When do you think I should sell these Limited Issues?

I have the Limited Issue discs of:
- Lady and the Tramp
The Little Mermaid
The Jungle Book
101 Dalmations
Pinocchio
and the SE of Peter Pan
Since these will all be coming as Platinum Editions at some point, I am planning to sell them and get the PEs.
I would like to maximize any profits (I'm broke!

) and minimize any waiting time between the next versions.
For instance, I should probably sell Lady and the Tramp now, as it is due to be released in March of 2006. The closer a release date comes, the more people will be willing to wait instead of getting the older release. On the other hand, I would probably wait a couple of years for Peter Pan, as the SE is a nicer disc than the other LIs, and it won't be re-released for quite a while.
How much do you think I should try to get for each one?

I don't think you should see any of them, The longer you hold on to them the more they may be worth, aka the Video's I have seen some of the older release videos on sale for over $250.00.

Well, you have to make it clear that they're not bootlegs to maximize how much you'll make. Little Mermaid and Lady and the Tramp are coming next year, so some time before then, you'll want to unload them. Jungle Book and 101 Dalmatians in 2007, so some time before them. I'd hold off getting rid of Peter Pan until we know for sure that a better version is coming and soon. Pinocchio's a lame disc and it's bound to be improved upon soon, but again, you might want to wait for it to become even harder to find than it is already, if that's possible.

What do you mean by this? You mean VHS's? From what I've seen, you can't GIVE them away on ebay- even if it's something that is not due out for a long time (Snow White). And other DVDs that sell for a lot are B&tB and Snow White- going for a good amount, but no where NEAR $250.
And Luke, as always, has great advice. I'd sell LM and L&tT first and hold on to Peter and the Pan until we know a real release date on a better version.

Aside from Pinocchio and Peter Pan(they're not coming to the platinum lists in a long time) you should sell all the others!IMO

I wouldn't sell Mermaid, as it may sadly be a "touched-up" version on the platinum DVD. (:headshake: to Disney) If you can survive without the others until the next release, E-Bay them. And put Lady and the Tramp up for auction as soon as possible before Disney begins to promote the new DVD like mad.

How about Christmas? Christmas is a good time to sell Disney DVDs. Not a bad way to spend Christmas either, given how dreadful Christmas TV has become.

That's kind of incredible when people can't seem to get even 5 bucks for these on ebay...

And even the Little Mermaid VHS with the cover that was "banned" (also black diamond) can't get even $12 for it...

I have almost all of the first releases. Wish I could find some crazy buyer like you've obviously found.
littlefuzzy- I would start them around $5 or 10 on ebay. No matter what you start them at, I'm sure you'll get a good amount for them.

On sale is great and all; I can put my Bambi Plat. Ed. DVD on sale for $300 if I wanted to. But will someone buy it? And if so, GIVE ME THEIR NUMBER!
Seriously though, I saw a Bambi first release on eBay for around $250 also, but the auction ended w/o any bids. If you can tell me someone bought said videos at those prices, then I'll be amazed. Otherwise, it's no big deal.

Hahaha. My sentiments exactly. Just did a completed search for Bambi black diamond on ebay- recently went for $2, $4.25 and $1.99. Sellers with starting bids of $8.99, $5.99 and $7.99 went off with no bids.
Some poor seller even put the original release video up with two plush bambi's at a starting bid of $3.95 and got no bids (power seller with 99.9% feedback)!! Jeez, for that price I'd have bought it just for the plushes if I had seen it!!

Although it is a far cry from $250... I did have a couple of people buy Aladdin King of Thieves for over $30 for the VHS.

I've sold 5 or 10 others exactly the same and never got over $5.00 for one?
I've sold over 6,000 Disney VHS on Ebay and of course you get varying prices everytime you sell, but most stay within a certain range.
I will suggest not sell those DVDs during the summer months... May thru August are the worst month to sell movies on Ebay. It picks back up in the fall when kids go back to school.
I think the most I've ever got from VHS tape was $51 ....
