Actually the average person on the street would probably say "Who?" or "What?".

Spirited Away and Howl's were good, but weren't really my cup a tea. Now what they have benefited from is the people who did love it just hyping out of this world.

I admire Japanese Animation for it's visual contexts but I've never been able to get into their story telling or fantasy styles. Suffice to say anime and it's sub categories will always be more of a niche than anything else.

Personally I don't see how anyone can ever say "best" for anything like movies or books. It's all a matter of style and preference.

Yeah Corpse Birde really didn't have to much in common with Nightmare. I mean there were small similarities like Zero and Scrapes, but the stories were very different. And I'm glad about that because I was afraid I was going to see the same exact movie as Nightmare which I didn't want. Yet I was glad!

Well Spirted Away did win the Oscar for Best Animated Picture and some people on UD probably wanted Lilo and Stitch to win! I haven't seen it, but would like to sometime.

To me CP almost felt like a live action movie that happened to be in stop animation.

Personally i was hoping this more of what haunted mansion would've been. Would've made perfect sense with the bride part of the attraction.

Corpse Bride should have beared the name Haunted Mansion instead of that Eddie Murphy comedy.

"Howl's" and "Spirited Away" are just two examples of non-Disney product that Buena Vista has distributed. Why does everyone get so excited about these films when they aren't truly Disney films. Good, yes, but they aren't Disney.

I have seen "The Corpse Bride" three times now, and I would say that Tim Burton has outdone himself. The animation is very smooth, the music is unforgettable, and the story is very funny on all levels.

I am not a fan of "Nightmare Before Christmas", but will now have to go watch it again and see what all the hype was about.

Johnny Depp and Emily Watson characters in "Corpse" are very funny and the whole premise of the story is very amusing. The humor is great on all levels, my grandkids laughed and laughed. I wish it was just a little longer, but I am glad that it is so darn good.

A definite must-have for the DVD collection and I rate this film a solid "8" on a scale of 1-10.

I don't see why a film has to be Disney for everyone to be excited about it.

I haven't gotten the chance to go see Corpse Bride yet, but I can't wait to. Maybe we'll get a re-release of Nightmare to promote the DVD release of this movie.

I'd have to disagree, Howl's Moving Castle has been the best animated film since 2002, in which Spirited Away was the previous best.

I'll march with you anyday on behalf of Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, but I'm not going to discredit the absolutely brilliant Finding Nemo and The Incredibles. I would also put 2001's Waking Life in that category with the best of the decade thus far.

I got Spirited away and as a former actor who appreciates both the arts and various types of mediums the problem isn't "getting it". I understand it just fine, it just doesn't move me (and a lot of people for that matter) the way it moves some of its biggest fans.

I personally think the move is overrated from it's fan, that doesn't mean it's a bad movie. The one thing that does bother me is that i've seen this response quite a bit from fans of the movie and it almost gets insulting that they insist you somehow didn't understand or you're intelligence is somewhat below that which is required to appreciate their art.

Art is subjective and strikes everyone differently and is based solely on opinion. The implication that some people don't get it just because they don't love it is pretty foolish.

Why are you people even arguing? If someone says, it's the best movie since 2002, that's their OPINION, there's no agureing someone's opinion. So your just wasting time by arguing about it.

It's starting to get laughable how so many people misinterpret my words and quote my posts for their own advantages - and it's the exact same people! I find the vast majority of people who say Spirited Away is overrated haven't even seen the movie, and when I say "get it", I don't mean understanding the plot. That's kind of basic, and I hope everyone on this board has moved past that level of critcism. There's philosophical implications in Spirited Away that are unmatched in any other animated film. I won't go into them, because sure they will be another source of misinterpretation. I'm glad to know that you "thought" Finding Nemo was below average. At least your thinking my friend.

I saw it on sunday! Yay! I loved it! The Animation was beautiful! The voice work was tremendous! Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and of course Christopher Lee, gave great preformances! The story wasn't as bland as people keep saying, I found the side stories (ala Emily's mortal husband) quite interesting. It's fantastic to see an animated film not filled with fart and burp jokes and actually funny lines! Ah, Tim Burton, we owe you so much! I eagerly await to buy this on DVD and to see it in theaters again!

Finally saw this movie with some friends this past Thursday, and what can I say? Except OMG I loved it!!

Easily one of the best animated motion pictures in years, the movie drew me in with it's beauty and darkness. It wasn't entirely "dark" as I thought it would be. The voice acting was actually beneficial to the movie itself, not just because it was relying on stars or what not. Johnny Depp/Helena Bonham Carter/Emily Watson etc etc personified the characters to a whole.

The soundtrack was INCREDIBLE!! Truly a beautiful piece of work.

I might go see this again tonight with another friend.

I cannot wait to see Tim Burton's Corpse Bride**! My friends and I are waiting, waiting very impatiently until around Halloween to see the flick. We figured it would be better to see it during the holiday than in September (blech)! Tim Burton is one of my idols, thank you very much, and Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my all time favorite movies! Cannot. Wait.

Originally, thw working title was, "Tim Burton's THE Corpse Bride", but "the" was dropped. And for some of us, we're just stuck on it.

I have just came back from watching Corpse Bride. I found the movie to be good, not great. The animation was an excellent peice of work, one of the best in a while. The voice acting was also very good. However the rest of the movie was a disappointment. First off, the plot was very predictable. I knew once when I heard the story of Emily, the whole plot, and what had happened. Second, if you had watched the trailers, you would have seen nearly every funny part of the movie, and a lot of the movie itself. How good for being a supposedly "terrific" plot. Second, the songs were not catchy. Unlike the Nightmare Before Christmas I really cannot remember one of the songs, and I have just seen Corpse Bride!!! Also how about character development?? There wasn't much of it. There should of been much more. Besides those rants, the movie was enjoyable, but it could of been much better.

Final score 7/10 even though I had been contemplating giving it a 6.

I watched it the day it came out, when it was over I thought to myself... The movie was decent, but in few days i'll be able to really know weither I thought it was good or not. It's been a week since I've seen it, and really havn't it figured it out yet. So right now my thoughts on the movie are, the movie is worth checking out, it was good, but not something I would pick up on dvd. But maybe after a 2nd veiwing I might warm up to the movie more.

I made sure to leave out "the" during my reviews on IMDB and Amazon and stuff.

Somtime last week, we watched this. The animation was so much cleaner than TNBC. BUT...I found TNBC to be more enjoyable than Corpse Bride. It seemed to drag out on some parts, but it seemed too short (when the ending came up). I really liked the design of the characters, some of the characters were likeable, and I sort of liked the story... But it must have been me because it was night and I was tired from work. Oh yea, the romance they incorporated in the movie? Really sweet. Haha! But definitely the voice actors were great in bringing the characters to life.
(ahh, I really should give UP free movie tickets when I'm tired).
