What is your favorite musical score from any Disney/Pixar/Studio Ghibli movies. And no, I'm not talking about the songs in a particular film, but the music used to enhance the mood of a film. Anyone who knows who Hans Zimmer and John Williams are will get the idea.

Favorite Disney musical score:

- Peter Pan
- Sleeping Beauty
- The Little Mermaid (Alan Menken)
- Mulan (Jerry Goldsmith)
- The Lion King (Hans Zimmer, Mark Mancina)

Favorite Pixar musical score:

- The Incredibles (Michael Giacchino)
- Monsters, Inc. (Randy Newman)
- Toy Story 2 (Randy Newman)

Favorite Studio Ghibli musical score:

- Spirited Away (Joe Hisashi)

Atlantis: The Lost Empire has an amazing score! It's one of Disney's best! I also love TLK but wish they released a score only soundtrack, we're missing so much from the film.

Beauty and the Beast! I love the opening music of this movie, when it's showing the castle for the first time. Those notes are haunting. The music is just one of the many reasons why this movie is absolutely perfect.

I love tons of Disney ones but I can't be bothered to writed them all down and I've only seen Spirited Away of the Ghilbi canon, so I'll just tell you guys my fave Pixar and worst Pixar
FAVE PIXAR-
Finding Nemo- Heart warming and poignant. Enough said.
WORST PIXAR-
Toy Story- It's irritating to me, not to say that it isn't a good story or film but the score and songs annoy me.

My favorite Disney scores:

Sleeping Beauty
Bambi
Fantasia
The Lion King
Peter Pan
Pirates of the Caribbean

...Of course there are plenty of Disney movies for which I need to go back and revisit after a while of not having seen them. This is really just an off-the-top-of-my-head list, but I really do think all of these are amazing.

Pixar? Definitely need to revisit some of these, but I don't think any of the scores have really bowled me over in the way that the aforementioned Disney ones have. I did think that The Incredibles' score did an excellent job and was very fitting for the movie.

As for Ghibli, I still haven't seen any of those (), so I can't comment.

As far as background music goes, Pocahontas is the best for me. But, if you're counting the songs with the background music, it would definitely be TLM, Hercules, and HoND. Maybe even the Great Mouse Detective (the theme's very addictive).

Pixar
The Incredibles

Ghibli
Spirited Away

I'm in here more to ask a question, but out of the scores I've paid attention to, Newsies, The Little Mermaid, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Scores play throughout the majority of the running times of films, right? But soundtracks don't have 70 + minutes of score on them, just less than 25 minutes worth. I understand that there wouldn't be enough room on a CD for all the score plus the songs, but how do they choose what score tracks to put on CDs? The most memorable? As a person who hasn't paid much attention to scores, but now has an interest in them, I don't know, but are some parts of score not good enough, or something? Or they really just have to choose the strongest parts of the score to include on CD soundtracks?
