The Coprse Bride
Starring: Johnny Depp
Directed By Tim Burton

Thoughts
Back in the 90s Tim Burton Came out With Disneys Nightmare Before Christmas... and today its a big hit... I didnt really like it.. i found it too weird but I did enjoy elfmans music... I seen some burton films (batman, charlie and choclate factory. big fish)... i did enjoy them (charli was great) so I didnt know what to expect with Coprse Bride... Well I went to see it tonight and I enjoyed it... while its not my favorite film... I did enjoyenjoy its and its one of the better films of 05... I enjoyed it better than TNBC... the muisc was as memorable but everything was better about it... the wedding song is great though.

Overall The Coprse Bride gets a A-

Well he is married to a corpse in the movie, I have seen the movie twice and it is very good, Maybe you should see the movie, you may understand it a little more. I think you would like the film Alan, I also think you should see A Nightmare before Christmas. That way you will no who Jack is, both movies are very entertaining

I saw this movie last week and thought it was great! Not as good as Nightmare Before Christmas... but still good. I definitely have to get the soundtrack, the music was great.

I thougth that the villain of the movie was a total jerk and didn't like him at all, which is funny 'cause Oogie Boogie is a completely likeable villain

I wanted to see it a second time but it's out of my theaters already (yet they kept 40 Year Old Virgin for like a month and a half  )

I was really shocked that it haven´t heard any "muddy" news about this movie...
Considering affairs like the ones of "The Lion King" and "Aladdin" we can say that is doing fine :P

Meaningless statistics but I figure I'd share since this is what it's all about these days.

Corpse Bride's box office figures as of this date are 47.9 million. The movie has done fairly well, although myself I was expecting at least the 80 millions. I figure since NBC has this insane following that people would show up in droves after it's release.

It's a really good movie and hopefully it wins the Oscar. :D But I'm surprised it's done so average, maybe if it would've been released this month it would've scored better.

But cheers to Tim Burton for another great masterpiece.

Hey, i just got back from watching this, i thought the cinema would've been a bit busier than it was, considering it was the release day, but i prefer it with less people. :P

As for the movie, i've been waiting for this movie for absolutely ages! So naturally i couldn't wait to see it, i think the animation was outstanding, and Helena-Bonham Carter was an excellent choice for Emily, but i think the story line was lacking in something, i don't want to sound dissapointed as i really enjoyed the movie, but i think that because i've been waiting for it for so long, i expected it to be better than it was. Dis this happen with anybody else?

I'll be awaiting the DVD release though :D

P.S- i don't think the rest of the cinema liked it much though, i overheard one man say 'well that was a complete waste of time and money!'

Wallace and Gromit are going to have that distinction in March. I'd be surpised if they DIDN'T win. They have too much going for them: 1.) The best reviewed animated film of the year; 2.) One of the best reviewed films of ANY genre; 3.) Lots of sympathy votes for their recent loss of valuable history; 4.) the animations division loves Nick Park with three previous trophies in the short category; 5.) the Academy ALWAYS likes to throw in cumulative honors, in this case, they may think honoring Park in the feature will be homage to Chicken Run as well.

Yes, even if Wallace and Gromit dosn' t win, its biggest competititor is Howl's Moving Castle

I wouldn't be suprised if people did want their money back after seeing Corpse Bride, considering it was much less than it really was advertised as, and beause if you would of seen the trailer, you could of seen half the movie for free.

I have to say that I think it's time for you and I both to let go of the idea that Howl's Moving Castle will be represented this year. It's not looking so good for a nomination right now. The problem is, it was released too early. That's a problem for movies in ALL categories, not just animation. This is definately the year of the clay, so we can expect two spots will be filled. Even if may not be very good artistically, Chicken Little will definately be there. The only way it wouldn't happen is if it bombs critically and commercially. That doesn't look like it's going to happen: early screenings are favorable and it's sure to make some decent money. There has yet to be a year where they honored a line-up solely based on art, and I don't think this will be the year either. Besides, Hayao already won in this category. They're going to want to spread the wealth. We can hope that there's five nominees this year, but according to cartoonresearch, not enough films will be released for that. I really don't mind. Howl's Moving Castle is really good, but it so happens that this is a very strong year for animation, and it's simply not the best.

Wallace and Gromit has already won Oscars, yet Howl's hasn't. So I still don't see how spreading the wealth would hurt Howl's.

Actually he meant for Best Animated Feature. Wallace and Gromit won best animated shorts, while Hayao Miyazaki has already won for "Spirted Away".

Actually it's still in the box office. Besides even if it was, Chirstmas would be way too early. The only film that got released on DVD that soon was Surviving Christmas(does anyone actually remember that film ).

My guess would probably be around August or September.

Yes, but do you know how many people have won multiple Oscars? Tim Burton has won Oscars, and so has Wallace and Gromit. So literally they all should have an equal chance to win. Not to which category they are in. Miyazaki never won an award, Spirited Away did. Until I see Miyazaki win best director, he hasn't won an award. Howl's has never won.

Has he? For what films? I don't think he has won any awards for best director or screenplay or anything like that.

Tim Burton has never won an Oscar. In fact, he has never been nominated.

The award for Best Animated Feature goes to the director, so yes, Hayao Miyazaki actually has a trophy with his name on it. His name is listed under the award in the database as well.

There have only been four people to win in this category, and Nick Park isn't one of them. Rest assured, this will be his time. Howl's Moving Castle may not even get nominated, that's what I'm trying to say, so Nick can rest easy now. I'm an Oscar watcher, meaning I hunt down all the FYC posters and Acadamy reactions from screenings on the internet. Yes, voters loved Howl's Moving Castle back in May, but all their love has gone to the clay. Everyone knows campaigs have a mind of their own and sometimes count more than the actual movie. Do you actually think Disney is going to spend millions into Howl's Moving Castle when they could do it for their own movie, Chicken Little?
