Hey everyone, i'm a newbie here, first post
I had a question for the board, I found a DVD Copy of Song of the South on amazon auctions, apparently it is from Malaysia, but the seller says it will play on my Region 1 machine, so does anyone know if Disney released SOTS in Malaysia in a region 1 disc??
THANKS!!

They most definitely did not. It is what is lovingly referred to as a "bootleg." Welcome to the forum, benny!

Ask the seller if it's a Region FREE DVD.

That's probably why he says it can play in your Region 1 machine.
Pfft to bootleggers!
and Welcome to the forum,

Nope. But the way Jim Hill always hears it, they're coming out with a 60th Anniversary Edition fall 2006. Let's hope he got this one right.

Not always. If theres a TV show thats not on DVD in full seasons, like the Rugrats, its better to have a bootleg where you can watch all the episodes over and over again.

Unless they plan to release the TV Show in the future
future!

For example, Thundercats! Which is *finally* being put to DVD. Season 1 that is on August 9.
Now, if Disney could get a move on and start putting Gummi Bears...

A bootleg is an illegal copy of a DVD or VHS tape. Some sellers in Asia and other parts of the world sell bootleg Region 1 DVDs on eBay to make a profit. People can illegally copy video from a VHS tape or laserdisc on to a DVD and sell the DVD. The DVD is illegal because the film's original creator did not authorize or license the seller to create the DVD.
Also, a bootleg is the part of a boot. Or, it can be a play in American football.
