Play.Com Email wrote:Dear Customer
We regret to inform you that one or more titles you have ordered from us has been withdrawn from general release. Your order has been cancelled and you may rest assured that you will not be charged.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this has caused you. Titles affecting you personally are listed below:
Pooh's Heffalump Movie Giftpack
Kind regards
Play.com
When they say it is withdrawn from General release, I assume it will be an (as always, unpublicised) exclusive with a large retailer.
Well done Beuna Vista Home Entertainment UK - get the thing out into a limited number of shops and then don't tell anybody. What a way to make money.
And then people say Aladdin in America got no proper advertising. Nothing in the UK does. Ever.
Anyhow, I've ordered with Sendit.com. I'm hoping being as they have a special "Disney" shop, it will be a trusted BVHEUK partner.

I too got that same message, I just checked my email after reading this! Also I have ordered with Sensit, because as you say Sendit does have a certain link with Disney!
BVHE UK get worse by the day, I mean Tarzan 2 and Lilo and Stitch 2 are both due out before the end of August and neither has had any cover art, bonus features or details released of any kind. Only about 2 stores have them up for preorder as well!
It also looks as though Johnny Tremain UK DVD has been ballsed up again and won't be coming!
Just when you thought BVHE UK were getting better!

Even though I had little interest in that set, the sheer cheek of BVHE UK is simply irritating. I would have expected this set to be not as common as the actual DVD, but withdrawing it from one of the biggest online stores in the UK is shocking. Well, not shocking...typical. If
Alice in Wonderland comes out as a 1 disc edition despite all the bonus footage to fill disc 2 having been passed by the BBFC, a false press release for
Dumbo pops up,
Sleeping Beauty being bought by many in a fullscreen edition due to no publicity of the 2 disc collector's edition and
Brother Bear gets a bear-bones in wrong aspect ratio, I think that this was inevitable considering this movie has less status then the previously mentioned films. I can imagine the DVD releases of
Lady and the Tramp and
The Little Mermaid will be cancelled next due to the fact that everyone has the video.
EDIT: Ichabod,
Tarzan 2 (the actual movie) got passed by the BBFC a few days ago if you'd like to know.

Yes that's right.
And yes Wondy I knew that, but it just proves my point that they probably don't even know what they're doing! I mean if they've still got to get stuff passed by the bbfc sort out and release the cover art, retailers need to get the information and get it up in their stores, and all with only 2 months to go!

Whereas with The US, Cinderella for example which is not released until October was up for preorder months ago!

You mean because it doesnt have the "Pictures Presents" underneath the Walt Disney logo? Thats the only thing i can see thats missing from that tiny pic oh and the widescreen logo from the spine (but it seems loads of new disney dvds lately have been missing that).

I think its just certain places that arent going to sell it anymore. Try sendit.com or amazon.co.uk im sure they are still selling it. If you want a Heffalump then im sure the Disney Store has some.

My Disney store went out of business about 3 or 4 years ago...
So I will have to get my Heffalump online.

Oh no!
I am afraid I am getting in touch with some bad news regarding your order for
the following title:
Winnie The Pooh - Pooh's Heffalump Movie (Animated) (Limited Gift Pack)
http://www.sendit.com/video/item/7000000102556
Unfortunately we have just been informed that the Gift Pack is not being
released on general sale, this will be an exclusive to a specific retailer (we
have not been informed who the retailer is).
As such we will be unable to fulfil this order for you and have had to cancel
this from your account.
However, the DVD itself (without the stuffed toy) is being released on general
sale (11th July) and is a title we would be able to supply for you. The DVD
can be found listed at the following URL on site for ordering priced at
GBP13.89:
Winnie The Pooh - Pooh's Heffalump Movie (Animated) (DVD) (2005)
http://www.sendit.com/video/item/7000000102366
You can order this title from your account online or if you prefer I can place
the order for you from here on request.
Our sincere apologies for any disappointment.
Regards,
Lynne

I think Amazon had the gift set. Could Amazon be the exclusive retailer?

Well I've found out that the giftset is an ASDA exclusive only!

You're right. They've deleted it from the list!
