So, with the 3-disc set a strong possibility, is everyone still planning on getting the two-disc? I'm having serious second thoughts. Anyone deciding to wait till May? I really want to see the movie again already, but I don't want to double dip just to get a third disc of extras and would rather wait. Plus, I could get Gummi Bears next week instead.... Anyways, what is everyone else going to do, buy it anyway or wait for May?

I'm going to purchase the 2-Disc Special Edition. Besides, I will probably only watch the bonus features like 2 times, that's what I've done with CotBP.

I'm going to get the 2 disc on Tuesday. I don't want to wait until May, especially since it's not a definate.

I'll just get the BestBuy 3-disc edition, and if the third disc for the May 2007 release is worth picking up, I'll buy it again and give the two-disc to someone else. Woohoo, then I'll have a nice four-disc set for Dead Man's Chest

(Then of course, come Christmas 2007, a megaset trilogy of POTC will likely appear with even more discs with material, like trailers, and I'll buy it all over again)

I think Im just gonna get the 2 disc set. I dont feel like waiting till May. Plus, even though I saw it 3 times while I worked at the theatres, my parents never got to see it. So they'll be happy to have to DVD so they can finally watch it.

I'm going to be buying the 2-Disc set, with Bonus Disc, at Best Buy.

Here is the link to the review of the 2-Disc set at DVDTalk.com:

Hmm, I may pick up the 2-disc edition after all. Not sure where though, IF I do. I really want to have it to watch over Christmas... Sounds like it's loaded with stuff, but it also sounds like a 3-disc is possible too...(since some places are doing it already...) I guess I will let my decision lie on the Sunday ad deals... I'm kinda wondering if anyone will have a deal on the Disney Legacy sets, and I still need the newest wave of Disney Afternoon releases. Plus, there's Narnia, which I really wanted to have before Christmas. There's the 3-disc Kong DVD now too... But, I can only spend just so much, so of all those things and many more, I will probably just get one, probably next week, and I'll probably decide on Sunday. At least I don't have to worry about the Superman Ultimate Collection, since I want to wait until they have the corrected versions in stores, and I'll be getting the new Treasures wave as Christmas gifts.

Well, I broke down and bought the 2-disc release after all. As long as any upcoming 3-disc release (if there is one) isn't an extended cut, I probably won't feel too bad about not double dipping. I mean, might as well wait till I am getting Blue Rays or something to get it again. If it's an extended cut though, then I'll probably want it...

Anyways, I probably should have gotten it at Best Buy for the extra disc, but I decided to save 2 bucks and go to Circuit City, ha. I was hoping for that free game disc, as they USUALLY have the extra stuff at my local Circuit City, but they didn't this time.

I did have to go to Best Buy to make an exchange, and while I was there, I was very tempted to take advantage of the three for 30 bucks deal they have this week INSTEAD of getting Pirates. I could have gotten Shaggy Dog (original), Swiss Family Robinson 2-disc, and Sky High widescreen. It would have been the better bargain, but my excitement to see Pirates again won out. I was also tempted by the Disney True Life Adventure DVDs and the new wave of Disney Afternoon shows... Need ALL that stuff, but could only make one choice. I so miss the days when the 2-disc sets were under 20 bucks on their release week! Releasing single-discs is just a way to stick it to the hardcore fans!

My local K-Mart held with tradition and shelved "Pirates" early. Sunday afternoon we were shopping as I usually do on Sunday's I cruised by the Electronics Department and there it was on the shelf and totally misspriced as well. I picked up Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest - Widescreen- 2-disc edition for $18.99. Got my receipt and smiled as I left the premises quickly.

Is the BEST BUY Bonus Disc the only way to get the Trailer for POTC: DMC? :(

I didn't get my DVD today since the 2 DISC is so darned expensive.......maybe I'll get it tomorrow at Shopko, its 55+ Shopping Day and my mom is going. I'll be getting my dad a copy of the single disc edition there (he doesn't care for special features).

edit: I checked circuitcity.com and they have the 2 DISC Special Edition Widescreen for $19.99! And I had gift cards to use, so I ordered a copy. I'll get it next week sometime.

I'll still get my dad's copy tomorrow.

Either that or buying a Disney DVD that has it in its Sneak Peeks menu.

I bought the 2-Disc Edition after I got off work but I was just in Blockbuster and saw that they have a Bad-Ass looking Tin so I might buy the Single Disc as a Christmas Gift for my Grandmother so I can get the Tin, And then my Grandma will be getting 2 X-Mas Gifts from me as I already Picked up Cinderella for her.

I bought the 2 disc at Best Buy with the bobblehead for 9.99. By the time I got there though, they were out of bonus discs.

Got my copy today! I never had a chance to see this in the theater, unfortunately, and I must say that Dead Man's Chest exceeded all my expectations. The story, acting, plot development, SFX, score and video quality are outstanding. I'm now really looking forward to seeing the next film and this time I'll get to the theater one way or another! Kudos to Disney for bringing us a pirate masterpiece. I'll probably watch all the special features over the weekend.

POTC - DMC - Special Features disc

Has anyone started watching the special features disc yet? I started last night. There is a feature called According to Plan that is very interesting. I knew that the POTC films were big productions but I guess it never dawned on me the full scope of what was involved to get one of these films shot. So many people, props and vehicles to haul to locations. It looked like some of the work could be quite treacherous and dangerous. It's almost like deploying a small army. The logistics of organizing it all is just amazing!

I also liked the Captain Jack: From Head to Toe feature. It gives good background as to the "why" and "wherefore" of Captain Jack's clothing. Some of the items were personal property of Johnny Depp and help him flesh out the character.

Anyway, I could not find a thread just on the special features so I thought I'd start one.

From the title of this post, I thought that "DMC" was referring to the Disney Movie Club and that they were going to have an extra disc which would allow me to have a 4-disc set. lol. Anyways, I've watched all the bonus features on disc 2 and they were all great, except for the red carpet Disneyland one. I had seen a video podcast that was much more informative and I would have rather seen them use that then just show the actors on the carpet. I haven't delved into the Best Buy bonus disc yet, but I've been watching a little bit of the commentary each night before bed and that's very informative.

I haven't gotten to the commentary yet but I did finish the bonus features tonight. I'd like to have seen that podcast you refer to. Is it available as a download somewhere?

If it is, Hogi Bear can likely find it for us.

I wish they had included any podcasts onto a bonus disc, I relish any backstage information.

Anyways, I watched the BestBuy bonus disc first day I got it, it's pretty good (for 20 minutes of featurettes and a sweet boatload of trailers). Watched "Charting the Return", "Meet Davy Jones", and a little bit about "Creating the Kraken" today. Really good stuff.

One thing I wish the second movie's bonus DVD had was similar set-up in format that the first movie's bonus DVD had. Also wouldn't have minded seeing more production diaries and Fly on the Set featurettes. Still, what we've got (and what I've seen so far) is a really nice set of features, so I shouldn't complain. After all, POTC2 one-ups POTC1 with their trailer-heavy BestBuy bonus disc! :D
