I'll have to disagree with that. I think in order to show off the restoration, they compared it to VHS quality clips. So far, it's looking the same as the Limited Issue release. They can do a FAR better job with the restoration than that, I hope that's just a work in progress of what we'll actually get. Those who own the LE should check it out or maybe the movie I downloaded has the best picture quality there is.

Yeah, I kinda' think it was the VHS too. I also think are friends at Disney somewhat make the picture a little worse off then it was.

In the <a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/comingsoon.html">Upcoming Schedule page</a>, scroll down to Lady and the Tramp and click on #2 from the "Screencaps from first DVD preview."

I find the 4 screen shots interesting...

3 out of the 4 are "scenic" shots.... They do not show any characters from the movie..

The clips sort of have a romantic feel to them... Is this how Disney are promoting the movie this time ?

Well, the ones with characters were merely pictures from a 1.33:1 version of the film...not particularly illustrative for my purposes of showing screencaps from "the first DVD preview." This teaser is pretty much like <i>Bambi</i>'s first one, emphasizing how it is one of Walt Disney's masterpieces, etc. The scenic shots are better choices to overlay titles and dates and that's why they were chosen.

Hey guys, I don´t know if you have noticed it, but a teaser site has been up since even before the coverart was released.

Unfortunately, the trailer isn´t available yet.

Hey guys it's here!
The offical trailer has just been posted on the Disney site!
(reminder for those who don't have it- www.ladyandthetrampdvd.com)
I can't wait for this special edition dvd to be released. It looks fantastic although I don't think it's the best Disney Platium trailer I've ever seen. Have you notices how now their not advertisting what will be on the dvd? Now that just advertise the movie itself which I think is the way to go. People want to know about the movie in the trailer not the extras.

I think with these Platinum Collection titles, which on videocassettes found their way into more homes than any other Disney movies, most people know about the movie and would like to know about the extras. Kind of disappointing that there's not been a trailer with extras info for <i>Cinderella</i>, but then they'd just have sports clips and Raven, I suppose.

Thanks for posting!
That was a nice short trailer, though nothing too exciting. It´s interesting to notice that the trailer on the site advertises it as a Special Edition, rather than a Platinum Edition as on the DVDs.

Well, I´m quite excited with this release (how could a fan NOT be?!) and the bonus features revealed so far actually sound quite good. There has never been as much material on "Lady and the Tramp" out there as there has been for other Disney classics, which makes this DVD edition even more antecipated. I just wish Disney will give us an audio commentary this time (where are the other promissed Inside Walt´s Story Meetings?!).

Wasn't this movie the first Disney one to be in widescreen?

Correct.

It was filmed in CinemaScope at a 2.35: 1 aspect ratio. Since there were not enough theaters at the time that were capable of showing widescreen movies, Lady & The Tramp was also filmed in a fullscreen 1.33:1 aspect ratio.

It's a very nice cover and I'm pleased, but just like everyone else, I have a few complaints.

First: The logo. Way too plain. I loved the Limited Issue one. RE-DO.

Second: Too crowded. I think Si and Am, and Peg could have been saved for the back cover. RE-DO.

Third: Lighting. I, personally thing more of the light should be on Lady and Tramp, just like on the teaser web-page. RE-DO.

...and, besides that, it's perfect! :P

*tlm

BTW, I just watched the trailer on the teaser site, and it is different than the one on Toy Story! The font has been changed to the one on the new cover and they do not show the comparisons etc. etc.

DVDanswers.com has posted hi-res cover art for Lady and the Tramp. I can't wait for this release, and I am glad that it is going to be presented in anamorphic 16x9 widescreen!

I absolutely hate the cover... each character is completley off model. Usually that does not bother me but this one is just craptastic in every possible way, I love the scene they picked, but stuffin all sorts of dogs in there that weren't in the scene and then not bother to me make them on model is a bad idea. I hope it improves by the time it comes out, like Bambi was changed about every week or so.
