Regular prices of DVDs?

I was looking into the club, but then I began to think - I know which 10 DVDs I want. The best way to get the most out of a join-fulfill-drop is to use your special prices on the most expensive of your selections. Looking on the site, I did not see any prices and only saw that the DVDs *start* at $19.95.

Numbers-wise, it looks like this:
3 x $2 = $6
1 @ $15
1 @ $10
TOTAL = $31 plus shipping and handling for signup.
5 @ $20 + $4, $1, $1, $1, $1 = $108 for fulfilment

So each movie averages out to $14-15 each (10 DVDs for $140-$150). BUT that's only of you get $20 movies for your fulfillment.

Here's my question: Are there many $20 DVDs? Is there a current pricelist somewhere? I did not see one on their web site... Looking at WalMart or Amazon, the costs vary. New DVDs can be had for as little as $15 (several) or as high as just under $30.

I am just trying to see if this can save me some money... Most of what I am looking for are Gold Classic titles like (Amazon prices - free shipping):

Melody Time (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $18
The Sword in the Stone (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $15
The Black Cauldron (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $18
Make Mine Music (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $18
The Three Musketeers $24
Home on the Range $24
Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $27
Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas $24
Fun and Fancy Free (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $16
Saludos Amigos (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $18
The Three Caballeros (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $16
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $16
The Return of Jafar/Aladdin and the King of Thieves (Aladdin 2 & 3 Collection) $28

Oh, do they have sales / special (low) prices on some movies once you are in? From what I read, they would not count toward your fulfillment, but they would (hopefully) save you money overall.

According to the DMC website, these are the prices of the DVDs you mentioned. (note: you can't see the full list or price list until you actually sign up as a member of the club, you can only see the ones that could count towards your free ones).

Melody Time (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $19.95
The Sword in the Stone (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $19.95
The Black Cauldron (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $19.95
Make Mine Music (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $19.95
The Three Musketeers $19.95 (live action) $21.95 (mickey, etc)
Home on the Range $21.95
Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $19.95
Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas $21.95
Fun and Fancy Free (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $12.95 (super saver-not commitment)
Saludos Amigos (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $14.95 (super saver-not commitment)
The Three Caballeros (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $19.95
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (Disney Gold Classic Collection) $19.95
The Return of Jafar/Aladdin and the King of Thieves (Aladdin 2 & 3 Collection) $26.95

They do have special sales- like free shipping or 20% off or $5 each additional movie. I took advantage of the $5 off- I got Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken (an exclusive) at regular price (towards my commitment) and then got Fun & Fancy Free, Walt: The Man Behind the Myth and A Goofy Movie at $5 off each (all below $19.95 and wouldn't count toward my commitment anyway).

Search around for any special sign up deals. I put in a promotional code when I signed up (prob not still good anymore) that gave me 4 free, plus one at $14.95 that counted towards commitment and one at $9.95 that didn't count.

I think when I figured out how much they would cost on average $11-$12 a piece (I did not include any special deals and I calculated as if I was getting my four commitments in at least two shipments to save on shipping).

I had started with an almost-non-existant collection so I have found the DMC to be completely worth it. I buy what I want through the club and still buy at Walmart, Target, overstock.com and the like if I find deals better than the club. If you have a very solid collection already it might not be the club for you. If you already know which free ones you want, and the rest you want are the ones above, it might prove to be a good deal for you as well since many of what you want are hard to find in stores. Goodluck on your decision!!!

Thanks tons! That is what I was looking for! It is funny to see the discrepancy between Amazon and DMC prices - like the Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas going for $7 more and others for $2 more at Amazon. Maybe that is why many Amazon titles qualify for "free shipping". Like they say, nothing is free - you are paying for it somewhere...

Thanks, again for your perspective.
