i cant believe it! They actually put Mark Moseley as mushu in Mulan II! I mean... so what if he played mushu in 'snowed in at the house of mouse'! it needs to be Eddie Murphy! otherwise, whats the point??? i hate it when they do this! this same thing with Rowan Atkinson not coming back as Zazu for Simbas Pride! ok... so its not really disney's fault.... most likely Eddie and/or Rowan just didn't want to continue with their parts... but still!

And get this! the star of the stage 'on ice' performance of Mulan, Michelle Kwan, is going to voice a character in mulan II called (you're not going to believe this).......MICHELLE! :jawdrop: (this is no joke people!!)
I mean... bad enough writing parts for actors.... but calling them by their real names.... and in animated cartoons! :headshake: :? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE???!!!!!  :x   :x [/quote]

If I understand correctly, Michelle is only going to get a few lines.

Eddie Murphy is getting paid $10 million to do "Shrek 2", so if he's not doing this, it's probably because he's asking for more than Disney wants to pay.

Figure skater Michelle Kwan will voice a shopkeeper named Michelle in the first sequel. Read the "Good as Gold" September 17, 2002 or "Her star still shines" September 19, 2002 articles or http://www.videopremiereawards.com/HTML ... Oct02.html for more information.

Disney still (as far as I know) only pays scale for voice over artists. One exception may be Robin Williams on King of Thieves and both Tim Allen and Tom Hanks on Toy Story 2 (possibly).

I know that on the latest films, Ellen got scale (pardon the pun) for Finding Nemo as did David Hyde Pierce on Treasure Planet.

I'm pleased these artists work for scale, just because they want to voice a character in a Disney film.

According to IMDb, which we all know isn't always reliable, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen got paid $5 M for Toy Story 2. I thought Goodman and Crystal might have gotten something like that for MI, but nothing is listed, so maybe they worked for scale.

I think that's very cool - although it probably encourages people to go get paid ridiculous sums to voice characters in subpar Dreamworks crap, which in turn bomb (when the stakes are high), and make people worry about the state of 2-D animation.

Either that or the part is too lamebrained for any self-respecting actor to play....or he figures he's going to make alot more box office income with Shrek2.

oh.... and Starion....
Heheh, Michelle Kwan voicing Michelle. That's cute. I wonder what kind of character Michelle is? It'll be interesting to see if she has a major role in the film.
that's not cute... that's desperate!

it's like they're writing the part for the person! and i personally never thought i'd see disney stoop so low. :(

though it might be an interesting concept for a movie... taking a whole bunch of famous actors, drawing them up as people (or better yet... as animals!) and use their real names and real personalities.... and make a movie out of it and...... WOW! what an awsome idea! I hope it gets around and maybe somehow it gets to disney and they do it!

i'm genuinly excited! :float: :pink: :float: :pink: :float: :pink: :float: :pink:

Thanks Star! spread the word people!

Yeah, it's not like King Louie in The Jungle Book was especially written for Louis Prima (who was a big name at the time).

Even Mushu in Mulan was probably created in the knowledge that Eddie Murphy would be playing the part.

I dont mean that they had the person in mind.... i mean that besides that they actually used their real name in the movie!!!!!!!

Well, they used a variation of Louis for King Louie.

Well, Mark Mosely voiced Mushu in Kingdom Hearts...if you have the game, try summoning him. He's not too bad of a voice, but I'm not fond of Mushu myself.

As for Mulan II...if my folks in China ever see it, they'll probably wonder what the Disney company was thinking when they conceived the idea of a sequel. :headshake:

5 Million is a lot for a voice on a Disney movie. NOt much acting for the actors to do. Goes without saying about another thread out there: which do you like more: celebrities or not. DIsney could save a bundle of money and not hire famous actors...

Actually poco, that's a good idea: then less kids get traumatized when they hear Buzz's or Belle's or Ariel's or Baloo's voice somewhere else on TV.

I remember Tim Allen once said that he did his Buzz voice for a little kid, and the kid started to cry because "that man ate Buzz Lightyear!"

Good thought Prince Adam. My cousin's neighbor in LA does one of the voices in Lion King. I think they have a roll in 1 1/2 and Simba's Pride. PLEASE don't ask me which part because, stupid me, I forgot.

Poco-that is soo cool! I also have some (although slightly less strong) connections to Disney. There's a woman who lives like 15 minutes away from me who animated Belle for The Enchanted Christmas. Too bad she did a pretty crappy job...
Also, a friend of mine, her cousin played the part of the original Santa in the Santa Clause. You know, the fat guy who falls off the roof? He died last winter.

When I talk to my cousins in LA again, I will be sure to ask. It's one of the main ones. Pumba sounds like it, but I'm not 100% sure. My cousin visited about 2 months ago and told me and well, I just pain forgot. :(

I hope you live a long and healthy life.
