatively cold and dark world she lives in. I'm not quite sure where they mentioned, but I know a specific location was mentioned by the creators. Greece rings a bell ?

I think more like Mediterranean in general. I'd think it's southern Portugal/Spain judging by Eric's castle.

As for Sotris whining about location, personally I don't see the big deal. Because we have direct influence of Norway, I'm pretty sure it is in Norway or such but in a fictional kingdom. Just like in Agrabah. You know it's set in middle east/Islamist country somewhere and the stuff in the city has middle eastern/Islamist influence in culture, but the city itself is it own thing. Arendelle seem to be same way. We will get all Norwegian culture and such implicated in the movie and the city for us to be more than aware that this kingdom is in Norway. I bet you, that we will be seeing Frozen/Snow Queen Characters in Epcot's Noway section, just like Snow White is in Germany, Aurora and Cinderella in France, Aladdin in Morocco, Pinocchio in Italy etc. It never said what country they were in or located but the visuals in the movie were more than enough for us to tell the ethnic origin of that particular movie.

I think the reason to doing this is because the stories are fairytales and usually the indication of fairytales is in a fantasy/fictional land. However they want to also bring in cultural creation behind that fairytale too, and so they give in the ethnic background behind the particular fairytale.

I think this is why the non fairytale Disney movies have a more specific country setting like Hunchback of Notre Dame etc.

I think Beauty and the Beast is the only exception to that.

I agree with Super Aurora. Past Disney fairy tales had imaginary kingdoms but with realistic cultural influence from their author's origins. The only thing I disagree with is I think you could say Beauty and the Beast had a fictional land (or lands?) located in France.

Yeah. I said it was an exception because the movie specifically said it was in France and If I remember correctly, it also has a specific time period too, (1700's) which France is a country by that point as oppose to just a land mass that held several separate kingdoms (like it would in Sleeping Beauty).
