Printed Newsletter

Luke, was curious as to what type of response you received regarding your note about a printed newsletter.
Here's the info for those who didn't see / notice it on the front page..
UltimateDisney.com is trying to gage interest in the possibility of a printed newsletter. Ideally, the newsletter would come once a month and offer our reviews of newly-released Disney DVDs (and some older discs you might have missed) and news on upcoming releases, plus original content not available on this site including a Q + A section, puzzles and games, a contest, articles on Disney films arriving in theaters, and guest columns. If you are in the US and interested, send an e-mail to
printus@ultimatedisney.com with the subject line "INTERESTED." Outside of the US? Send the e-mail to
printint@ultimatedisney.com.

As of now, not nearly enough to make it worthwhile, particularly since I imagine at least half of those who sent e-mails would object to the idea of paying a couple of dollars per issue to cover printing, mailing, and labor. As such, it'd be a colossal loss of money and time (for so small a readership) and this site is already doing plenty of both right now.
I do appreciate the interest expressed from you and anyone else who sent in an e-mail. I tried!

Luke,
I don't think any disrespect is meant. The world is moving away from that method of information dissemination. You are already doing it right. I am involved with two businesses who are going away from that method of information dissemination despite the age of the majority of its customers.
Why would someone pay more for a slower method of communication? I would much rather just send you two bucks a month to keep on doing what you are doing.

I can understand that.. Technology has led us to a faster quicker way of getting our information.. However.. There's something about print that can't be had with reading an email..
It's like reading a book I guess.. I know you can purchase books online (txt format) but, I rather hold the book in my hand instead of scrolling through my book...
RJKD23 had a great idea.. If a paper release is going to cost too much, an electronic newsletter would be sweet.. And to profit from it. (To help pay for bandwith usage) .. Charge $2.00 a month for the e-newsletter.. And to make it work, or give the users the incentive to purchase information is to give the news and reviews to the e-newsletter subscribers early.. maybe a week or two weeks early.. Granted, who's to say they wont just post it here.. But it's a thought..
Sorry to hear the paper version idea wont fly.. I would have paid... Guess that makes me an old timer

Yeah - I wouldn't pay for a printed newsletter. I'm online every day and visit the site at least once a day.
I'm up-to-date in all information on upcoming movies & DVD releases, Disney info, and Broadway info.

I like receiving mail! Hmm, I think that's why I "used to be" addicted to EBAY so I could get a "christmas present" each week/month!
BTW, Lightyear, we do get an electronic newletter which summarizes the sight with links and words (woo-hoo!)
We've just sent out our latest newsletter to the UltimateDisney.com mailing list. Send a blank e-mail to
UltimateDisney-subscribe@topica.com to receive our free semi-monthly newsletter on Disney DVD news and gain access to past issues.
But I want games & another contest.

And I here I thought it was only limited to DVD decisions. Oh, and let me be the first to nominate the new category for next year's Ultimate Member awards: biggest eye roller.

What about a "digital newsletter"? It would be free and it could offer more than a mailing list sendout...ponder
