Hi Luke,
Thanks for posting some information on the 1.66:1 anamorphic widescreen ratio. :) http://www.ultimatedisney.com/FAQ.htm

I was about ask what the differences between 1.66, 1.85 and 2.35 are. I think this is the only site that has pictures of films with a 1.66 : 1 aspect ratio. Interestingly enough, I don't see any side or top bars on my 16:9 plasma TV. Maybe the black rectangle "frame" on the glass is covering the black bars. lol

Glad you like it. I got a few e-mails about it, and it generally seems to be something that confuses people. Not surprised that you're not seeing the side bars on a 16x9. It's crude, but everything outside the white is missing (in this case, just about everything that's black).

Thanks for the feedback.

If I play a film that has an anamorphic 1.66 : 1 ratio on my computer, I see black bars on the side (pillar box). If I watch the same film on my 4:3 TV, I see black bars on the top and bottom. The video pictures look like the ones on your FAQ page. Pretty cool, huh? :)

I'm going to read about overscan now.

Yeah, it is pretty cool how the PC monitors have no overscan. It's a lot more effective to SEE it than read about it, and that you've done. :)
