Those clips on IMDB were . . . nice. Interesting how they mentioned the incorperation of dancing with animation.

Could anyone post a direct link to the new footage shown on the Disney.com site ? As I'm from the UK, it keeps redirecting me to the UK page, so I cant see it :(

I liked the new clip; the sisters thing was presumably from the DVD special features. But did anyone notice a new version of 'Main Titles' playing in the clip ? Do you think this will be in the opening of the movie, just as it was with the first? I really hope so, because if it is, that would be amazing !

Poody, do you remember if it was played at all ?

If you're talking about the four clips that were in the video section, they've all been seen before. There's Marina's song clip of "Just One Mistake", the second of the three clips from Ariel's "I Remember", Flounder's "hip beatboxing" , and Sebastian's "more to this place than meets the eye". I also uploaded the unlockable Catfish Club clip on YouTube a day or two ago-
I'm also going to be uploading the two new clips from IMDb onto YouTube (in HQ! :) ) Thanks for sharing, gumby17! :)

I haven't bought a Disney direct to video dvd in sooooooo long & I am hopeful that they haven't ruined a Disney animated classic in a couple years. I'm really hoping to read a great review from Luke about the movie. I know the audio/video/extras will be fine but I want a movie that isn't just an electronic babysitter. Please don't suck. Please don't suck. I really WANT to buy you TLM: AB!!! (& Tinker Bell in October too).

Okay y'all, just uploaded the last two clips for those who can't access IMDb. And just to review, I'll also include the two that I uploaded the other day.

1) Keep Oceans Clean TV Spots

2) A Night at the Catfish Club

3) Teaching Mermaids to Dance

4) World Wide Water Web

I'm not completely sure about the titles of the last two, but using what was already reported about the DVD extras, and what is revealed in the clips, I just took an educated guess. ;)

I also noticed that the "WWWW" (number 4)'s background music is that of the "Main Titles" score from the original film, with the fish swimming around during the opening credits... I'm not sure, though. Just like how the background music for one of the pages on the website sounds like the score from the series' episode "The Evil Manta", with "In Harmony"- just a few notes are slightly different.

edit: Just noticed that Juuchan17 noticed it, too. lol Well at least I'm not going crazy. :P

Same here, except I'm buying it anyway. :P

Enjoy the clips, guys! :)

I believe that was actually Atlantica who noticed it. I did, too, and it's one thing that actually goes back to the mysterious majesty of the first film, not this calypso club crap. The animation looked bad in that new clip at the club. Proportions were real bad. I guess the "flowing" of the animation was what looked good, but even sometimes it looked stilted, choppy, like not enough frames or something.

You know, it's not completely fair to compare AB's animation to TiT's anyway. Considering TiT had much more to live up to (as Cinderella, as all Walt-era films, has much more consistent animation than TLM), so I wouldn't be surprised that it's sequel would or should have better animation. This is really why I haven't been judging the film based simply on the animation, as I never expect a sequel (especially one to one of the modern-day films) to have great OMG animation. If it did, Disney wouldn't waste that much money without releasing it theatrically.

And even if I were to judge what I've seen based on animation alone, I still don't think it's that bad. Most of my complaints are with altered character designs, not the animation (although there are moments, as is to be expected), such as Triton's strange-looking beard. What I've seen from the commercials and promos has shown a fluid and mostly consistent movement (including characters in the background who they didn't have to animate at all). You can't simply judge a film on stills, otherwise you obviously would see many flaws.

Also, the backgrounds would have to be more detailed for Cinderella than it would TLM, as Cinderella has castles, furniture and everything else inbetween to deal with. TLM only needs some rock, seaweed and water.

But, getting past all that, I really don't think the storyline is any worse than TiT. Sure, TiT has some great moments (when Tremaine goes back in time, particularly), but is it a great storyline? Sorry, but I don't find a stepmother stealing a fairy godmother's wand good material. As for characterization, even if Triton may sound a bit off in character descriptions, do you think Lady Tremaine or the Prince were right? Lady Tremaine was pushed into a show-stopping role that didn't suit her, which showed the most when she threatened both her daughters at points throughout the film. And the Prince? Maybe they gave him more depth, but they obviously didn't hold on to the original character (in design or characterization).

So, personally, I would appreciate it if you please cooled off on the AB bashing. It may not be a great film, but neither is any sequel Disney's given us thus far. And excuse me for possibly enjoying it, as your Cinderella bias couldn't possibly be any better than my Ariel bias.

Twist in Time's storyline makes more sense to me than AB, there's so many things that I find odd or just aren't making sense such as:

The Pirates: Pirates? First impression was that it's lame and rather random.

The Music Ban: It's like a completely different Triton is ruling, in TLM he had concerts, well one concert that we saw. Yet now he hates it and bans it, again with the lame and random impressions.

Marina: She seems out of place and her intentions? what are they exactly it's almost like they said "we can't think of any good motives at the moment so we'll just make it up as we go" I don't have high hopes for Marina she seems a tad annoying at the moment.

Flounder: Not going to comment much he seems too out of character though and also a bit annoying in the beatboxing scene.

Now moving on to the animation, I agree 100% with Disney Duster on the club scene, it looks stilted and choppy, will that change? who knows until we see it but as of right now I think it looks awful. Also it seems like a lot of scenes in the club have bad animation, especially when Ariel first goes there and waves to Flounder she looked so off and had that freaky facial expressions. Just plain bad, as I said in my previous post which was ignored, it looked like she was hit with the Jokers laughing gas same type of facial expression.

Now I would appreciate it if everyone would back off of Disney Duster, he's stating his honest opinions and he is very well entitled to do so REGARDLESS of whether or not you agree. If you don't like it then don't read the posts, and I honestly have NOT seen him bash the movie in the last couple pages. Unless of course Bashing means stating your opinion  Just because he has a Cinderella bias means nothing, if this was a reverse situation and you were talking in the Cindy 3 thread with AB already out would you get off your Ariel bias? I doubt it. Also I believe Duster's stated that TLM is one of his favorite movies (or I could be wrong) so it's not like he's a big hater of the whole series. I'm glad to see people like Duster and Siren (Jeremy as well I believe) saying honest critisisms of this movie it's a VERY refreshing break from everyone else going "OH MY GOD this is so great it's the best thing next to sliced bread" posts. It's almost as if everyone in here would rather die than admit there's flaws in this bloody film.

As I've said before, this is turning out to be one the middle sequels, definatley not the greatest so far, but not the worst either.

Thank you Cheranbog. I also agree about the Joker laughing gas scene. I CRINGE when I see that scene every time. Its horrible. Totally off model and scary looking.

As I said before, I am going to watch it, but I am not holding this movie in high regard. I must say when I heard they made a prequel for the first time I WAS excited. Especially when I heard we were getting some backstory on Athena.
The pirates is both random, and I agree, lame.
Triton banning music because he seems to think music caused his wife's death is so far from who Triton was in the second movie its not funny. In the second movie, he hates humans. He said because they are fish killers. I ALWAYS assumed they killed his wife. Either on purpose or accidentally. Afterall, dolphins eat fish and he had them strapped to the front of his shell-coach, so it couldn't be JUST because they ate fish. There was far more to it than that. I always assumed humans killed his wife. That's why he hated them.

Actually, let me go slightly off here....If I wrote the story for this film, this is how it would go.

Triton and Ursula live in the palace. Triton as king and Ursula perhaps as his adviser. Sebastian is there, but it the court composer, not the adviser. Ursula wants power, to get power over the kingdom she tries to get the king to marry her. But he only has eyes for Athena. They fall in love and marry. She has his daughters, over those years, angering Ursula more and more. Finally one day, Ursula hatches a plan. She gets Athena away from the safety of the kingdom, gets her to the surface. Perhaps in the same way Scar got Mufasa to the gorge. Placing her youngest daughter in harms way at the surface. (BTW, this was my backstory idea before TLK ever came out). Athena goes to save her daughter, but instead is killed by the humans. Ursula returns to the grieving king and tries to weasel her way in. Triton discovers what he thinks was her irresponsibility (he never knows she was directly at fault, if he did, he likely would have done worse than banish her), and he exiles Ursula. From that day on, Triton outlaws both his children and subjects from the surface and Ursula. Perhaps Sebastian is the one who finds out Ursula had some involvement and Triton is so impressed by him, he appoints Sebastian as his adviser. We still need something else to end happily on, but I never got that far.

Not trying to toot my own horn, but my story is better than this movie, IMHO.
