According to sources for
ComingSoon.Net, we'll be seeing 6 different Star Wars DVD releases on November 1st of this year. It looks like you can buy the final movie separately, buy the prequels together or buy all six films in a complete set. Whether or not this is the "definitive release" of the complete saga is unknown, but we can sure hope for a pile of new extras. Here's the list we were given:
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (Widescreen) 11/1
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (Full Screen) 11/1
Star Wars Episodes I-III (Widescreen) 11/1
Star Wars Episodes I-III (Full Screen) 11/1
Star Wars Episodes I-VI (Widescreen) 11/1
Star Wars Episodes I-VI (Full Screen) 11/1

whether or not the content is different from what we all own. I'll take option #1 at most.

Yeah that is the big question. I atleast need Episode I-III in a boxset to sit next to the other boxset I already have.

Thus far I have only purchased Episodes I and II. I bought them and started thinking that there would be 429 releases once the Saga was finished, so I held off on every release after that. As a result, I'll probably purchase I-VI (WS) whne they street in November and that will be my LAST Star Wars purchase.

I just need episode III and now I'm starting to regret buying any of them because I knew there would be a six film box set eventually coming and the original trilogy box set that came out last year is decent but I have a feeling that if I were in charge of handling it I could do so much better.

It's still good news, I posted this yesterday in the old thread about it coming out on that old date, but I'm still only getting the RotS DVD. At first, when I saw this news, I thought "Well, how come they aren't releasing an original trilogy boxed set." That's when I realized how stupid that thought actually was.

I'm just going to buy Revenge of the Sith since I have all the others. I guess they're doing a simular idea to Lord of the Rings, release the first edition first then release a better version latter when everyone else has the worse version!

not yet.

Why are they still bothering with the full screen versions?
Anyway, I only have the original 3 films on DVD, so I will probably get box with the latest trilogy, of course that depends whether they are 2 discers or not.

I'm thinking I'll do that too if I upgrade but then again George Lucas took quite a while to get the original trilogy on DVD!
I might buy the new trology boxset. I have episodes I & II but episode I has some realy odd problems and I would take it back if I could. (no receipt anymore)

Same here but I might just get the 6 pack boxset.

Darn. I lost episodes 1 & 2 in Hurricane Charley & bought the OT when it came out. I wasn't going to replace 1 & 2 until the probable 1-3 boxset but Circuit City had them both a couple of weeks ago for less than $10 apiece so I bought 'em. I didn't figure the 6 movie box would come so soon. It'd be nice if the 1-3 box were made available separately like the Lord Of The Rings EE was for $3 so I could have box sets next to each other but unless the extras on a 6 movie box are substantial I won't go for it. Looks like I'll just get episode 3 and live with it with or without the box.

RELAX, guys; we don't know what content is on these yet, and I thought I read somewhere that Lucas said they wouldn't do another DVD box for a while.
I wouldn't be suprised if this was just what we already have with slipcovers around it. Ie, the prequel trilogy set would be a box set of the three exsisting 2-disc versions with a holder, and the hexology six-pack would be the 3 prequel discs + the 4 discs from the original trilogy set last year in new packaging.
If that's the case then hopefully Fox will offer mail-in slipcase offers like New Line did with the LOTR EEs.
After the humongous push that the original trilogy got last year when it was first released, I seriously doubt we're going to be seeing any significant new content on that front until 2007 for the 30th anniversary of the saga. This stuff is probably just boxed releases of what we've already got.
I'll wait and see what content there is and then decide, but I will be getting Episode III at the very least.

Either way I will also take option #1 to compliment my existing. And when the new 6 mobie complete set is released, I will buy that too. Assuming it has new content, etc.

Well since I already have I and II on DVD, it seems kinda pointless to get the trilogy boxset or the 6-set one. I'll probably just buy the third movie separately and then get the original trilogy boxset so I have no duplicates.
