Cinderelly gave me the idea for this, and I thought it might be interesting...

I listed a few of the top of my head in the poll, but I want you to tell us about your choice, it does not have to be one from the poll. (the poll is temporary and just cause I'm bored, but your actual answers are of intrest to me)

I will have to ponder this for some time for myself before I can answer.

Again just incase I wasn't clear above...

What is the saddest moment in a disney flick, or what do you think are the saddest moments, a ranking of most sad would be helpful.

I'd have to say Beast's 'death'. Despite the fact I've seen the film a bunch of times, and I know exactly what happens nexts, it gets to me every frickin' time...

Mind you, they are all pretty sad. Christ - I must spend so much time being down from all these sad moments in Disney films. When you put themall together like that, I didn't realize hwo depressing Disney films were!

Oh, and PP...maybe you should put a spoiler warning on the top of this JUST IN CASE we haven't see any of the films (there are some pretty major spoilers there).

i voted for stich but bambi is equally sad, there each sad on differnt levels but both made me teary

Loomis, I would and was about to, but any time I try to edit a post that has a poll, it screws up the poll and I really don't want to have to worry about that, but anyway I think most people know about Bambi's mother, and as for the others, It's not quite giving away the ending, but thanks for voicing your concern, and again I would put some kind of warning I just don't want to cause problems with the poll when I just started it...

Sorry right now for any spoils I may have delivered, and I hope to any of you who feel (uh... dissapointed?) that you still see the movie in question, and try not to let it affect your movie experience

I voted for Hunchback (although there are so many incredibly sad parts some listed above, some not) because that opening sequence with everything that happened, and the ridle who is the monster and who is the man? and the song "Bells of Notre Dame" is just sooo moving, and I can't help but get choked up, but it might also be knowing the story that helps with the power.

Another powerful opening is the Tarzan one.

And the Squirrel scene, which I think most of us can agree on, if you've seen the Sword in the Stone, like the movie or not... the squirrel sceen is very sad...

I also, or atleast I use to, I'll have to see when I get the dvd next teusday, but the scene when Briar Rose tells the fairies about her finding true love, and the fairies telling her she can never see him again, and her breaking down into tears... I always found that sad, even though you know... well you know...

Cinderella so happy and all and then the Stepmother locking her in the tower to prevent her from trying on the shoe and Cinderella begging her to open the door, I find this sad too, along with the scene where here stepsisters rip her dress to shreads, sealing Cindy's fate... or atleast that's what they think

And ofcourse as mentioned else where, I find the Beast's death incredibly sad, and just thinking about it sometimes can get me choked up...

Well that's all I feel like talking about for now. Like Loomis I'm beggining to feel depression come on so I better stop...

I can't believe my choice isn't listed. I'm always ready to burst out in tears when young Simba is nudging his dead father. I can't even type anymore, I'm getting too emotional just thinking about it.

Beast's death

No matter how many times I've seen BatB, that scene always makes me cry.

While I thought Bambi's mothers death was the saddest when I was much younger, I now find Snow White's to be the most sad. I remember really thinking that there was no hope, and she was truly dead the first time I watched it. The portrayal of the crying dwarves and the whole imagery of the scenes showing Snow White on her cot is really quite powerful - especially for animation.

Bambi's mom's death was sad, but I thought the death of Tod's mother (The Fox and the Hound) was every bit as sad...if not more so

I think the saddest scene is the squirrel scene in the sword in the stone. I can't really explain why this scene touches me so much. All i know is that i can feel the hurt that the squirrel feels when she realizes that she can never have the one who she loves.

I've had family members die, thats a part of life that i have had to deal with. But if i lost my other half i'd be truly devastated...

Another sad moment is in Oliver and Company when all the kittens are picked but him....

oh and yet another sad moment is when Trusty gets hit by the dog pound's car and they all think he's dead....

I had to give my vote to Stitch because of the whole theme of the movie of Ohana. Stitch was not in community at that point which went against the main theme of the movie. So to me, that was the saddest scene I have seen. When Sleeping Beauty comes out I will see about the scene above to see affects my feelings.

but some things never come back...

Where is Mufasas death??? that by far is the saddest because his son witnessed it and he thought it was his fault. I still am shocked every time he dies. I am always rooting for him.

What about "Baby Mine" from Dumbo? Besides that, definitely the Beast's death. Cry every time.

Must third Today4U and goof ball's comments. That scene in the Lion King is very sad.

I'm going to go ahead and add it and "Baby Mine" to the poll, since we can have more options.

This is my first time posting. I normally just *lurk* around on this forum getting info on dvd releases and such, but I had to comment about this poll since I cry like a baby at so many Disney flicks

I voted for Bambi's mother. I do think that is the overall saddest portion of any of the scenes listed. But one scene that always starts my waterworks that is not listed is in Fox and Hound when Tod is taken out into the woods and left by the Widow Tweed. Tod has only known the warm and caring environment his surrogate mother created for him, and now, that caregiver has abandoned him in the woods. Tod must fend for himself, find shelter and food. The animation of this scene is perfect because you can really see how bewildered and sad Tod must feel. I cry every single time I see that particular scene in Fox and the Hound.

I always forget about The Fox and the Hound (and I don't think I'm alone), which is a shame because as you say, there are some really moving moments in that film. It is actually quite good, but just came out at a bad time for Disney...

God, only now do I realize how depressing Disney films are!

I agree with Indiana and CatNC I think Fox and the Hound has many sad parts, and if I could have listed every single sad moment in animated feature history, or even one sad moment for each disney movie I would have, but I am not aloted that many options for the polls so, I just listed a few off the top of my head and tried to very them so it wasn't just

anyway, I found Tod's mother's death much more sad than Bambi's mother's, or Simba's father's, because you can just see the urgengcy in the mother's eyes as she is running with her child, and she knows she is going to dye, but she wants to save her son, and god...

It has been a long time since I have seen this film...

does anyone know if the GC DVD is worth getting or should I hold out hopes for a SE? TFATH, while a great movie, isn't a priority at this time...

I have never seen Dumbo, but just the whole premiss sounds so terrible, I would like to see it, and I wanted to purchase it through overstock.com when they had that sale, but I needed my mom's credit card number, and she wanted no part in the purchasing of that film, even though I was going to pay her back.

I think the scene where Quasi is strapped to that spinning wheel, and the people are throwing rotten fruit at him is also incredible sad, but atleast they are whipping him, like in the book.

I'm surprised noone has voted for Ariel yet. I think it is very sad, when she thinks Eric has chosen to marry her, and then sees him with Venessa, and she is crying on the poer watching the wedding ship sail away...

Although they are all very sad moments, I picked Beast's death... always gets me, never fails!

Oh, and how can anyone forget... Old Yeller's death!!! I know it's not animation, but this scene is depressing... and one of the most famous scenes is cinema history too!!

Easily the Baby Mine scene in Dumbo. I've seen Dumbo easily over 100 odd times and I always get chocked up when I see the baby mine scene. Theres just something really tender and emotional about the way Dumbo's and his mothers trunk's touch at the beginning of the song that gets me everytime.

I know though that both my mother and her aunt (in different years) cried when Bambi's mum died. Theres something timeless about a Disney sad moment, don't you think?

Mufasa's death! the music, action and mood of that sequence breaks my heart and i feel..... like i want to that's the saddest sequence in Disney History for me.
