Any Daria fans here?

I gotta say I wanted to see the show so badly when it first came out; several people I knew told me that I was a lot like the main character back when I was in high school. When our cable finally offered MTV (which was many years ago), I fell in love.

I watched many episodes before it got cancelled, but I also missed out on a lot. I finally watched the last episode for the first time a few weeks ago, and was pretty satisfied with the ending.

I'd like to discuss the show more deeply if anyone else is interested.

I know it's long been off of MTV, but I believe it currently runs (in an edited form) on Noggin.

Any thoughts on the show or the characters?

I related a lot to Daria back in middle school! :o
I wish they put her on DVD...I liked the show!

I really hated that annoying blond girl with the high voice. was her name Britney? (see I can't even remember her name because I didn't like her)

This show had an excellent cast of interesting characters.

Daria- Not just a stereotypical brainiac that didn't care about fitting in, but a character with many flaws and insecurities just trying to make it through the insane rituals of high school life. She's not as confident as she appears.

Jane- An artistic and idependent thinker, Jane never questions or compromises who she is. Well, almost never.

Quinn- Much more complex than the catty, shallow airhead she appears to be.

Trent- Quite possibly the coolest character ever. 8)

Even though I have all the episodes now, I'd still give my left arm for a decent box sets of the series.

There was a huge petition started probably over a year ago to get Daria on DVD. I heard that there was interest in getting the show going on DVD, little more has been heard of it since. But I'm of the opinion that the wait will be worth it if we don't have to put up with bad replacement songs for the show's excellent alternative soundtrack. I can't believe the pettiness of the people who expect studios to dole out untold money just to license songs for the shows' releases on DVD, in my opinion since the show already (most likely) had to pay for the songs when they played on TV, that should have already bought the songs.

But I'm a pretty serious purist and I only want what's best for this show, original music! All of it!

Oh yeah, and I loved that show. I used to live my life based on many of Daria's same standards.

You're standing on my head....

LOVE Daria. Perhaps a little too much. My best friend and I use to laugh at ourselves because it reminded us a little bit too much of us. Though my friend wasn't artistic like Jane, but that same dryness. And I did damn her for not having an older brother like Trent that liked me ;)

My sister was Quinn like. Not an airhead, but all for trends and popularity that made me sick.

"If I'm wrong, please correct. . ."

Yeah, I'd also want the soundtrack to remain the same. I never bought the DVD's of the two movies because of that (and also because the second one was edited even further).

And not that I'm expecting it, but something that could be really cool is if they could release some sort of official soundtrack of the music they used. I'm gonna have to compile a list of the songs one of these days and burn myself some CD's! :D

I like Daria. They show her, though on Noggin at UNGODLY times. Like at Midnight. It's ridiculous.
Actually my mom says I remind her of Daria. I remind myself of Daria, but also her friend, Jane, because I'm what you call "an artist" as well.

So, mix them together and you get me.

5. Butter of 69 (3:23), by Butter 08 (season 1, episode 3: College Bored)
6. Rocket Plane (Music On the Moon) (3:27), by Komeda (season 1, episode 10: The Big House)
7. Song 2 (2:00), by Blur (season 1, episode 5: Malled)
8. Bound for the Floor (3:43), by Local H (season 1, episode 2: The Invitation)
9. Never Say Never (3:16), by .that dog (season 1, episode 10: The Big House)

"Close to You" by Ethyl Meatplow. All of these songs will fit on the same CD, making it just over 79 minutes. But less than 80, which is the limit.

Sorry for bumping this without any substantially good news regarding Daria's existance on DVD, but just information you all of the petition that some guys have made to get this on DVD. Here's the link- http://www.petitiononline.com/dvdaria/petition.html. Everyone who wants it on DVD, sign it. This show needs help to get it on DVD. I for one don't know why they haven't released it yet. I mean it's Number 4 on TVShowsOnDVD.com, and it has a huge fan base on the net and in teens, not to mention other people. The music is an obvious reason, but it wouldn't take this long just to get the rights for one season. There's only like 13 episodes in a season, and if SNL can get to DVD before Daria, then I don't know what's going on. MTV isn't even working on it. The emails returned to fans who sent in their request for a DVD release said that they'd "like to release it", so I say why not? It's really annoying, I hate waiting for it. I guess I'll have to settle for watching the film IIFY on video, that I taped and waiting for reruns to start. It's annoying.
Sorry again for bumping without good news.
