The Jonas Bros really only exist to sell erasers and lunchboxes.
Purity rings? I have seriously never heard of such a thing. Is this something American or religious? Shouldn't it be about their music? Sexuality shouldn't have anything to do with this. I think it's time for America to talk to its kids about sex. Of course I get that it's so much easier to let your kids be educated at school... or by the Jonas Bros, Britney Spears or MTV. I'm sure that way they'll get the facts straight.
Still I gotta admit, it's a refreshing change from Disney's regular material. The music isn't nearly as painful to listen to as some of their other tween stars.
The Box Office flop is an indication that they're past their prime though. They couldn't even manage half the gross of Hannah Montana's concert flick.

1. They were a band before Disney ever had anything to do with them.
2. It could be due to parents not taking their kids, due to the economy, saying that they'll wait for the DVD instead.

1. playing with your guitars in your garage does not equal quality. Like I said, they're not as bad as most of Disney's music acts. Probaply because they've been together before Disney signed them. But that doesn't change the fact that they're Disney's puppets.
2. The Box Office is up 25% over the past few years,
because of the poor economy. The only two real flops of 2009 so far have been Confessions of A Shopaholic and The Jonas Brothers. Both are Disney films, wich indicates poor marketing from Disney and lack of interest.

That's subject for debate, I know a band who practises in their garage yet they get gigs because they're good. Just because they play(ed) in their garage doesn't mean they have poor quality, it just means they started from the bottom and have worked their way up.

They actually write their own music, fabricated image or not. It's not really fair that just because they caught a big break everybody bashes them so hard. I myself fall into that same mistake with several fabricated pop acts, so i try to stop myself and try to appreciate the good parts; but at the end of the day Jonas Brothers are tone of the very few I actually like.

Patrick, you should really listen to their music (including their pre-Disney music) before saying anything about the quality of their music.
I'm going at either 12:30 or 2:30 today to see the film in IMAX! Glorious IMAX! It was funny- my friend and I were at the movie theater yesterday for a free movie screening, and we were there extra-early, and we went to where they were playing the JB movie, and we could totally hear it from the hallway. I asked if she wanted to take a peak, but we didn't know if there was an usher in there. Turns out there probably wasn't, because a few minutes later, one went in with a clipboard. Maybe making sure that if 15 people bought a ticket, only 15 people were in there? I don't know. I'm really excited, though! But it turns out that the extra money I'm getting won't be coming for a few weeks apparently, so I have to "borrow" from my regular bank account. Not like you all need to know that, lol.

rs_milo_whatever wrote:Right, I mean, there are people that have been virgins before the Jonas Brothers were even born. Blaming artists or films for sending a wrong message is a pointless thing to do; good or bad these are personal decisions. Morals or religion, good or bad message, if abstaining from sexual activities until they find the one person they love is what they believe in I don't see why they shouldn't stand for it; people usually think it's a good thing. It's a shame how today even for promoting a good value there will be people who want to ruin it for everybody and find something wrong with whatever it is they can find something wrong with.
And herein lies the reason for us to disagree. You automatically assume that wearing 'purity/promise rings' is promoting a "good value". But I still haven't heard from you why it's a good value. I do think teenage boys and girls look up to their idols and they mimick certain things they do. I'm not saying the Jonas Brothers can't decide for themselves what they want to do with their lives. I'm just saying this whole 'promise ring' stuff is a marketing stunt, just like it was a stunt when Britney Spears wanted to convey an image of 'perfect daughter-in-law' when she said she wanted to remain a virgin until marriage. We all know how well that worked out, right? I think the promise rings may not be a good idea because, as I've said before, it may send out repressive messages to teenagers.

I meant to say that if it was gonna be viewed as something to anybody else, it should be a good value. I mean, may be not everybody thinks so anymore but holding off until marriage is a good thing for quite a percentage of the population including myself. it may not be important to many, or may be not make sense; but I believe that that is the way it's supposed to be. Call me old-fashioned I guess, and I don't mean to offend anybody that disagrees with me because it's a personal choice.
Now, back on topic. Do you really think any artist out there isn't told what to do by their record label? Disney of course is going to squeeze every penny they can get out of them, just like every other label does to every other artist. If you wanna get technical over image and merchandising you'll find no successful artist on a label to be free of this fault. It doesn't necessarily mean the have sold-out, but show business is a business nonetheless, and you have to know how to sell a product; even a record. What it really should come down to is music. I am a straight 18 year old male so the boys' looks have no effect on the way I judge their music and I never really buy any singer's merchandise that isn't a CD or may be concert memorabilia so it's really not about any other product for me. It's about the music like it's supposed to. I invite you to may be look up some YouTube videos of their music, take a totally bias gander, forget the billions of screaming tween girls, and give them a listen; give them the chance mature audiences won't allow themselves to enjoy and you'll see that the actually have pretty good music.

Jonas Brothers would wear their rings whether or not they were a Disney act- that's just who they are. Their dad was a pastor, just FYI. I think that JB are "vocal" about their promise rings because people ask them about it. I doubt that they were the first ones to talk about it; reporters probably started asking what the rings on their hands meant, and then it just spiraled from there.

Prepare for a major smack down Jonas Bros. You and your purity rings are the basis of the season 13 premiere of South Park tomorrow night.
This is going to be awesome.

I just got an email from Jonas Brothers, and it says:
We are thrilled to announce that we're getting back out on the road for our FIRST WORLD TOUR - - THE JONAS BROTHERS WORLD TOUR 2009! We are so excited to come to your city and play you all our NEW music from our upcoming JUNE 15th album release!
I was all happy, but then I was going to write it on my calendar, but June 15th is a Monday, and albums are released on Tuesdays in the U.S., so now I'm confused.
And it says:
Tickets in select markets go on sale March 20th (or March 16th if you're a Fan Club member) and all dates are on sale March 28th.
And, if any of you are JB fans who live in Texas:
Our first World Tour date is in DALLAS, TEXAS at the NEW COWBOYS STADIUM. This will be an EXTRA SPECIAL show that will include SPECIAL GUESTS like we have done in previous shows in LA and Nashville. You never know who might join us on stage!!!! We are so excited to start our tour in this amazing new stadium.

I'm already using up my trips to upper Texas to see Rent and No Doubt/Paramore. I was hoping for a Mexican leg on the tour.

Coming this soon to J.C. Penney, Kmart, Sears and Walmart… the Jonas clothing line. The girls clothing line will be based on the wardrobe from the upcoming Disney Channel TV show.
There are pictures of 3 pieces of clothing on the tommy2.net homepage, if anyone cares.

Info on the clothing line and more info on their upcoming Disney Channel show, "Jonas" (I guess they changed the name from "J.O.N.A.S.", since the storyline has changed):
The apparel collection, called Jonas, will follow the launch of the Disney Channel’s highly anticipated “Jonas” TV show, which is set to begin airing in May. On “Jonas,” the boys play the fictional New Jersey-based Kevin, Joe and Nick Lucas — a trio of teenage brothers who make up the world’s most popular rock band, Jonas (which happens to be the name of the street they live on in the show). On the show, the Lucas brothers do their best to live regular lives, but always seem to find themselves in the middle of some absurd situations. The comedy is set at the Lucas home, and at their private school, Horace Mantis Academy (a play on the well-known Riverdale, N.Y.- based private Horace Mann School).
Another major character on the show is the Lucas’ stylist-in-training, childhood friend Stella Malone, who not only keeps the brothers grounded, but also helps them out on the fashion front.
The Jonas tween apparel collection is inspired by the preppy clothing seen on the show, and nearly all of it is not character driven — there are argyle sweater vests with the Horace Mantis Academy logo on the front; woven tops; T-shirts; polo shirts with ruffle accents on the neck and sleeves; plaid belted shorts; leggings; denim skirts, and jeans. The collection will retail from $9.99 to $24.99. The more than 200 Disney Stores around the country will carry a separate collection of Jonas Brothers T-shirts, which will have graphics of the three brothers on them.
Lifford admitted the brothers aren’t involved with the design of the product since the clothing is based on the characters they play on the show, not on their real day-to-day lives. Because they are on tour, none of the Jonas Brothers was available for comment. Lifford said Disney is planning major in-store promotions for the launch season and will work to support each of the retailers’ needs.

So...the clothing line is being put out for girls only? That's what it's looking like to me, wouldn't it make more sense to put out stuff for guys as well if that's the case?

I don't know if it was in the article I posted above or if it was in a different one (I think it must've been the one from above), but they're going to start with the girls line, but I don't think they're ruling out boys clothes. I guess they figure that a majority of JB fans are females, and the clothing line will probably sell better in the girls' department than it would in the boys' department?
