i have a question is dsl faster then cable internet and about how much is it a month

i have cox cable internet i and think i get 1 mbps but its not as fast as i was hoping it would be so im thinking of switching to dsl

i have another question will they have to make a hole in my wall to install the dsl cause i live in an apartment

I think only dial up they put a hole on the wall. I have dial up.

DSL is way faster then Cable. Where I live they don't have DSL but do have Cable.

I have used both and have found DSL to be faster and more reliable. I think the reason is with DSL you have your own dedicated line. With Cable you are sharing lines but it is a larger line. So if there are a lot more people on you are slower with cable.

DSL. I have it and everything loads so fast for me. Much faster than dial-up.

My brother switched from Digital Subscriber Line to cable. He was having too many problems with DSL. I don't know anything else about DSL. Sorry.

The cable company made a hole in my wall to install the fadio-frequency coaxial cable.

We have DSL, but for 24 hours we had cable. Between DSL and cable, I felt absolutely no difference in terms of speed.

I guess I'll go with DSL.

I don't notice any difference between Cable, DSL or T1 lines. I hardly watch any online movies or download any huge files anyways. I just download some text and images.

I think DSL might be $10 - $25 cheaper than Cable. I'm not sure though.

I've never used DSL but I do have High-Speed Internet and it's fast enough for me. When I installed a Norton Anti-Virus I had to upgrade my RAM but since then it's done it's job.

i download anime and it takes forever to download it with my cable connection

i dont know if id get em any faster with dsl though

oh i forgot to ask how fast is the lowest dsl speed you can get and is it faster then cable and how much is it

oh and i have another question do i need a special wireless router if i get dsl

if i get dsl ill be in luck cause i have a phone jack in my kitchen and my secretary deck is in the dining room right next to the kitchen so i could take up that blasted cable cord that ive got running from my room and across my living room floor to my laptop computer

Also you should try find/ask people in your actual area which have the different services what's their REAL achievable actual d/l speed instead of the maximun theorethical numbers.

For example i'm on a 56000 bps (6.8 KB/s) modem, actually connect between 44000 and 46000 bps (5.4 -5.6 KB/s), and d/l files consistently at around +/- 40000 bps (5 KB/s)

and i wasnt considering dsl till my friend told me i should try it cause its faster then cable

she said the lowest dsl speed is still faster then cable im not sure if thats true or not though

i pay 91.19 a month for 1 mbps speed internet and of corse my cable tv is added on the bill too

i really dont think i get enough speed for the price though

It depends. Generally, cable is faster--as long as your cable company company doesn't put too many people on your router (because cable, unlike DSL, is a shared connection among other users). I'm using a popular cable service in a major city and it seems to run extremely fast--even faster than one of my friend's DSL connection.

If speed is all you're looking for, go with cable. However, DSL generally offers more affordable options (for example, some companies provide "DSL Lite"--a slower but cheaper DSL).

i bought the cable modem thing is that the router sorry if i sound kinda dumb but im totally clueless about the technical stuff

what will i have to buy if i get dsl

cause when i got cable internet i bought the modem and my friend helped me set it up my internet

oh will my phone be busy when i use dsl

and if i get a phone call will it kick me off the internet

I have cable and it's extremly fast. You just press explorer and it comes up in less then 2 seconds. Not sure if it's faster than DSL though, but it's way way way faster than dial up!

anger, you should try phoning your DSL/phone/whoever takes care of DSL installation in your area and ask them the questions because I think they'll help you out more & you get your answers faster...

i called cox about my problem with my connection running slow

well cox had a speed upgrade from 1 meg to 4 meg for the same price so i upgraded my sercvice

even when he did that i was still running slow so i asked if someone could come over to check out my connection and hes sending someone over tomorrow

well tonight it finally kicked in but the guys still coming tomorrow so im gonna ask him to check all the connections and give me a new enet cord and cable cord too just in case one of those things is the problem

im going nuts i finally got my speed whoo hoo does happy dance around the room

I use DSL primarily. I love it, lol.

I think it depends on where you live. Here, DSL SUCKS MAJORLY. Always dropping the connection, it's slow as molasses in January on the north pole. We have cable here and it is by FAR much faster than DSL. It's funny, I had never heard people talk about DSL being fast, until I read it here!

im still having trouble with my cable connection the internet guy came yesterday and i thought he fixed everything and the speed was fine for a while but about an hour after he left it started acting up again sigh

then today cox had an internet outage and my whole town was out of luck lol

im still having trouble


sheesh im gonna give it a week maybe two and if im still having trouble im gonna consider dsl
