My idiotic history teacher handed back our take home test which was an essay, and I GOT A B ON IT. Its the first time I ever got a B on a test and I'm disgusted. The person next to me got an A- and I wrote a perfectly good essay and someone even helped me correct some stuff on it, and this is how I get repaid for my efforts?!!!!! I HATE Bs!!!!!

Hi

Hey Alan,

don't worry everybody gets a B once in a while. She probablly just gave you the grade that she felt that you deserved. If it makes you so mad why don't you talk to her about it?

My teacher is a man

I'm kind of intimidated by him. Hes loud, and can be mean. I don't really like him. All well, at least I got a 99% on the other test that counts for this term

theres something called BIAS. My teacher is bias about grading essays (NOT multiple choice tests). And I don't see whats so bad about my essay. He just said "it could be better if you rewrite it".

At least I got an A on my physics lab report. That made my day

Alan...you're only 15 and complaining of a B.
I wonder what college will do to you! *what with the late night studying and papers to write or HELL as I like to call it.

A "B" In high school is not the end of the world (similar to what Siren stated)

If he's strict on spelling/grammar and your posts on the forum are any indication of your essay, then I think a "B" wouldn't be grounds on which to complain. Remember, a B is a very good grade. If you think you deserve better, then talk to him about it. If not, just think bad thoughts about him under your breath, but that won't change the grade. :)

Don't worry about getting a B nobody is perfect. I would kill to have a B in my calculus class, but that's calculus. Actually right now I would kill to have a B average in college.

Aren ´tt you overreacting?
I mean, I don´t know exactly how a B could be normaly, but if A is 10 and F is 0 it would be like an 8.
depends of the career you choose some day, but I think one day you will cry to get one B.

I´m not saying you will not be able to get an A,but acting like this just because of it is not really talking good of you.
Things not always goes as we expected but we must learn and be better

Get over it Alan. As others have said, wait till you get to college. Do you think that at least in 4 years you won't get one? Or even worse?

In college things are much more complicated because classes are way harder and the differences between classes go from the sky to the earth. Yes, in high school classes aren't the same either. But it's not the same like taking Anthropology and Theology on the same semester. And there's also the fact that there are classes where it doesn't matter how hard you try, it depends on your skills and talents: like a photography class.

So, get used to it as not only will you get B's on a test and/or project but on several, and much lower notes. And not because of that you will fail. You will even have to drop classes or learn that your skills aren't going to be on top despite you better efforts and will have to admit a C or a D in a class (not a test). And believe me, if the class was hard or you didn't like it you will just accept that instead of taking it again (and wasting valuable college time).

Hey PEOPLE, where the hell's your sensitivity?!
Don't talk to him this way, he's obviously traumatised. Just kidding.

Anyway, I would tell this teacher he intimidates you if I were you. I do think the people here who have responded to you weren't thinking about how they'd react to this if they were in your position. They're not realizing that you have a different set of responsibilities. You know something too, they're not reacting to their pressures in a healthy way- so they're not dealing with it as they're telling you to. Also, I've had people in school in positions of power intimidate me. Of course if I had ever told them they did/were, they would have been cool about it. And don't forget if this guy turns out to be the problem, you can bring this to someone else's attention, someone who's job it is to give a teacher a good talking to if they think they're discouraging you from feeling free to try your best by being overly hard on you. But my first course of action would be to go to the teacher and say this, then ask him what's up with his grading system. What you might have done wrong with your paper. You say he said he thinks you should re-write the paper better, ask him how. Ask him in what way your original paper wasn't written well.

What have you really got to lose? Just remember that he's not getting paid enough to be nice. Just that it's supposed to be something that goes with the territory of being an educator.

Perhaps a B is not the best grade you've achieved in the past, but remember: for some people it is, and you should be careful not to offend them.
Not necessarily on this forum, but perhaps at school as well.

And I'm not sure how your school board works, but in Ontario a B is the grade you should have: it means you have learned everything you're required to know.

I think that's probably not a very good idea.
