I want to know if you guys think what i did was stupid........I just bought 13 DISNEY GOLD COLLECTION DVDS from BESTBUY.com for about $277.00. The one I could'nt get were the out of print ones like PINNOCIO but that will come on PE. Anyways I want all of DISNEYS' Animated movies. I bealive there is 44 in all. I have all the PE movies so far. I have Alice in Wonderland. And I will purchace all DISNEY MOVIES that come PE, like CINDERELLA, LITTLE MERMAID. So what do you guys think, was what I did a smart or stupid move?

Grabs a calculator...$277 / 13 = $21.31ish..

wow, you must be rich? :o
I semi-understand why you would want to complete your Animated Disney movies...sorta. I see it in MickeyMousePal and MickeyMouseBoy. (What's with this MickeyMouse thing & wanting to complete the Animated Collection?! :p)

But why did you go to BestBuy.com? (Since you did, I wonder if you used the link through this site to support the site! :))
Personally, I would've gone to the store so I'd be able to use the Best Buy Disney coupon which entitles you to $15 off when you buy 4 Disney DVDs. Though you'd probably have to do it...3 (or maybe 4) times, you'd save...$45.00! gasp! Although some BestBuys do not have ALL the GC DVDs you are looking for, you'd probably still be able to save money (and also lowers the shipping cost..unless that was provided free to you!).

I would say it was an "or" move. I wouldn't exactly call it smart because in my perspective, college girl over here would rather use $277.00 on something else like a new wallet (chat joke! :p)!

But I wouldn't call it stupid..(at least not now anyway ;)) because you're buying your favorite movies. And if you have the money, use it the way you want!

:!: BUUUUTTTTTTTT, how are you soo sure that Disney won't give all those single-disc Gold Collection DVDs that you just ordered the better treatment they deserve (say a 2-Disc packed with lots of Bonus features) in the future (hmm, I'm thinking 10 years..)? :shifty:

not stupid, but impulsive

you could had wait to buy them, and who knows maybe on a promotion they could be a little cheaper

but hey, Hakuna Matata! you got them, you got your Disney movies and I think it should be enough
not the best move, but at least you got them n_n

Well for myself, I would of waited for all those titles to come out on Platinum Edition or Special Edition. And it's not the amount of money you spent either. I always have my big spending sprees as well, once and a while. So it wasn't a stupid thing to do. As long as you can confirm that they are all the real thing, and you weren't sold bootleg copies that's all.

I agree with the General "vote".. Nothing stupid about buying something you want.. My suggesetion however, is to do a little more research before buying. You can always find them cheaper somewhere else.. Best buy has good deals on some.. but jack up prices on others too. Get a rewards program and put that 277 towards it.. You'll get 10 bucks in coupons. (Better than nothing)...

If it were me i would have waited to buy the ones that you brought, as im sure most of them in the next few years will be getting better treatment. Ah well if you have the cash spend it! :P

Wow. I probably would have done the same thing, but I don't have that much money to spend on DVDs. You're lucky! :D

I wouldn't call it stupid, but I personally would wait to get those movies on 2-disc editions. That way you have more special features and your DVDs are worth more later on.

The reason I don't mind buying the GOLD COLLECTION one disc is because they are not the TRUE CLASSIC Disney movies we know and love. I really think DISNEY was smart on how they chose what movies to bring out on 2 Disc, and PE. I see the ture classsic DISNEY movies as...SNOW WHITE, PINOCCHIO(which I am wating for a PE release), DUMBO(which I am waiting or a two disc release), BAMBI, CINDERERLLA, ALICE IN WONDERLAND, PETER PAN etc....... So I see it as TURE CLASSICS like I named above I will wait for the 2 Disc, becuase i have a chance of getting DUMBO, but I hear they are coming with a BETTER 2 DISC whci is suppose to come this year. Also LILO and STICH. I also don't care for any of the DISNEY SEQUALS. The only SEQUAL I will get is TOY STORY 2 which is PIXAR/DISNEY.

I can't say I'd have bought them. The transfers on those DVDs aren't that impressive, and they have absolutey nothing in the way of bonus features. They're worth, perhaps $5 a piece, not $22. Also, I guess you're talking in U.S. dollars; which seems even more expensive. I know here in Canada, those Gold Collection DVDs don't go for that much at some stores. At HMV, you can get some of them for 2/$20 and 2/$30, which is $10 and $15 CDN, respectively; a much better price than close to $22 USD.

I still wouldn't buy them for those prices, either, though. I don't buy any DVD releases which are single-disc, or lacking in bonus features. I"ll just wait for Disney to release better versions and if they don't, I'll simply rent them instead.

It really depends on just which titles you bought. Buying titles like Pocahontas and Mulan is foolish since there are better editions out there. Hercules is questionable since it could very well go SE in the future. Other titles, though, like Robin Hood or The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad are more sensible since the chances of them receiving better DVD treatment are fairly slim. I say that if you wanted them that badly, then the purchase was worth it, especially since it seems you got decent prices on each title.

The total would of been $257, but I live in Cali so the tax hit me like $20.

What Did You Get but $257.00 is a Little Crazy to me I Can See on Movies that Will Probably Never be Upgraded to an SE Like Three Caballeros, Sword in the Stone, Robin Hood, Black Cauldron or Hercules

Ahh, the unfortunate tax for us Californians. :headshake:

Stupid may be too harsh of a word, but you definately could have done better then $277 or whatever it was you spent.

I can't really think of any Disney DVD that I couldn't find cheaper then on BestBuy.com, but to each their own.

Congrats on the start of a great collection!

Nope it wasn't stupid or a waste of money. You just like Disney nothing is wrong with that. I almost own all the Disney DVD except for Cinderella but I do own a bootleg of it. RJKD23 I gues MickeyMouseboy and MICKEYMOUSE are true fans of Walt Disney but so am I.

I'm just waiting for LATT, TJB and 101 Dalmatians to come in the mail.
Did you used the Reward Zone Card with the $257? :)

sooo..you're saying in order to be "true fans of Walt Disney", you have to have the complete 44 Animated Classics on DVD?

Well, then I'll wait till I have a career to be a true fan of Walt then. ;)
I'd rather buy wallets. :p
