Can we say Buy 4, Save $15?Little Red Henski wrote:Just to let the people here know Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke & Spirited Away are on sale at Best Buy for $15.99 each.
The R1 Mononoke DVD is supposed to have the best tranfer of all the Ghibli DVDs. Miramax did the tranfer for the Mononoke DVD. The rest of the Ghibli DVDs were done by Buena Vista Japan. The R1 Mononoke has a better transfer than the JP version.Mr. Toad wrote:What are the transfer and sound like on the Princess Monokoke?
the DVD for mononoke is bad. It has like no extra features at all!PublicEnemy#1 wrote:Really... I'm totally going to buy Mononoke on Saturday, the only Miyazaki movie I don't own besides Totoro. (I'm waiting for the Disney version...)
I honestly could care less about special features... I haven't even watch any of the features on the Spirited Away and the other Miyazaki discs besides the Behind The Microphones.Alan wrote:the DVD for mononoke is bad. He asked me about the transfer. The R1 Mononoke DVD has the best transfer but is bare bone. The JP Mononoke DVD has a weaker transfer but it is a 3 disc set.Alan wrote:the DVD for mononoke is bad. Ahhh my perfect DVD. Good sound and video. No wasted effort.Alan wrote:the DVD for mononoke is bad. It has like no extra features at all!PublicEnemy#1 wrote:Really... Maybe I'm just going insane, but the R1 seems to have the worst picture. It's too soft looking, and the colors are kind of muted. You see details in the color of the other regions that don't show up in R1.Little Red Henski wrote:http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDCompar ... smono5.htm Mononoke DVD comparisons. I'll disagree with the first part of your post. I think R1 looks the best. Miyazaki's anime is usually more earth-toned and mellow, not sharp and drastic. Second, I just think the coloring is more suitable, it keeps the movie from looking too cartoony.Disneykid wrote:Maybe I'm just going insane, but the R1 seems to have the worst picture. As for the topic of this thread, I plan on picking up Castle in the Sky as soon as I can while this price drop is in effect.
what do you mean by wave 2?Mr. Toad wrote:Alan I think Castle in the Sky is the best of the three but dont think you can really go wrong with any of the three choices.
I am not sure if wave 2 are included in the promotion but they had slipcovers. If that is swaying your decision then Nausicaa is the way to go.
But again not a bad movie in wave 2 either.

Is there going to be a wave 3,4,5, 6, etc?Pasta67 wrote:Nausicaa of the Valley of the WindAlan wrote:what do you mean by wave 2?
