The Top Five put on a spectacular show tonight with their 'surprise' mentor Jamie Foxx, Oscar Winner for Best Actor in "Ray", the story of Ray Charles. The theme for this week was "Music from The Rat Pack Era", so we knew that it was going to be some great standards done by the contestants.
Kris Allen opened the show with "The Way You Look Tonight" and raised the bar a notch or two.
Allison Iraheta surprised the judges, except for Simon, with her take on "Someone To Watch Over Me".
Then it was Matt Giraud's turn, and he cranked it up another notch this week with a great version of "My Funny Valentine".
Danny Gokey proved why he is going to be in the finals with his rousing rendition of "Come Rain or Come Shine", which had the audience standing through almost the whole song.
Adam Lambert closed the show with "Feeling Good", and had all the judges raving about his brilliant performance.
Overall it was a really good show, but that being said, the last three contestants overshadowed the first two by a mile, in my opinion, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Kris and Allison in the bottom two. If they have a bottom three then it will be Matt Giraud, but I don't think they will choose more than two for the bad news. Hopefully it will not be Allison going home, but my heart tells me that she is going to be moved aside so the guys can duke it out in the Final Four.
Personally, I would like them to surprise everyone and vote Adam Lambert off, just get the playground on a more level stand. But that is wishing for too much. It is Adam's title to lose and if he keeps going he will win it all easily.
Tomorrow night we have Taylor Hicks and his Soul Patrol returning for a visit. And we will see who goes home.

I'm not sure who is leaving tonight, I am thinking maybe Matt or Kris. As long as Danny is safe which I am positive that he is safe, because I think that he will be in the final 2.

Bah, forgive the lateness of my rundown. Last night I had a "Meet the Parents" night with my current beau so I had to watch the show this afternoon.
Ratpack night... and Jamie Foxx mentoring. Yeah cause actors who sing are totally all on the same level... Whatever, just another advertising spot for a "mentor". I'm so sick of mentors who just lavish them in praise... I guess that's what they were paid to do though so... Meh! Oh and how in the hell do they expect to find a current and relevant artist by making them sing standards from their parents/grandparents era? I really don't get it.
On to the contes............... sorry dosed off there for a moment. The contestants. Yeah like we care at this point. Maybe I should take your advice and quit this show cause I simply don't give a crap anymore. Adam and the Gokeysaurus are being pimped to no end and America follows the shows pimping like the lambs they are, so just save us a few weeks and eliminate Allison, Kris and Matt now? Bah! so frustrating.
1. Allison - Girl, quit and go make a record at a studio that will let you be you. I don't want Allison to win cause if she does we'll never get a record of her being herself. Simon, despite what you say, winning is not important. Go ask Ruben and Taylor how winning helped them...
2. Kris - Nice, but who care? WTF does "wet" mean... Was the show in Bizaro world last night? Paula was more coherent than ever and Simon was using metaphors that made zero sense...
3. Adam - Flamebert does it again "stop being too dramatic and theatrical" was code for "stop being so gay". Newsflash from 5 years from now "Adam Lambert busted in LA Men's Room!"
4. Gokey - Does he need to yell at me all the time? God, and Randy you sound like a broken record cause you say the exact same words every night. And it's still a popularity contest, not a singing one and nothing is ever going to change that.
5. Matt - My "cummy" Valentine? "I loved your phrasing" so saying words wrong is good now? Great, I'll go shoot myself while this d-bag makes a CD.
Bottom 3: Kris, Allison and Matt
Matt goes home.

I'm late, but, yeah, this week was boring. Adam was the only memorable one of the night, and Matt was the worst. So, I wasn't surprised to see him go tonight. And it had to be one of the worst results shows for me--Nat Cole was horrible, I've nevered cared for Taylor Hicks, and I just don't get the new trend with Jamie Foxx's freaky echo-techno crap.
Anyway, next week looks to be a bit better with rock and roll.

If one more person lip-syncs on this show I will officially quit it.
Absolutely loved Simon not going along with the Jamie Foxx "love" the other judges were giving. Look, I can play a CD and hop around like a retarded monkey too...
AI has jumped about 6 dozen sharks this season and we still have three weeks left to go.
oh and DD, Natalie Cole is dying from hepatitis... and she still effin sang live! She might have sounded like a shrill banshee but she at least sang! What was "hype my latest movie and terrible song" Foxx's excuse?
I'm honestly pissed off.

One of the main reasons that I never watch the show live on results night. I DVR it and then I can fast forward through the CRAP and get to why we watch the show in the first place, to see who is getting the boot!!!
Although I am a big Taylor Hicks fan, and have seen him twice in the touring show of "Grease", and I bought his new CD, and I believe that the song he sang tonight was the weakest song on the set. I love this new album "The Distance" a thousand times more than his 'Idol' controlled first CD.
What was up with Adam being in the bottom two? That shocked me, even though I am getting tired of his being a "Camera Whore"!!! I think now that there is a slim chance that he won't see the finals, and that won't hurt my feelings in the least, although I doubt that it will happen because this is his contest to lose.

I smirked when I saw Adam in the bottom two, coz I knew that you were hoping that he would, and I thought that it would be crazy if he did, life is so ironic !

This season I think that Jamie Foxx was the best of the lot. He has won an Oscar for his performance as Ray Charles in "Ray", in which he did all his own vocals. He has won numerous Emmy's for his television work, and a couple of Grammy's for his recorded work. Don't think that makes him just 'another advertising spot' on American Idol. Foxx currently has the number one song in the nation, and that makes it okay with me to help these kids along with their becoming a better artist. He has been there, done that, and has the scars to prove it.
Every one of the contestants was blown away by his 'up-front honesty' with them about their performances. Matt did just what he was told, and Simon, for what it was worth, said it was "brilliant"!!
I think you better find another mentor to complain about, because Jamie Foxx was the best they have had this season. And that includes next week when they have drugged up, used up, non-talented guitar virtuoso Slash as their mentor. When was the last time he ever had a hit record since Guns 'n' Roses??

I never watch the whole results night, because it's so stupid to have an hour show to eliminate one person. I only watch the last 10 minutes every week. Last night when I saw Adam was in the bottom two I was shocked, just because he has a big fan base. I was actually glad he was in the bottom two and I was hoping that he would go home.

I'll take a moderate position... Jamie Foxx was highly annoying but gave the best advice of any mentor this season.
My rankings:
1. Kris Allen
2. Allison Iraheta
3. Danny Gokey (his best performance yet)
4. Matt Giraud
5. Adam Lambert
1-3 very good (bought all their performances on iTunes)... 4 and 5 were terrible. Adam Lambert made a flashy Vegas mess of an excellent song.
Pleased with the bottom two (thrilled that Adam was in it... too bad he didn't go home, though).

I'd die if Kris Allen won the competition.
I think the only reason that Adam was in the bottom three was because AI were trying to find ways to let our eyes glued to the television during the commercials, that's how they make money anyway, which is what I always thought when Alisson was always in the bottom three.

From that statement then I take it you don't watch any musical movies. They are all lip-synced for production reasons. Even "High School Musical" movies are all lip-synced.
Why don't you try to dance around and do all the moves they were doing and try to sing at the same time. You will then understand why there are times that every show has production values that require pre-recording the vocals.
There are not many shows on television except for Leno, Letterman and the late night shows that don't have lip-synced performances by the guest artists.
From the reviews I have read 95% of the Britney Spears concert is pre-recorded and she lip-syncs to everything in the show. And they expect people to pay from $100 to $500 a seat for that.
Ease up Widdi, lip-syncing has been around a lot longer than you or I have been.

Personally, I despise lip-syncing, just because I think if a singer wants to make money off of singing, then they shouldn't pretend to be doing it. The only reason I don't mind the American Idol lip-syncing is because most people who were in a concert would have weeks/months to prepare their dance moves, instead of a couple of days. And the group songs totally suck anyway.

Is she? I didn't know that. To be honest, that was the first time I'd ever heard or seen her before.

I think dying is a bit strong. From what I understand it's pretty under control.

Well considering she is on Larry King right now saying she needs a Kidney Transplant or she's going to die, I don't think "dying" is a bit strong.
And let me just clear this up: I don't think Jamie Foxx was a bad mentor, I just think the week they chose to have him mentor in didn't make much sense.

Isn't the kidney transplant not a problem? I seem to recall her in an interview saying getting one wouldn't be a problem. I won't swear by it, though.
