My sister recently asked me about an old disney movie (probably from the 80's or early 90's). It has bears in it, and a Ranger (it's not Yogi!). One of the bears wears like a bag over it's shoulder and it uses a poking stick to pick up garbage and put in the bag that is over it's shoulder. Any help or movie suggestions would be great!! Thanks!!!!

I can't help you but I've been looking for a title as well. It was on Wonderful World Of Disney up here in Canada. It's about a girl who has only one arm and she was a gymnast competing with one hand. It was a really nice story but I can't remember the title. Could someone help the two of us with these two titles.

It is not a movie. There were a few shorts, not many though with Humphrey Bear and they were made in the 1950s. The Ranger is J. Audobone Woodlorne I believe.
Okay, since they said not Yogi I am assuming we are talking animated right?

These shorts were often lumped together for a Disney special.
I have a special affection those characters, and especially for that aforementioned short that they had to clean up the littering in. They sing a catchy song as the poke the litter with the sticks! I can still hear the swingin' melody in my mind, but the only lyrics I can remember are: "Bump, bump!"
Kind of ironic that these came along at the end of the theatrical shorts era and that Yogi became so successful on TV.

If you think early nineties is old, what do you think of gone of the wind which was released in 1939?

They appeared in seven shorts between 1954 and 1956 and one episode of Rescue Rangers in 1989.

It's a shame so many people have forgotten about Humphrey. I haven't seen one of his shorts on TV in years!
He's still one of my favourites.

That animated short that you are describing, 'In the Bag' is my favourite of the lot.

If you scroll down to the bottom of ichabod's article, there are a few more lines to the "bump, bump" song. It's not much, but it's better than two words!

It seems like there was a Humphrey short playing on WDW's Resort TV loop (the channel that plays classic Disney shorts in rotation). There was also "Lambert the Sheepish Lion," which made one of my friends' days, who is obsessed with this short that none of us had seen until that point.

Aaron - that loop sure got annoying by Day 7. Was great for a few days, but after fifteen times each, I was ready to scream. A five and two year old who didnt want to watch anything else. Arggggggggggggggggh.....

Bwa ha ha!!! I'm gonna be singing that song for
weeks!!! Thanks for pointing that out, chaychay!
Well, that and the La-a-a-mbert, the Sheepish Lion song! So for those of you not familiar. . .
La-a-a-mbert, the sheepish lion
La-a-a-mbert, is always tryin'
to be a wild and wooly sheep
Lambert the sheepish lion. . .
Little lambs all love to butt
their heads are of stone
Lambert thought that he could lick
a dozen lambs alone. . .
While the other lambs
all gathered 'round
to watch this funny bout (ha ha ha ha)
He wanted to be counted in. . .
But he was counted out
Pixar's Boundin' reminded me of it a little, not just because of the sheep but because of the way it was told in rhyme. Old school, yo.
Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm overwhelmed that many of you guys weren't familiar with some of these shorts until recently. . . I grew up on them. It's sad that there isn't easy access to a lot of these classics. I now feel really lucky to have had a VCR in the eighties with access to stations that would air a "Disney Day Off" during school holidays. Ah yes, those were the days. . .
Then again, the advent of DVD's promises to give these shorts new life for everyone to enjoy. Rock on. I hope we get to see the likes of Humphry, Lambert, Goliath II, and so on real soon.
