My brother is a buyer for Best Buy, so I get in all the early info for releases. There will be a link to look at in about two weeks and I will post it then.

That's funny. I don't know what else to say.

episode one would of been alot better if obiwan was already a jedi master and anakin was already obiwans apprentice
cause im sure im not the only one who didnt wanna see anakin as a child
and i dont know why they had to reveal what the force is and why was the queen in that awful make up and those terrible clothes and why did they need jar jar
sigh
but i loved episode 3 it was wonderful and im definetly gonna buy it when it comes to dvd

I have no problem with them showing Anakin as a child in The Phantom Menace. It helped tie into the Chosen One story, but it also gave us Midichlorians which I'm still not sure about. It takes away the whole mystery of the force that was present in the Original Trilogy. Although it is one way to identify the Chosen One, who does eventually bring balance to the force after getting "side tracked" in Episodes III though VI.
The actor they had for Anakin in The Phantom Menace was annoying. His "Yippies" were worse than the Jar Jar jokes sometimes. Actually the meeting of Anakin and Obi-Wan while short was nice to see because we all knew what was eventually going to happen between these two on the first Death Star.
I still have a problem with one of the Darth Vader parts in Revenge of the Sith. I'm sure it will grow on me, sort of like Jar Jar has, when I view it more. The part I'm talking about can be summed up in one word. NOOO!

You know what I'm talking about. I remember seeing it, even though I knew it was in the film, at the midnight screening. I just sat there in shock, it was horrible. I didn't know if I should laugh or cry about it. Anyway Revenge of the Sith was still a great film, and the best of the Prequel Trilogy, even though it felt rushed.

It doesn't matter. We are getting what Lucas wanted, not what fans hoped to see. It's about time people start realising this or they'll just keep getting disappointed. And BTW, the queen's "awful" make-up is there to indicate that she IS the queen. Sort of Like a crown. But I guess if Lucas had made here wear a crown there would also be complaints.
I'm sorry if this sounds mean, I'm not trying to attack you. But we must realise what's done is done, and if we keep thinking of what could've been, we'll end up being disappointed with the fun stuff we got. Star Wars was never more than a popcorn flick that became a phenomenon and yet people always expected top quality script and acting out of anything new he'd churn out. Every fan should just come to grips with what's available. Complaining or suggesting things now is far too late.

I think the whole story of The Phantom Menace was good, but there were many things that could have been better.
1. Make Jar Jar less kiddy.
2. Cast the great kid who auditioned (as seen on the DVD) and not Jake Lloyd.
3. Make Count Dooku the central villain and not Darth Maul, this would make it so Dooku appeared as important as he was. It also would have been great to see Dooku kill his own apprentice.
4. Replace the podrace with something else, or make it more exciting.

You sure do like Christopher Lee!
As for Phantom Meance, I've already mentioned it was the worst Star Wars movie IMO. Basically, it was too kidyish. Jake Lloyd got on my nerves too for some reason, I mean people complain about Hayden. Now is Hayden a good actor? No. He too got on my nerves, but he was still watchable, for some reason I had to laugh at Jake Lloyd, I guess it's just really hard to find a good kid actor.
I liked Clones better than Menace just because it was a bit more serious and was more enjoyable to watch than Menace(mainly because of that last battle scene

). However I agree the dialouge for the romance scenes were HORRIBLE. The acting was okay(not great or anything, but watchable) but it was the dialouge that really made me bored.
Overall with Revenge of the Sith coming to DVD, I can forget that Clones and Menace even existed!

There is a list of very enlightening essays/articles available about the prequels as suite101.com that might help explain a few things. I suggest reading them in order in which they were written.

Scroll to the bottom of the page to the Wisdom of the Living Force article, read it then work your way up to the top. The most recent article was done by someone else but I wish the original author would come back to give us his two cents.

A new Star Wars Trilogy box set is coming out the same day as Clone Wars Vol 2 (Dec 6th). Funny thing is its not a Prequel Trilogy box set, its another Original Trilogy.
Its only 3 discs instead of 4. I'm not sure if its just a re-release of the current box set minus the bonus disc, or if its something completely different. Its also supposed to be a limited edition.
The box art looks a lot like the old 1970s Star Wars poster for A New Hope.
I have no plans to pick this up unless they have changed the Trilogy again. Fixing the Lightsaber glitches (Vader's pink saber, Luke's color changing saber, etc...) and some of the sound issues in A New Hope would be worth a double dip on this DVD.
Also with the "old" artwork I'm wondering if this is finally the Original Original Non Special Edition Trilogy that Lucas says no longer exists. That while highly unlikely would instantly make this my Number 1 DVD of 2005. Not that I hate the Special Editions, but a cleaned up DVD set of the Originals that I grew up with would be great.

.....Um, no.
There is basically no reason to re-release the original trilogy when the set we have now is already great. If even they fix the few errors they made in the previous release, it's not worth buying the whole thing over again. I could be proven wrong in the future, but with the info we have now, I'm not impressed.

I don't get it?
Why are they rereleasing this? I mean it seems all they did was take away the 4th disc and added a different cover.
Is it going to be the original 1997 releases instead of the 2004 releases. If this is so I might consider rebuying it just to see that old Anakin instead of Hayden in ROTJ!

The 1997 Releases are still the Special Editions. They also have the horrible CGI Jabba in A New Hope. Sure he still didn't look right, but the 2004 DVD CGI Jabba was a lot better than the 1997 one.
I hope, although it want be, that this is the originals. The 1977/1980/1983 versions where Han shoots first, no CGI, no Hayden at the end of Jedi, etc... If they are going to change anything I would like to see the sabers fixed, rear channel audio on A New Hope, and somehow redo Hayden as Anakin at the end of Jedi. It just doesn't look right. I would purchase the set if more changes happen. If not then no.
I'm very pleased with the box set we have now. The Empire of Dreams on the bonus disc is very nice. The more I think about it, the more it seems as if this is just a re-release. Without the bonus disc it will be cheaper, plus people will be grabbing Episode III for Christmas Gifts. A cheap box set of the Original Trilogy would sell better than the 4 disc we have now during the Christmas rush.

DG just said he thought it wasn't as good as I and II, but still good. He doesn't mention the original trilogy anywhere, so why assume you think he thinks that III isn't as good as IV, V, and VI? And considering he said that back in July, why are you bringing it up now?
Anyways, IF (Big if here) this newfangled boxset really is the 1977/1980/1983 versions, then I'm definitely getting it. I'm currently borrowing my aunt's P&S copies from the 1995 VHS release, and maybe now I can give it back and get the OT.

As far as the Widescreen problem, I haven't noticed what everyone says here in Wichita. When they have the display out in front it is equally distributed with Full Screen and Widescreen. I do agree however that Wal-Mart does lean toward Full Screen quite a bit.
My Wal-Mart puts both copies on the displays to but the Widescreen are normally toward the bottom, Anyway there will be a New Wal-Mart opening the week before about 2 minutes drive/5 minutes walk from my house and hopefully they will do it right. I may also go at midnight to get this movie since it is so close

Is anyone going to get Star Wars Trilogy: Limited Edition with Episodes 4-6 or skip the double dip for Star Wars Complete Trilogies Episode 1-6?

If it has changed since the 2004 editions then I plan to pick it up, if not then I'm going to skip it.
I hope its changed and we get the Non Special Editions on DVD, although that will never happen.

I'll be getting neither. Once I get episode III, my Star Wars collection ends, unless something big happens in the future (and it has to be really BIG for me to double dip on the already great DVDs).
