I was about ask what the differences between 1.66, 1.85 and 2.35 are. I think this is the only site that has pictures of films with a 1.66 : 1 aspect ratio. Interestingly enough, I don't see any side or top bars on my 16:9 plasma TV. Maybe the black rectangle "frame" on the glass is covering the black bars. lol

Glad you like it. I got a few e-mails about it, and it generally seems to be something that confuses people. Not surprised that you're not seeing the side bars on a 16x9. It's crude, but everything outside the white is missing (in this case, just about everything that's black).

If I play a film that has an anamorphic 1.66 : 1 ratio on my computer, I see black bars on the side (pillar box). If I watch the same film on my 4:3 TV, I see black bars on the top and bottom. The video pictures look like the ones on your FAQ page. Pretty cool, huh?

I'm going to read about overscan now.

Yeah, it is pretty cool how the PC monitors have no overscan. It's a lot more effective to SEE it than read about it, and that you've done.
