Classic Disney Characters Not in Disney Classic Movies?

How come "classic" disney characters like goofy, mickey mouse, minnie mouse, etc, are not in a lot of the disney "classic" movies (beauty and the beast, lion king...), and they aren't in a lot of disney movies.

The creation of these characters orignated in cartoon shorts, thus they appear in less feature films. Nowadays, Disney treats them as famous icons, and less as characters.

What exactly do you mean? Do you mean that you want Mickey and pals to
star in the movies (example: Mickey as Aladdin, Minnie as Jasmine, Pete as Jafar), or do you just wish they would make cameos in them? I think if every classic movie starred Mickey and pals, it would hurt the story (imagine them as the characters in
Beauty & the Beast
) If it helps, Mickey was in
Fantasia and Donald was in
Fantasia 2000. They do get their own DVD movie every once in a while.

umm where have you been?
Try looking at:
Fantasia
Saludos Amigos
The Three Caballeros
Fun and Fancy Free
Melody Time
Fantasia 2000!
there's 6 of the classics that have at least one of them in!
Also there's:
Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas
Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas
Snowed in at House of Mouse
The Three Musketeers
Mickey's House of Villains
Not to mention the like 500 shorts they star in
Then there's The Tv series
Duck Tales
House of Mouse
Mickey Mouseworks
Goof Troop
Quack Pack
They certainly seem to get a lot of action IMO!

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting to include Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, Fun and Fancy Free, Make Mine Music, and Melody Time as classics.

They def get plenty of air time between television shows (HoM, & other ToonDIsney shows), classic cartoon shorts
, mini-featurettes (Prince & the Pauper, Mickeys Xmas Carol) & now newer movies in the past 4-5 years as well. (Fantasia 2000, 3 musketeers, mickeys once upon a xmas, twice upon a xmas)
Who knows what is in store for them in the future-but I am sure we will see many new features that stars the fab 5 & their crew.

And don't forget the half hour Prince and the Pauper, and Mickey's Christman Carol.

They rarely get their own plots in films, unless the film is really crappy (take a look at The Three Muskateers).

Not necessarily true. Look at
Mickey's Christmas Carol and
Prince and the Pauper. While they aren't exactly feature length, they're longer than a short, but shorter than a feature. However, the length isn't really important, in fact my point is that these are both very good films. Sure, there are misfires, like
The Three Musketeers but that is true of any franchise (
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Rocky II, Blade II, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, etc. (Just to note, I still really like these movies with the exception of
Rocky II, Blade II))
It is because these characters are not used that often that their misfires are more apparent than others. I think it's best that they aren't used that often. These have become cultural icons now, and because of that they have to have good movies to star in. They can't just be thrown into any movie every couple of years. The movies they star in must be of a higher calibre. That is why you don't see them very often anymore. I'm waiting for the next Mickey/Donald/Goofy film, but I'd rather wait 10 years and get a high quality release, than to have 1 per year of a lesser quality. Patience is the key here

Yeah, why spoil good characters? But, sadly I don't think we'll get a winning movie for our favorite trio

. The reason for this is that the made for DVD releases from Disney really don't seem to have as much effort put into them as the theatrical movies, and I don't see a theatrical Mickey movie being made in the future.

The future is hard to predict. I'm sure many were saying the same when the Mickey shorts ended in 1953 (and other characters in 1956) and really didn't get a start again until 1989's
The Christmas Carol. Anything can happen in the future, never say never. We could see Mickey on the big screen if Disney gives up it's utterly stupid CGI only policy.

Who knows, we could even see Mickey on the big screen if Disney doesn't give up their CGI policy. Just imagine, a theatrical movie with the same "groundbreaking" graphics as with
Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas.
(Pointless Edit)
Hey, that was my 50th post! I've been upgraded to Gold Collection and I get an avatar. Oh man, I had a speech ready and everything, but I lost it. Wow, what an honor!

I actually didn't mind that so much. It was just a bit odd seeing these characters in 3-D. That being said, I'd much rather see them in 2-D, but I won't object to another 3-D outing, if everything is done well

The only 3-D outing I would really want to see them in is a 'Kingdom Hearts' movie.
