Hello, Has Anyone Here Ever Boughten Any Disney DVDS From A Pawnshop? Ive Got My Eye On A "Beauty & The Beast" Platinum Edition DVD. They Are Charging $20.00 CDN, I Think That's A Pretty Good Deal. What Do You Guys Think?

Yes. Just be real careful checking for scratches beforehand. They are not nearly as careful as a second hand CD/DVD store.

I've seen some titles at pawnshops but I don't buy from them because I already have them on DVD.

But if you do buy from them, make sure the DVDs aren't scratched and the DVD case as well as DVD Cover art is good. Inserts should be there too...

if it's complete, then $20.00 seems like a deal with BATB!

I Just Got Back From The Pawnshop. The BATB DVD Had No Scratches Or Fingerprints, Plus It Came With The Slipcover & The DVD Still Had All Of The Original Inserts!

congrats on the great buy i get alot of my disney dvds from pawnshops/used dvd/cd stores. sometimes itws a geat wy tofid out of print stuff just like u did

Before I got a DVD player, I use to get my Disney VHS and CDs from a used movie store. The VHS would run for about $10-15 and the Disney soundtracks would run anywhere between $3-$10. I think they must have done quality control on all their merchandise because I never got a defective video or CD. Sometimes you can get really lucky too as I found a still sealed copy of a new Little Mermaid VHS for $15, which was crazy because they were going for about $50-$60 on ebay at that time.

That's A Pretty Good Find For "The Little Mermaid" VHS Tape Sealed.

And if there are any serious scratches on it, you can always get a replacement disc from Disney.

I got my Little Mermaid DVD at a used CD store for $15 before it was out of print, and I bought several of my early Disney DVD's there to catch up on what I had missed out on before having a player. Besides, I hated spending the full $30-$35 on each title in a regular store, and the used ones served me just fine at $7-$15 each.

The only early releases I missed out on getting were 101 Dalmatians and Jungle Book, since they skyrocketed in price soon after they went out of print. I remember seeing a used copy of 101 Dalmatians there for about $50 and laughing at them, because I knew of a store down the street that still had a brand-new copy for $35 on their shelves. I didn't see spending that much on it just to upgrade to DVD without any real bonus features, so I figured I could wait until the inevitable re-release.

Heck no!!! If you're gonna buy a DVD, especially a Disney DVD you might as well buy it brand new so it last longer. I mean its worth it.

It all depends on your priorities, though. Personally, I wouldn't buy a DVD from a pawnshop; I'd wait to get it new, as well.

Just recently, I found the Fantasia Anthology new & sealed at a smaller store in Toronto for just over $70 CDN; which is really less than it's MSRP. Pretty good find. The disc for Fantasia 2000 was off its hub when I opened the case (I almost expected something like that, having been sitting in a warehouse or on some shelf for so long), but I called Disney and have already recieved the envelope to send the disc back in and they'll issue a replacement.

Yeah, for most of my movies I like to get them new on the the day they are released. As I said in my previous post, I was buying used ones to play "catch up" and to avoid those early prices that were so ridiculously high. But for something out of print or for something that is less of a priority (like most non-Disney films), I have no problem resorting to buying a used copy as long as the price is right.
