It looks so much like Jessie's hair from Pokemon.
Huh. Maybe
that's the real plot twist ...

My expectation was with Toy Story 5, which is just around the corner.
EDIT: I came across this today, but no way of verifying how legit it is

Thank you for the update, PoB.

Hopefully, that info is legit. I'm also intrigued to see what the supposedly "hand-painted" Gatto will look like. (I am guessing it is CG animation with painted textures, but we'll see.)
On the Hexed front, they'd better have an impressive trailer at hand. I feel WDAS is way overdue for a new Renaissance, and I don't think I can stomach another original film that's a dud from the studio. The fact that it will not feature anything new or exciting on the visual front, and apparently defaults to standard CG is already a blow - so I hope the script is strong. I'll hold out hope until the film is out.

I was wondering if the movie was now going to be canceled or delayed.

Her character design looks better than in that first look pic from a few months ago. But all the others Especially the mothers design gives me an ick, its too clichee atp. Story seems predictable but i shouldnt be too harsh since its just a vague teaser.
Maybe im reaching too much but they might have purposefully named their protagonist Billie so everytime someone looks after Billie Eilish this thing will pop up

i mean they literally dropped a poster with the caption "something is happening to Billie"
Also the Shrek5 trailer dropped around the same time and it still looks a mess. I
Same Problem like Hexed, the animation looks too "disney" and the story and animation lost its realism and satire aspect which made Shrek so beloved in the first place. Its gonna be a mess... so far im only hooked for Toy Story 5 and Frozen 3

The main character design looks really weird. These bangs looks awful and honestly she doesn't have anything that makes her special. I think that this movie is going to have the same destiny as Wish.

This looks generic and unappealing like it was made by a second-rate, overseas studio.

Yes, the lead looks ugly and off-putting. The actress voicing her is very beautiful. The character looks nothing like her. She has an unusually round face and the body proportions of a stick figure. Her ridiculous bangs make her forehead look huge.

Exactly. This could have easily been made by Sony or Dreamworks.
Disney slapping the word "magic" to every generic movie they make hoping it sticks to the wall.

Frankly, despite how it wasn`t a bad teaser, it wasn`t a great one either. I was really disappointed by Billie`s design, as she looked more appealing in the first leak. But looked lackluster and underwhelming in the actual teaser. The premise of the movie feels hackneyed, clichΓ©d and done to death. The opening part with the school looks like your typical, average high school movie. The part where the magic glows out of Billie`s hands was inspired (and felt like it was from Wish). The rat/mouse looked disappointingly generic.
The parts where Billie tries out her magic in her room was funny. The way the letter o`s shaped into a half moon for Frozen, Zootopia (and the title for Hexed) was clever. The parts in the magic World were superior to the high school scenes, as they looked more genuinely inspired. Despite how the village looked claustrophobic, too angular and too willfully weird with it`s colors and designs. The talking book was appealing (and was reminiscent of the one from Disenchanted) and so was the castle. But the huge, green eyes who stacks to each other were grating. Overall, a bland and generic teaser. Let`s hope that the movie is going to be better.
As for the poster, it looked appealing enough. Despite how it wasn`t outstanding.

I for one was actually really taken by the trailer.
I think that Billie's design is just off-center from the Disney princess template, like I'm watching an AU where Rapunzel went through a teenage rebellion phase.
Really, the fact that it's like recognizably Disney with some deliberate variations is kind of what sells this for me. It's Disney fantasy without the princesses, and I think that's absolutely something Disney should try. I feel like this may have been partially motivated to capitalize on the craze surrounding WICKED and the upcoming Hary Potter reboot.
The plot details, the thing that give a film its personality and prove that it's not just running the formula, those don't tend to emerge until late into promotion, and not really until the film itself is out. I think those will take care of themselves.
Anyways, open question for people who are saying it looks "off-the-shelf" or "cliche," what kinds of things would you rather be seeing from Disney? I swear I'm not trying to bait anyone or start a squabble, I'm just genuinely curious.

I'd rather see the cancelled untitled Persian / Iranian princess animated film
Or a grand mythical animated epic set in Japan, etc.
The themes of wizardry and magic have been oversaturated in popular culture since the release of Harry Potter in 1997.
Hexed looks uninspired, recycled, generic and boring, and will likely flop just like Wish did.

Yeah, for some reason I think it will flop just like Wish. After all, Hexed is the first original property since Wish.

In my opinion she doesn't look like Disney. They have made incredible designs like Kida's, Pocahonta's or even Esmeralda. All of them felt like Disney but with a different style and with personality. This new character looks like an illumination or Dreamworks character. She even looks like Miguel from Coco!
Nothing in the trailer gives me a Disney feeling, it gives me the feeling of seeing a generic movie that I'm going to forget 5 minutes after the end of the movie. Honestly they need to find their identity as soon as possible.
However I have to admit that the Twilight easter egg was funny.

So would you say it's the locale and genre that's turning you off?

what i meant with clichee is that the round big eyed artstyle is soo overdone that literally AI can perfectly replicate that artstyle atp. Disney always tweaked their artstyle throughout the decades and now theyre stuck with this one for 18 years. Even when Mermaid became their first big success in decades they didnt copy and paste the artstyle, they literally experimented a bit with Aladdin (the more fluid rounder shapes), Lilo and Stitchs really striking artstyle and Pocahontas' realism etc. Imagine Pocahontas with Ariels big eyes

Personally what i would love to see are character designs in the form of Sleeping Beauty and Pocahontas, they looked so much more realistic and it would be refreshing after all the big eyed Rapunzel clones. I know im repeating myself but the hybrid handpainted gc look like Rapunzel Unbraided would be a dream. Overall i would be obsessed with a wdas movie in the style of Arcane (but the artstyle should be more oil painty and not too graphic). And they should explore different styles of genre tones (like Wes Anderson or smth) I dont think im asking too much from that billion dollar company sis
