I've had it installed for a while, but usually turned off unless I want to get more info on a site or use it as a search engine. But now it's been updated and it blocks pop-up ads. It's awesome at it. Better than POW, which I've been using for a long time.

I highly recommend it.

i read thatnthe google toolbar installs spyware on ur comp and tracks ur cookies i donr remember where i read it tho

If it does, download Spybot (I think it is called that) which not only hunts down and eradicates spyware, but replaces it with a harmless file which allows programs that need adware to function to still function without the adware.

Did that make sense?

Google may log the sites and searches you make, but to me, that's less intrusive than ads. Anyway, Ad-aware seems to be okay with it. Sounds like the program Loomis is describing.

Another toolbar you may prefer is the Alexa Toolbar:

That helps monitor web traffic, so essentially if you have it open when you surf the site, it'll boost our numbers.

It wasn't Ad Aware (although I have that too), the one I was thinking of was called 'Spybot - Search and Destroy'. It is better than Adaware in the sense it finds thing AA doesn't, and it often replaces ad programs with harmless files so ad-depended freeware will continue to work...

Well, I've just learned that I can offer an Alexa Toolbar for the site. It contains a link in the toolbar to the site, plus our affiliate link to Amazon, and it gives you stats and information about this site and any others. Not to mention that it manages popups. So as an alternative to the Google Toolbar, you might want to check this out:

instead of installing 3rd party browser applications, you could just download mozilla. its free, has built in pop up blockers, and for me is a lot faster than internet explorer, but i still use internet explorer for its easy to use FTP access.

i liked the google toolbar when i was using internet explorer, but google hasn't made a version for mozilla. i don't think google toolbar downloads spyware on your computer.
